No Online Play in Tekken 6 = The Mistake that will sink Namco

… that too complicated, can you re-explain that?

Some things were said that I think are way off.

One thing worth mentioning is that the majority here seem to think there are only two major groups, CASUAL and HARDCORE.

This is false. There are three major groups.

There is Casual, players who venture to arcades, play online, or with friends.

Competitive, players who thrive in arcades, play online, and travel to tournaments.

Hardcore, players who eat, drink, and sleep fighting games. These are the guys who are constantly talking about frames, brokeness (is that a word), and the guys who find out all the cheap exploits within a game and broadcast them over the internet.

Just from reading the posts here, it seems that the majority thinks that the top level players are Hardcore, but they aren’t. All the known guys who travel to tournaments and are always near the top, those guys are Competitive, not Hardcore.

Hence, these players are usually only tops in 1, maybe 2 fighting games. This is because they stick with a game so they can win money at tournaments or achieve high online rankings. They like playing the games obviously, but their main objective is to be top level wherever they play.

These players can easily be classified by how much money they spend or how many hours they put in. If you goto your local arcade, they are there. If you go online, there they are. All the freaking time.

For the players who play for money, I can almost guarantee you that if there was lots of money to be made online, they would abandon offline in a heart beat. They would also adjust to any differences in online play and learn to win, because in the end it’s still just playing within the games limitations.

The casual player bounces around through many different games and doesn’t stick to one long enough to be top level at any of them.

But, make no mistake, there is fierce competition online. Noone pays for a system, high speed internet, XBOX Live, etc, just to dick around. So I take offense when you hear people saying that it’s not real competition if you play online.

So you feel you fit some of those examples?

But yeah good observation though, cause on some of them, I was referring to you and others like that.

Although, it’s not like it actually even matters anyway. I’m not here to change anybody, or anyone’s mind.

EDIT: This thread should just be closed. It’s not very good anymore, if it even was in the first place.

Lol This Is A Big Shocker…if They Put Online Play That Means Hardcore And Casual People Would Play It More Providing A Bigger Community In Tekken And Namco Making More Money…the Idea Of That Is Too Mindboggling For The World To Handle And Namco Knows That…so No Online Play!!!

No, hence why I posted to explain myself…but some people misunderstand.

There, fixed for you.

I totally agree about the rest btw.

yeah that too lol

lag + fighting = no

pretty much sums up this thread…

Can’t understand why no online…but Tekken always comes through. They impress me with every new game.I seen one of the new characters named Leo (RUNNING OUTTA IDEAS…HUH NAMCO?) This guy Leo looks exactly like Rock Howard.http://fightersgeneration.com/characters2/tk6_aou_01.jpg Anyways Tekken only gets better with the year.I’m sure this one will be pretty good.I hope though that if Jinpachi is in it that they take out that special where he shoots that beam out of his stomah, becuase he can do it even while laying downand it goes straight for you, and it takes out a huge chunk of life.

So you mean the PS3 has a lot of awesome fighters and equally Awesome action games to play? And later they will team up with Capcom to create a game that we had dreamed about for years?

In any event I think that any fighter lacking on-line play in this day and age is a huge mistake. It does not take that much more development time to add the feature and if you keep a decent server running for it you can have relatively low lag time. Also with a leader board and tournaments you will drive sales for your game and sell more units hence making more money.

But then again that makes sense and this is Namco we are talking about. They hate money otherwise they would have brought Namco X Capcom to the states along with a ton of other games we never get here.

Don’t get me wrong I’ll still pick up the game once my current problems are sorted out.

I honestly dont care about online play in fighting games
But thats because i live in so cal <-- need i say more?

Don’t tell Jae Hoon. His main argument against DOA4 was that Mariposa kinda looks and acts like Christie from T4. Even though she was the replacement for Eddie Gordo who’s a ripoff of Richard Meyer from Fatal Fury.

What the hell are you talking about!?

Firstly, none of these comments, are in anyway revelant to the topic at hand.

Secondly, YOUR WRONG.
La Mariposa plays nothing like Christie. Shes a Luche Libre hybrid.

Just because one or more characters have a similar fighting style, doesn’t mean there rip offs. Are you twelve years old or something?

Next your going to say Ganryu from Tekken and Taka Arashi from Virtua Fighter, are rip offs of Edmond Honda. You ass needs to grow up.

Seriously, to anyone who wants future games online.
Petition.
Your using this site to vent your frustration. Which doesn’t help your situation.

You fail at reading.

Please enlighten me.

I agree lol.But anyway I don’t think La Mariposa looked at all like Christie but I think the ideas were similar. They created Lisa who is La Mariposa before hand for DOAX.I couldn’t understand why they would give her similar moves to Christie. But since she is clearly Brazilian i guess it’s only right she do a little Capoeira.

Don’t you guys know that DOA is VF with bouncing jugs and a defend button?

Minus agreeing to the “You fail at reading” comment. Your right.
