Wolverine has a message for all of you who believe he’s not top tier:

Quite serious on this issue as well, my working with the Elite Zone, was to establish a location and venue rate(my first goal), much like the standard Lucky’s was, a 5 dollar venue fee was in agreement , the other agreement is to not take up his equipment(my second goal) and right now I have a 40+ inch Sony Projection TV running trinitron tech and 2 27inch Sony trinitron CRTs, one being there now and one I’m taking there Friday, A friend will donate his 50+ Sony projection, much the same as the Projection TV there, but a newer model but I believe it doesnt lag according to my friend David Stover, but we’ll test to verify, I have the green light from David Paul to go get the Panasonic back from Lucky’s(The TV grand finals are usually played on) and bring it there, so 5 non lag setups for now and I do have access to 2 more Sony Trinitrons that I may be able to get, not too mention the owner says he may have one he would donate to the cause and is open to people bringing their own setup.
As William said, I’ve worked out a great rate with the Owner(John Larson), so I want to get you guys to come down, give some feedback. So come down this Friday, once I get the local approval/support from you guys, then I will start talks scheduling Tournaments…So whaddya say? See you Friday?
Man, looks like Fayetteville is heating up. Too bad though, I probably won’t make it out for about another two weeks or so. Definitely want to check it out, though.

Hope you do this easter weekend, i’m coming back to fayetteville and i’m looking for some sessions.
Why is the Hard Corps soundtrack so amazing? Seriously, need to buy this ASAP. C’mon Ishiwatari, be the moneygrubber I know you can be.
What time do you guys usually start, Kev? I’ll see if I can make it out.
William said he’ll be there by 6pm, I’ll have to take another TV there so I should be there earlier, Tom gets off at 11pm. Tell me what time is convenient for you and I’ll meet you there and we can get something to eat then go game. You should still have my number. I got a new phone, but its the same number. Hope you can make it!
Anyone else planning to show up, please let us know.
So I’m really going to try to get something going here during the week. It may be a slow build, but it’ll be something. Sort of like the Break tournaments or Xanbats but probably on Mondays. Angus and I have been playing 300+ matches on Mondays anyway.
Being in the retail position that I am, I literally work every single Friday and Saturday, without question. I’m always off Monday and Tuesday however. I’m juggling the idea of starting something if a venue will let me run it. Having moved from a 9-5, I’ve realized moreso that there is a bit of an “untapped” area of the scene around here that isn’t being catered to. What I’d like to do is get some weekly ranbats going and push push push and really promote them as a legit tournament outlet for those who can’t often get to tournaments on the weekends and not just some bullshit during the week. My doubts about turnout during the week have been my main reason for not getting something going sooner. I think that it would be nice to have a recurring event for those retail employees, restaurant workers, etc.
If I can make this happen, success or fail will largely depend on who is willing to make the drive (or walk in the rain). Cape Fear Games would be the most likely bet. If I promote this at some bars and around UNCW and CFCC, I think local turnout could be good. This is more of a longshot, but there’s also a bar/laundry downtown that reminds me a lot of Strange Matter in the setup (hosts a lot of shit), and another bar that has 10 arcade cabs, skeeball, ice hockey, pool tables (problem here would be space).
Oh - Kev, I’ll touch base with the Elite Zone guy tomorrow.
Yo RAWSKI, what’s the verdict on those Panasonics (do they lag)?
Oh yeah, I do think that Storm is better than Trish overall.
I would hit Fayetteville in my imaginary car pretty hard.
I use sougenmou as a sort of assist, and yeah it can die to push blocking but you can attack > command dash and the shadow acts as an assist covering you. As far as the air dash, the speed is actually what gives it it’s mixup options, if you dash and then attack early on, you get a j.C that doesn’t cross up, where as if you dash and then let it fly for a second, you can go behind them, or even hit on the left then right sometimes. Then there’s the height you press j.C at to vary the number of hits, or you can do j.2C and further vary the timing and hitbox on it to mess with people.
But the real strength is just his pokes and dominance of most of the space he’s in. Wesker minus an assist has better mixups than Zero without an assist but at the same time he has to get in a position to do those mixups, and I imagine he has a hard time getting around all the beam saber. But once again, I guess discussing if Zero is better than Wesker without an assist is pointless since everyone who plays Zero is gonna run him point.
Kinda off topic but what all does wesker do off gunshot OTG reset? C teleport and then mixups jumping attack and air throw as they tech, land and go low, and land and command grab? That does seem pretty good.
RE: Elite Zone, Fridays are kinda hard for me since I have work so I wouldn’t leave till 5:30-6 but I’d be up for carpooling if anyone wanted to in the future. I really need to unlazy and go talk to RUA Gamer sometime too, but I really don’t think I’d be very good at getting it all organized. Managing who’s bringing TV / Games / etc sounds like a lot of stress, on top of doing brackets.
I mean, it sounded to me like they do stuff till quite late over there. I plan to go May 6th and then also as much as possible in the summer and haven’t really planned to go before 5:30 anyways.
I can’t do this friday, unfortunately, but I’ll try my best to make it in the future.
Was wondering, what is the ranking of fighting games typically played in NC? Its looking with MvC3 at the top, but was wondering about others such as Blazblue and Tekken. I’m guessing SFIV will pick up again after AE drops on consoles. And what about Melty Blood and Arcana Heart, does NC not play those at all?
If you are up for it maybe we can work together on trying to find a regular location in Raleigh. I think everyone feels the same way you do (lots of stress to find a place, and then trying to run a tourney), but maybe if there was a group of people willing to rotate responsibilities, then none of us would have to do it all, and not every time. I think there’s enough interest among people in Raleigh to get a group together to make something happen.
a lot of people that go to uncw know about cape fear games so it shouldn’t be too hard to get the word out about the venue. just needs new tvs in that place I think.
We usually play Arcana at NC State. If there’s another gathering this Saturday, you can probably expect some games from me and a few others most likely.
We need to split responsibilities. We all have a lot going on it seems, and I’d love to help out. I wouldn’t mind taking on doing brackets and organizing seeds etc.
I also wouldn’t mind organizing the process of organizing everything, making a list of whose doing what and making sure each person that agrees to help out does so.
EDIT: When I get home tonight I’m going to set up forums for the NC scene. Some simple free forums that we can use for organization. We need more then just 1 thread. If the forums work out, they work out. If they don’t, they don’t.
We need some way of organizing multiple tournaments and events in multiple locations in one central spot so everyone can see it in case we want to travel, as well as assigning people responsibilities. 1 thread is not going to cut it.
