Bro we didn’t own the game because none of us are really interested…just like some people are not interested in other games like Virtua Fighter 5, Arcana heart, Shaq Fu, the list goes on…we didn’t buy the game to play it…we bought the game for YOU GUYS, THE KOF COMMUNITY, the people who actually play the game, so that you can have THE TOURNAMENT you are demanding…it doesn’t make sense for us Tournament Organizers to play a game we JUST BOUGHT and are not interested in…you guys are veterans at the game so what chance do we have that we bought the game on Saturday night against you or veteran players on a tournament going on the following Wednesday??? 3 days to play the game and master it??? that’s a FREE win for you…now is that the kind of people you want to play against??? un-experienced players who just so happen to enter the tournament so that KOFXIII can have a full 8 man bracket??? NO…that just doesn’t make any sense bro I’m sorry to tell you that but it doesn’t make any sense…people are gonna enter the game they want to play or want to get better at. First people demanded tournaments with legit setups; WE GOT THAT…then they demanded earlier starting times; WE GOT THAT…then they demanded none Capcom games like KOFXIII side tourneys; WE GOT THAT…now you are demanding that the staff plays games they aren’t interested in so you can have a tourney because the KOFXIII scene crowd wasn’t able to make it??? You have got to be kidding me…don’t come at me and tell me that just because we bought the game we should enter the tournament to make a full 8 man bracket…THATS THE KOF PLAYERS’ JOB!!! TO SHOW UP AND PLAY THEIR TOURNEY!!! We advertize the tourney, we talked about the time it was gonna start, we talked about it everywhere (facebook groups, word of mouth, srk) for a week…and why SHOULD THE TH STAFF ENTER THE TOURNEY???..we are running the tourney for the KOF scene…only 1 TH staff member plays that game…you can’t force people to play a game they dont like or are not interested in its like forcing vegan people to eat meat, they just wont like it!..we had other players there too…the UMVC3 crowd (many who i dont know and are new to the WNB tourneys) …how come they didnt want to enter KOF??? I dont see you trying to get them to play KOF…trying to justify or even say that it is our fault that an 8 man bracket for KOF was not full because WE didnt enter is just ridiculous.
Like my team-mate Xaiah said…we ARE NOT DROPPING KOF from our line up (I mean we spent $160 bucks on the games all new)…we are simply gonna give other games a chance just like the gave KOF a chance…and YES WE WILL run KOF as a side tourney and maybe even as a main event if people actually DO SHOW UP…look man Im sorry that this didnt turn out as good as we all hoped it would cuz I was excited to help the KOF scene get the action they want…again Demo I cannot thank you enough for the support and your will power to make the KOF scene grow but seems to me like you are mad at Tierless Heroes when I feel like we did just about as much as we could to run this tourney.
Yo Demo lemme get in on that FR action. I will have to drive myself. I don’t have your number to get in contact with you but I will be able to go and I gots dat cash son. Holla at me.
I appreciate what you guys are doing and even given KoF didnt run, I had a blast. but your post does prove a few of my other points that ive been saying on here and on facebook. while it is a noble gesture for you guys to have gone out and bought copies of the game, it was utterly unnecessary and in my honest opinion it was an expensive gamble that didnt pay off for YOU. it didnt hurt me, outside of the gas money I spent, and its definitely NOT HURTING the NC KoF community as a whole because trust me, we still have numbers beyond what you believe and we are gonna be strong regardless. now about buying games: im a grown ass man, ive worked for everything I own…im not rich but im definitely not slumming it up either, I also personally assumed the role of “NC equipment guy” for a long time, a role I still play when asked. theres no way you can tell me you guys just have the money laying around to go “well the people want X game…so lets go out and buy X game FOR THEM”. that money could be spent or saved elsewhere. if you are gonna assume the stance of “if they show we will run it” a better test of the community would be for you guys to have provided a suitable screen and then saying “if you guys provide your own hardware and produce numbers CONSISTENTLY…then we will pick it up”. this also goes back to what I was saying on FB about EVO standards and such. on one hand you guys wanna say “WE ARE SMALL SO WE DONT HAVE TO RESPECT EVO STANDARDS” then on your other hand youre saying “WE ARE BIG ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO BUY ALL THE EQUIPMENT OURSELVES FOR YOU GUYS”, which is going to bite you right in the ass. because yeah you guys had KoF there, but none of the proper DLC was available, meaning the setups werent totally legit. so are you guys gonna spend another $60 to make all the dlc available on all 4 of your provided setups? then what happens when DLC or patch heavy games like MK or BB are chosen as “flavor of the week”? see the slippery slope youre on?
what happens when the flavor of the week ends up being something like Arcana Heart 3, a game thats not available on XBOX? slippery slope.
or worst case, what happens when Tekken is the “flavor of the week”. believe me if you think im passionate about KoF, you havent seen a thing lol. since you guys buy the games for US by our suggestions, are you gonna go out and buy PS3s and games to run Tekken on? you’ll NEVER run a REAL Tekken tournament on XBOX. not just because the PS3 version is tournament standard but because Tekken on XBOX drops frames immediately, which would then make your setup not legit. moreso this would also go against your point you were making about the level of players there. you want to get better so you play the best available players and no self respecting Tekken player is going to play on the XBOX, so if you run it and get 8 players it will be a terrible display because im very confident in saying that none of the NC Tekken community would show up for a side tournament run on an XBOX. once again, slippery slope.
it might seem like im coming at you raw, but im not…im just trying to make sure you guys understand the position youre putting yourself in and I want to keep you from falling down that slippery slope.
Ouch… no DLC. That’s pretty much going to cut my friend Muaythai from ever entering a KoF tournament there so i’m glad I didn’t tell him to take off with my mind reading powers knowing it would happen a week before it was announced that there was going to be a tournament a week later. I don’t mind KoF on 360 I don’t care what system it’s run on, I don’t use DLC but I do use Saiki occasionally which is a char that needs to be unlocked so i’d hope atleast that’s done. I think there would be less problems if there were just dedicated players to these games each week and brought set ups like the same guys that own UMVC3 and AE 2012 that have the DLC shit like that and then for flavor of the week people who SERIOUSLY play like SC5 will bring that setup with all the chars unlocked and so on.
Billy and Saiki were unlocked, no issues there. im not trying to deter anyone or change anyone’s opinions of WNB or TH or anything like that. im just offering up suggestions and making small observations.
im glad you understand where im coming from with my statement Mike. its not that I feel the TH guys HAVE to play KoF or SC5 or any of the other games they choose to offer as a side event, BUT to be taken seriously as TOs they have to have some vested interest in the games they offer to know what to have on hand for the people they want to attend their tournaments. theres quite a few games I dont play seriously but on request I can be depended on to have whatever equipment necessary to help run anything properly. which goes back to supporting the scene that supports you.
im probably not gonna say anything else about it after this, but speaking BIG picture here. im appreciative for their efforts and I think they are doing a good job with the resources they have BUT if they want to truly grow into an extension of the larger NC community they have to not only be open to suggestions but also open to HELP.
Demo…I still cant thank you enough for the support and help offers…if not only the KOF but also the other game fans would be as passionate as you are WE, RDU, would have a better scene…there isn’t anything in Raleigh and that’s what we are trying to achieve, to have something in Raleigh for the fighting game community and so far it has worked out great til we ran into KOF and sadly we disappointed…and for that I apologize. It really does suck that this all comes down to money…we are running AE2012 & UMVC3 as our main events because they pull more players and we can run those games in all of our setups…hence why we ran KOF as a side tournament since we had to purchase a few copies of the game, we did so because we knew we are gonna need them for future KOF tourneys. We have been running WMB for a month now and so far everyone that has attended has been having a great time and giving us major props which we are proud since we are becoming more solid. Once again…we are not dropping KOF and yes we are more than willing to run the tourney once again but we will so when we are ready, full setups, all the DLC, and everything needed so that the tournament is legit (Demo since you are the most experienced and passionate about this game I will be contacting you to get your tips and opinions to make sure everything is running accordingly). I wish we could take any help, trust me you are not the first one that offers and thank you for doing so, but the deal we have with the venue limits us in many things that I wish we didnt have a limit on (time we have the venue for, day we have the venue available, space we can use, setups we can bring) so as you can see we are working with what we have and the limitations put by the venue owner NOT OUR OWN…thankfully they are happy with the numbers we have been pulling and slowly letting us warm up to the place so that a bigger part of the venue becomes available for us. I think that for the month we have been running WNB we have been doing a great job and its only going to get better so that we can accommodate everyone and they games they want to play. I am sure that we will run into more issues concerning other games like Tekken, SoulCalibur 5, but we will be doing our research so that the tourneys are as legit as possible. TH will be getting two more setups so the flavor of the week tourney will disappear thus letting us run two main events instead of one with a side tourney…AE2012 and or UMVC3 with another big title like KOF, SC5, Tekken, and so on…two games every Wednesday and again the games will be the ones that pull more numbers…so if KOF brings a consistent number of players every Wednesday then KOF will be run weekly and same could be true for any other game. And sorry to say this my MK lovers but that game is completely banned at the venue and this is coming from the owner since the game is rated R and thats going against corporate rules. I am done with this issue and Demo thanks again for all your input in this matter, we tried, didnt work out, we will try again at a later time. I really appreciate it SO MUCH each and everyone of you that made it out and rest assure that we will try our best in the future.
Now moving on…next Wednesday we will have AE2012 as our main event and Soulcalibur V as a side tournament…same rules as the previous tournaments…details and flyer will be posted shortly.

MK is dead in RDU anyway so it doesn’t make a difference, KoF is gonna need all the DLC, Blazblue won’t survive here but if it magically did the new update on the 14th for 40 dollars does have all the stuff unlocked for it so that’s not really a problem. Tekken is a game people won’t take serious on 360 . Pretty much the only games I can see being run on the side is SC5 and KoF anyway and if that’s the case like I said it’s best just to ask the community to bring systems fully unlocked to help out or fully unlock stuff on whatever systems are being used on the tournament. I think I hear your points now it’s just initially you came off as “KoF doesn’t support it’s community” despite the fact that we only gave people a weeks head up which isn’t enough to take off work and on the busiest basketball day ever for NC people. If the flavor of the week tournaments are gonna get maximum entrants it might be better to have it like you do your marvel and ae. So next week is SC5 right which you will try to run. Just say that after next week is KoF again, then another SC5 then KoF and so on unless there is a serious request for any other games and people to back it up.
Yo Demo, Javier told me the same thing with regards to staying in my room. That said, here’s my situation.
People that have expressed interest in riding/rooming with me;
James (guaranteed)
Jon (need more info)
Javier (same as Jon)
4.__________ (last riding spot unless there are small folk who can pack into a backseat comfortably)
5___________(room)
6.__________(room)
Wow!! Can’t believe more RDU players are not coming to ReSe. Especially after all the “hardcore” talk I see. You don’t have but two riding with you? What a shame. And we have 3 national players at this event with 4 states occupying the space. Hmm, I guess they are not as hardcore as one would believe
Also, what the hell is up with people talking all big and then when you have people like Demo, Matt, and myself taking it upon themselves to make sure shit is booked and organized and all they have to do is say “I’m in” when we ask! Ugh it kills me so much to try and do so much for people and get completely ignored.
Wake up people!! All you have to do is fucking show up. Hell you don’t even have to drive or make calls to book shit, you just need to show up. I am being redundant but it really bugs me to no end!!
plan on me becoming a regular. i am 5 mins from champps. i came out when this was happening with vanilla, but i just forgot. awesome, we’ll see you there this week then!
oops, didn’t realize umvc3 wasn’t being played this week. how often does that game get into rotation? it’s the only one i’m worthwhile at.
