Nintendo 3DS - Best Handheld Today

3D is marketing scheme to get you to pay 5 bucks more per ticket at the movies and to sell home theaters that will be obsolete in a few years when networks realize that putting on stations that <1% of their viewers can watch are not sustainable.
Maybe im just being that old guy who sits on his porch screaming about how everything used to be better but I cant help that.

I cant imagine a “no glasses” 3d screen will have much of a viewing angle unless its just .
Whats the point of spending more time rendering the multiple copies of images it would take to achieve the popout of the screen 3D effect when you can just use that extra processing power to render better looking games on a higher resolution screen.

Just got my 3DS!

woot!

Looks quite funky…still it will be too expensive for my wallet.

I’ll probably hold off until a Castlevanai games comes out on the system.

a lot of people can’t grasp this concept. At the end of the day, I would think that the 3DS would sell more than the PSP2. Nothing against the PSP2 because I believe their niche is high end hardware. If sony tried to do what Nintendoes, then they would probably not be as effective in the low end/casual gamer market…

I thought that there was a 3DS thread…I’ll subscribe to it so I don’t lose it this time.

Edit:

Out of any developers to make something for this system I’m hoping Vanillaware does at least one game.

is there another 3ds thread?

3DS is region-locked (and region-specific in pretty much every way), right?

so ive heard. but theres always ways around that. just takes a lil more effort.

I wonder how the launch went in Japan today… haven’t heard of any shortages, so hopefully it’ll be the same situation here next month! This will be my first handheld since the original gameboy

I heard something to the effect of “sold the first shipment of 400k in under an hour”, so yeah. It pretty much dominated, there’s already 3DS versions of the “It prints money!” Gif going around.

I’ll probably get one when the 3DS Lite comes out in 3 months.

I bought two. So just in case the 3DS lite doesn’t come out in a few months and it’s sold out everywhere, you can buy my spare version for double the msrp.

I’ll keep that in mind.

Amazon is still taking pre-orders so I might do that but I don’t want it to end up like MvC3 and them being backordered and me not getting one till who knows when.

I’m going to avoid buying it at launch because I’m poor. But the way things look, that means I might have trouble finding one at all.

I may not even get one. Launch title wise there isn’t shit I want.
The only game I’d end up buying is Samurai Warriors Chronicles for my girlfriend.

I have 2 on preorder. one thing to remember is nintendo hasnt advertised this outside of the video game market. I havent seen a commercial for this at all, and not a lot of people know about it outside of the gaming world. If they do this, which they should? then im sure it will pick up. I heard of some people in japan going to a store for a lottery to even be able to buy one.

And yes launch titles are shit as of now, but I keep seeing new games pop up every day I didnt even know were being developed.

So what’s the verdict? I really want one, but I also bought a DS, DS Lite and was eventually given an DSi XL. so I figure this is going to get some sort of update eventually, and I don’t want to wastemmoney. Should I just wait until some major titles drop? or is it cool enough to dive right into?

also, my friend found this odd glitch with the 3DS sleep mode…pretty weird

I’m waiting. I bought the DS then DS Lite and was all like “Fuck Nintendo” over the DSi. I’ll wait till the second revision for this thing. Plus none of the games look like out right system sellers. Hell most of the sweet looking stuff are just ports.

I’m beting this is going to be the first bomb the big N has had in quite a while.

Not only is the starting lineup utterly “meh”, but it’s the economy, stupid.

$250 bones for a handheld?

With region locks?

And the aforementioned bleh to eh launch titles?

Excluding gamers with astigmatism?

Having a battery life very nearly on par with the flavor of grape gum?

And people used to scoff at the idea of smartphones arping this market…

As I see it.
