Yo somebody (either Brandino or Alice-Chan) took my AV adapter with them last night. I’m gonna need that back ASAP b/c I can’t play my PS3 w/o it…
If you arent getting 30% on your bnbs METERLESS, you are almost wasting attacks. This is the problem I am having with all these combos people are saying they are finding and vids people are posting…they are burning precious meter for 2-4% extra on a 24% combo. Or they are posting WOOT I GOT A 40% midscreen combo but the shit uses two meters or even has an xray in it. So I personally say when looking for bnbs, go for 30%. I mean hardly any of the stuff people were posting was any good…24% juggles and crap. So I am looking to fix that.
BTW what character are you playing?
Alice-Chan: was he burning meter/xray in his 50% combos? If so take them with a grain of salt. Its almost as bad as people posting “death” combos in Marvel that use up EVERY single meter they have. MK is a very offensive minded game, that meter is going to be precious and its very hard to come by.
Long story short: METERLESS 30% bnbs or STFU

Wow, didn’t we just have this discussion when we compared Wesker and Zero in terms of mixup potential? Why does it seem like almost everyone thinks that all good mixup consists of only high/low 50/50? Yo dude, Fei Long’s mixup is so bad, his overhead isn’t that quick and you can’t combo off of it, plus his command grab is so slow! Now you tell me, as a Fei Long player, doesn’t that sound stupid?

I don’t know how I feel about the game, I’m not quite sure how you run offense. Cross ups are nonexistent, high/low mix ups are too slow and a lot of moves seem unsafe. The way it looks right now your offense revolves around frame traps and throws which I guess is similar to SF4. They’re even more effective since normal attacks do damage on block. Zoning feels risky considering how good teleport attacks are in this game.
I’ll reserve my judgment on the game until I see how well it holds up in major tournaments. Also I don’t support that online code BS.
Don’t forget the mad button checks at tournaments.

Brandino probably has it then since he was the one running his ps3 on AV on the small tv where as I only had an HDMI cable with me at the time so I ran it on his setup. If it’s what i’m thinking, that’s the red/white/yellow cable that came with the ps3 right? I can let you borrow mine until the next gathering when Brandino brings yours back.

No you’re missing the point. Fei long had lows, command grabs, and an overhead. Some characters have none of these in MK, the jump ins aren’t even overhead unless you do the punches with shitty hitboxes, and there are no cross ups. Most of the attacks are unsafe.
You have grab (HUGE break window that gets broke by mashing punch buttons of your choice) and normals. There’s some mixup there but I see turtling being a huge problem in this game at high levels. Then again, normals do block damage so I guess you can’t block forever.
Btu ehh whatever, I’m still playing it right now. It’s fun, I’ll play it if other people are playing it.
shrug there are mixups in every game, just depends on the system and options the characters have, which is what my point is, which most of NC’s community seems to miss all the time.
A lot of this probably comes from the fact that I don’t think anyone in our circle of players has ever played an MK game seriously, my understanding is that the games are actually quite offensive. Not every game works by the same rules. My suggestion would be to give the game more than one session’s worth of play before passing a grand judgement. Of course, I personally refuse to drop sixty dollars on it just to see if it could be decent, especially when I’ve never been an MK fan. Sooooooo, whatever.

us southern players should just meet up somewhere and just play a bunch of casuals. i think that’d be cool. i’ve never played super with anyone in person before and i think it would be pretty cool. just PM me if you know of any tournaments or any cool events. thanks!

Demo: Sheeva. Just found out she’s supposed to really suck combowise. I was doing about 1-2% off max. I may just dump her and pick someone easier, but not a ninja. All Sheeva’s got going for her it seems is a good X-ray gimmick and keepout.
