I can’t believe it’s 2007 and we’re still getting retarded people joining this website. Is there a SHRED of hope for humanity? If you’re any indication, then let’s just nuke the world already.
Yeah, I think you’re forgetting the part where VF5 has NO online play on any console.
I hope you do realize that Namco publishes/makes games outside of Tekken, right?
online changes the game, maybe namco doesn’t want online play disgracing their hard work like sega
Finally a good point from you, there’s hope yet…
uhm. hes right, its fucking 2007, consoles have HEAVY emphasis on online play. theres no reason for a game to not have online play. yes we ALL know fighters are different online, some games being downright unplayabale. stop beating a dead horse. we all know this. but its stupid to be stubborn and not make a game online. people that say “gtfo of your house and play someone” obviously dont live in areas where there is no scene, PERIOD. we all dont live in socal or by CF and other random hotspots. then you add in games that arent popular offline to begin with. no one wants to play the fucking computer. every game should have online. if it sucks really bad like #r on xbox, then so be it. atleast its there as an option, not like you are forced to use it. if it plays great like amateur made netcode on pc fighters, then most of us win for the most part.
people act like adding netplay hurts the overall product of the game. pretty moronic thinking. adding netplay does not hurt at all and is just more icing on the cake. if you dont care for online, you dont have to play it online, you got a perfectly functional offline play for it.
bottom line is, EVERYBODY wins. and i think its really fucking gay of NAMCO and ESPECIALLY sega’s AM2 division to be really stubborn in this area. AM2 needs all the help it can get to make VF bigger in other regions outside of japan and korea that dont have thriving arcade scene’s. do i understand why they don’t want to do online? yes. we all know it fucks up crucial to the frame timing. do i agree with their decision tho? fuck no. i will accept online flaws if that means i can actually play people at games like VF5 and not go crazy playing quest mode all day. same with tekken. on top of that you ever think that online play can increase the scene with more players? i think thats pretty important for us to keep going.
i get tired of all these stupid excuses. i hate online play for the most part depending on game, but damnit that shit is a godsend when you have no one to play and the netcode is pretty fucking good(i.e. zsnes, #r pc).
the japanese developers dont understand the western market anymore IMO. japan has zero reason to have online. US has way too many reasons to need online minus the lucky ones that are blessed with a thriving local scene.
very dissapointing
For all that money, i’m sure namco could create tekken 6 with very good online play with minimal lag, Same can be said for Sega too with virtua fighter 5.
Also Fighter_guy999, if i could i would + rep you. Alot of the things you’ve been saying make alot of sense, if not always worded in the “correct” way. Don’t worry about all the cowards neg repping you, they just can’t handle the truth.
No Online? No buy…
this was made in the “What would VF5 be like online” thread. All of this applies to Tekken, aside from fuzzy guarding.
I brought up the point with pc fighters because it is a joke that they get better netplay code then these million dollar companies, but at the same time I said it wouldn’t sink Namco for shit. Servers for online play suck ass, bad. You don’t win by playing someone with lag, can’t they work on doing P2P, or is that not possible?
And I only brought up my ‘get out of your house comment’ because it sounded like the guy would never get competition for the game if online play wasn’t an option, and regardless of where you live, I don’t see that as being true.
Threadstarted should edit his post and copy/paste Sabre’s response.
I dont have that much competition around here, no arcades in the country, so netplay would be nice. I’d barely use it if it’d suck anyway
EDIT: Dude’s still an idiot
i wasnt really referring to you chibi, but a lot of people say that, and its not easy for some people to do at any given moment. and there are places where people have to drive for an hour or so to find some type of comp.
corner-trap: so what? its still a very stubborn reason to not add netplay. if you or the people in that thread dont like it online, they arent forced to play it, hence, it doesnt affect them in anyway if online is added. its just people being really stupid about the whole thing
Any lag on Tekken can make all the difference in the world between winning and losing.
It relies on frames for the moves and movement, and if 60FPS can’t be maintained, screw it.
I do not want to experience getting hit with Kuma’s Fatal Wind - he literally shits on you for the instant K.O., and is of course, the slowest and most worthless (albeit funniest) move in the game - when I was trying to fucking move or getting my CH (Counter Hit) rape on. I’d fucking retire after that “shit.”
autocrat: NOOOO SHIT, its like that with anygame, tekken isnt special in this regard… did you not read atleast my posts? we all know it wont be perfect. we get it!
sigh why am i even trying if people dont read
Actually, I have to drive 90 minutes (either east for Va Tech, or west for Tennessee) in order to play any human opponent at any fighting game. I’ve been trying to find some people to play with in this backwoods VA town I’m stuck in, but so far I haven’t found any in three months  SaBrE pretty much hit the nail on the head. Nothing bad can come from putting online play in fighting games.
I wouldn’t say it would sink namco but they should put it in anyway.
yeah it wont sink them by anymeans. but as each year passes, the marketshift goes more and more toward online functionality. they should start now, and with each release, keep improving on the netcode technologies
Hey it’s okizeme :wgrin:
If they don’t add netplay, eventually the emulators will. I think a slight majority of games of KOF played in the US are probably through Kaillera.
screw emulators. i dont want to use emulators for current games. also, i dont feel like waiting 10+ years for vf5 to be emulated lol.
wtf
Do you guys think I live right above CF?
Things in NJ were dead last year, so I said fuck it, and started running tournaments. I got people from MD, CT, NY, and PA to come each month for almost a year. It grew bigger and better up until the location closed down.
It takes me roughly two hours to get to CF. It takes me 3 1/2 hours to get to the ‘spot’ where the MB NYC crew resides. I’ve gone 9 hours by two buses and three different train lines across 3 states to play Melty Blood. I’ve sat in a car at 4 am in the morning for 8 hours to go down to VA for Melty Blood.
Seriously, where the hell did I excuse myself from having to bust my ass to get competition?
