OK guys, for those playing SSF4 and don’t care that much for the 3d effect, turn it off from the in game options (not just from the slider) and you will get 60 fps. 3d turned “on” in the in game options with 3d slider off is still somewhere below 60 fps. Just thought I should share this for folks to try it out.
A couple of dumb questions:
- Is there a 3d effect for ds games?
2)Can you use the nub to move around in ds games?
No 3D effect in DS games but you can use the nub to move around in DS games. I don’t know how many games it works for, only tried it in Pokemon Black so far.
The nub would be great for super mario 64. I could never play that game with its dpad controls
I got to try one out at walmart…totally not wowed. 3d looks lame, almost as bad as those 3d hologram stickers, and the screen seemed…well, too small (in fact everything on it seemed that way, except for the acual overal system size. I know who n’s products are generally marketed to, which explains the liliputian sizes of N’s portable pads, screens and buttons…they had to make a larger ds because unexpected amounts of adults were complaining. It would have been nice if they’d done that by default for this portable). As for the system itself…no, buttons too small, pad likewise, basically it once again looks like an unwieldy child’s toy rather than a cool piece of tech. Will wait to see what the NGP offers. Gamewise, that is (crosses fingers for mvc3p). We all know the pad, analog nubs, buttons, and overall look/feel are on point.
You can, but it isn’t ideal compared to a DSi.
3DS has a higher resolution screen, plus it’s a little bigger than a regular DS.
1.Keep same resolution and have tiny screens on the 3DS.
2.Blow up the tiny screens, and you have a softer image, which they say looks blurry.

The tiny screens, I couldn’t play like that, but depending on how blurry the enlarged screen is, it might be acceptable.
It’s the same as playing Gameboy pocket and gameboy color games on a gameboy advance. I got used to it when that was out. It’s the same as watching non-HD content for me too, so I can get used to it.

I got my Aqua Blue 3DS and love it. My girlfriend is awesome, cuz my birthday isn’t until August but she got me one now as an early gift :love:. I also have Rayman, classic awesomeness.

I wasn’t able to pick mine up day 1 like I wanted too because of life problems. (RRAAAAAAGGEEE) An associate of mine let me play his and I’m really hating the fact that I can’t pick mine up yet. Face Raiders and the AR games are awesome pack in games.

Got mine through Amazon, took advantage of their $25 off a launch title offer. Problem is the lineup is decidedly meh. Didn’t like Rayman much on the PS2, may just go with SSF4. Anyone have a game that’s blowing their minds yet? I see Rayman being mentioned, but like I said, I could never get into it.
picked on up yesterday along w/ two titles: nintendogs and pilotwings. Straight off the bat I think this is a cool piece of machinery. I’ll admit that it tires your eyes and is not the console you want to play hours on end. Save youself the money and do not buy nintendogs. My wife got a kick out of it, but after 15 mins you get tired of it quickly. Pilotwings is alright, I haven’t had a chance to play that much.
The titles at launch are lame to say the least.

The 3D does strain the eyes, but you don’t really notice (at least I didn’t) until I had to come out of my awesome little 3D augmented reality world and my eyes focused like they normally do. It’s also worth mentioning that I wear glasses and this is like, the first time EVER that I’ve been able to experience the 3D effect (since other things require glasses which means I can’t see it in 3D or it’s blurry as fuck because I don’t have my glasses on), good on Nintendo for saying no to the fucking glasses.
Face Raiders and the AR Games are the shit. AR Games easily has so much potential that if Nintendo doesn’t take advantage of that shit with the next Pokemon game I’m going to be upset. It would print so much money they wouldn’t know what to do with themselves. Konami could use it for Yu-gi-oh card battles as well. Seriously…I’d almost say the absolute first thing every 3DS owner should do before even popping open any of the retail games would be messing around with the stuff that’s already packed in with the system.
Apparently there’s been some issues with some 3DS’ crashing. The it’s not that common but it has happened to a few. If it happens then Nintendo recommends downloading the latest firmware.
Also aRE: Revelations demo is getting packed in with mercenaries in japan.. No word yet on if that will appear over here in the west yet but I’m optimistic.
Played the 3DS for a few mins in Best Buy on Monday. Man, I’d soooooo get Pilotwings Resort. It may be light on content but it was so freaking fun. That and I’m a Pilotwings fan.
3DS is effing amazing. It’s the first use of 3D that doesn’t hurt my eyes. Eff you glasses, you’re fired. :lol:
Picked SSF4 on it, feels just like the original in my experience. Owned some masher online already too.
Pilotwings Resort is legit according to Alpha (haven’t played it yet). And I’m also a huge Pilotwings fan to props to you sir.
This thing needs a Monster Hunter game on it. If they did a cross platform Wii/3DS Monster Hunter it’d be on like Donkey Kong.
EDIT: We should get Friend Codes going on this thread if we haven’t already, since they finally learned the lesson and they’re universal.

Thinking about it…I wonder if Treasure has it in them to do another 2D bleach fighting game. All we need is one more Treasure. 
Capcom has a 3DS announcement at Captivate in 2 weeks, apparently. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was Monster Hunter since I guess it was originally supposed to be announced at Monster Hunter Festa. Also, fuck traditional Pokemon with AR. Okay, do it sometime, but make Pokemon TCG 2 with AR first.
