Eventually means 2 or 3 years after CPS-3 and NOAMI hardware encryption is cracked… right . Still it’s a possibility in the future to have netplay for games that didn’t in the past. But, you would need a high-end pc to get the graphics on the PS3 or 360 (that is if you don’t want to get raped at 5 fps).
Damn Chibi, Im like an hour away from CF and Im still to lazy to go.
agreed. and anyways, the more demand for online fighters the more demand for better netcode.
thats you not everyone is willing to go that far to play, those gdt tournies I use to go to them because it was 75 min drive for me, ctf is a 90 min drive for me but you dont see me going every weekend because I have other things to do. Just because you sacrifice alot to get some games in doesnt mean everyone else is willing to do the same
Ok, first, for Virtua Fighter 5, I am just going by the box which has XBOX LIVE on it. I haven’t been keeping track of every development, so maybe it’s changed. I don’t know why because from what I always understood, Microsoft was forcing XBOX LIVE on most of it’s games. I can’t think of any fighting games that have come out on XBOX since they launched the first XBOX LIVE FIGHTER, that didn’t have online play. All of the SNK stuff, all of the Capcom stuff. I think the Midway and Capcom collections didn’t have it.
Also about the lag issue. Play Dead or Alive online. I know it’s not a popular game with the Breast Haters, but obviously Tecmo knows something that these other companies don’t because it’s smooth online about 90% of the time. I think most of the players who were at The World Cyber Games got there by playing online. You usually only see slowdown when someone joins your game who has a red ping.
About the “You can do this offline, but you can’t online, and blah blah blah.”
This is the case in any game from FPS to Madden Football. But, you adjust just like you do with the game offline. Like other posters said, you don’t have to play online. Those who want to play online will adjust to the gameplay and know what can or can’t be done. There is a whole other group of gamers who play mostly online. If you are good online than you can’t be any worse offline, so it can’t hurt you even if you try it.
As far as this hurting Namco, I think it does. Tekken is one of their top games, but most importantly, they are in bed with Sony and did most of their console business on the PS2. They have like 5-6 games coming up for XBOX 360. If the PS3 goes out, they are screwed.
Just looking at Tekken, the hardcore crowd will play it at the arcades, I don’t see them shelling out for a PS3.
Damn I got an arcade 15 minutes away from my house, I suddenly feel grateful now :wgrin:
Why the fuck does everyone act as if adding an online mode would make VS mode obsolete? If you are gonna bitch, stay the fuck offline and enjoy your game. I can see why the games aren’t online (People bitching) but casual players will ALWAYS outweigh the pros.
Thats the reason DOA and MK sells. People want a pretty mashy game and they want to play it from the comfort of their home. Throw something better online (Tekken, VF, etc.) and maybe they will play if they aren’t getting their asses kicked 24/7 or having to hear faggots bitch about arcade perfection.
Sure, the game won’t be perfect online but you would have more comp than the 20-30 “regulars” at one of the very few remaining hotspots.
EDIT: And no online play cannot just end Namco or Sega or whoever. Games will still be sold. And one franchise can’t hurt the whole company. Both Namco and Sega have heavyweights who can sell games on the name alone (Pacman, Sonic).
We were supposed to have an arcade/cybercafe-style center at our public library like 6 months ago for the high school students, but it looks like they dropped it. DAMN LIBRARIANS!!! :arazz::annoy:
Man I’m not even starting an arguement, just clarifying that I don’t have it easy either.
i think japanese developers JUST DONT CARE about the western market aka the US of A fighting game community in regards to online mode…
Hahah, I fell the same way, most of their games don’t have any online option. Although I really hope Brawl adds online play, but I won’t be suprise if they drop it at the last second, I wasn’t suprised Tekken 6 won’t have it.
I think online play can just be helpful for those who aren’t hardcore. No one is going to drive and hour and half for a game they’ve just started, or a game they are not that into. Having the online gives them a place to play human opponents, and while it’s not offline, it’s miles better than playing the CPU.
So for hardcore gamers, those who enters tournaments, drive hours to get to places to play, etc, online play isn’t a must. But for those who play casually (who could later become the aforementioned hardcore gamers) online play is good, because fighting games more than any other genre depend on having someone to play, even if that someone lags.
THANK GOD!!
Someone has finally realized that the Japanese are making games for themselves and not us.
AM2 lazy? Hell no!
There were talks about online functionality for ages. They could have easily implemented it, however they decided against it.
Why?
Because they along with Namco, can cover all there expenses in Japan through the arcade alone.
Dead or Alive 4!? Stop deluding yourself, the only reason why it?s online is because:
a) Tecmo stop releasing arcade versions of the game.
b) Microsoft owns it.
Also to shut you guys up.
A friend of mine who works for Sega of Europe, is testing the game’s online functionality.
Offline Players aren’t whining, it?s the online players that are.
How can you blame an enthusiast, for not wanting to play a half hearted, semi bullshit version of their game?
I lol’ed.
Well I know this one thing called reality, and it told me VF5 won’t be online
He’s testing it. However if you quoting this, out of all the other thing I mention.
Your morons.
I don’t care if its online of not, personally.
I’m just trying to let you know it’s being tested.
Deathsycthe, you don’t know how well I know the person.
Regardless I fixed that post to avoid further confusion.
^^^ missed fuzzy guards, throw escapes, and CHs FTW!!!:nunchuck:
You take two players and have them learn said fighting game for a year.
Player 1 can only play the CPU, but he is playing the game 100% lag free.
Player 2 can only play online, but has a supposed difference in gameplay from offline.
Both players put in the exact ammount of time.
After 1 year, you put them in a major tournament. Which one goes farther in the tournament?
My money is on Player 2.
Thats ridiculous. Both players have been sitting at home for a year, not trying to get real competiion.
Why would they enter a major tournament, if there won’t even enter a small one?
Proof or shut the fuck up.
Oh, and just put online in the games. We know it won’t be 100% right. Only harm aside from the current issues is that scrubs will assume their online skills make them Gods. But hey, that’ll just make beating them offline directly much more fun.
