There aren’t really classes and jobs so much in MH. The weapons that you have will determine whether you’re going to be at the for front of taking Monsters down or in the back of course…The only weapon I can think of that can act like a white mage/healer class is the bow gun because you can actually shoot healing shots with it. You can change your characters appearance…the demo just doesn’t have that in it. You pick weapons according to both your own style and the monster you’re going up against. MH feels slow and it’s deliberate with most weapons. Not all the weapons are slow though…Sword and shield is a good start and the Lance has a shield on it and probably has the best defense out of all the weapons. I’ve watched Rioting Soul get right up into several monster’s grills’ in the heat of battle with a lance that I wouldn’t fucking dare do with a long sword for fear of eating a 65% counter hit to my life bar. The game is about patience and learning each monster’s habits and quirks, this even boils down to taking the time to sharpen your blade or finding a moment to heal yourself with a potion. If you just run in hacking and slashing and hoping for the best then you’re going to end up on a gurney taking the trip of shame back to the base. Aimed at children? I never got that at all about Monster Hunter, what makes you say this?

Also the controls have been pretty much the same on portables since it’s debut on PSP. The only difference is you can now have better access to camera controls through the touch screen or the the 2nd analog nub. I’m mostly going to be playing MH3U on Wii U but plan to pick up the 3DS version to do some hunting on the go.

I almost forgot to touch on another one of your points. Not every mission that you take on in Monster Hunter will involve hunting a monster…but pretty much everything you do will lead to taking down one. You may be tasked to go out and collect some materials that you could need for potions, nets, shock traps, etc.

This vid actually gives a pretty nice look into how most of the weapons move save for the new ones they put in 3U
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SJDqiujJeE

I was mostly a Switch Axe and longsword guy when I played Tri but I’m thinking about giving the Bow a shot.

The only reason those little guys are there is to give you support in fighting the monsters. They distract and attack it though their attacks do pretty much piddly damage. It gives the monster something else to look at so it’s not gunning for you 100% all the time giving you time to either set up for attacks, get some health, sharpen swords, ect.

<div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”>Pac-Man And Galaga Dimensions is super fun, solely because it has Galaga Legions on it. Badass fucking game, but I really love shmups. Mario 3D Land was very fun with excellent use of 3D. Castlevania comes out next week; I assume it will be good. Same with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (but I hear some people say you’ll need the Circle Pad Pro).
<div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”>

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>The eShop has some dope and inexpensive games too. Night Sky was great, especially if you like experimental games or puzzle games. Kirby’s Adventure is in my experienced opinion the best game for NES, and you can play it in 3D.

Pushmo, Kid Icarus, Zelda, Mario 3D Land.

Is NSMB2 better than 3D Land?

I haven’t played NSMB2 yet but the general consensus is no. NSMB2 is just a there if you just want a 2D Mario fix. It’s not bad by any means especially with the DLC stuff but 3D Land is AWESOME.

Edit:

Nintendo is getting sued again…this time by some guy claiming that the 3D tech they’re using in the 3DS was his…despite the contrary
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=516540

Castlevania LoS MoF demo is up on the eShop…Downloading now.

Edit: So far the biggest complaint is inconsistent frame rate from what I’m reading on Gaf. People are praising the graphics for it…I won’t get a chance to play it until later.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=514727&page=4
I was gonna skip Castlevania for the time being just cause theirs already other games coming in March that I want and Etrian Odyssey has me pretty sucked in but I’ll get it if the demo is fun.

Tried the monster hunter demo. I like the feel of the bow weapon. It doesn’t feel too punishing in animation, though I bet the damage just sucks in comparison to something like the great sword.

I couldn’t figure out how to select what looked to be different arrow types, maybe that would speed up the killing of the Lagombi. I chase that asshole to 3-4 different zones and I ran out of time.

Camera sucks without a secondary stick.I really wish Nintendo just bit the bullet and included a secondary thumb pad above or below the buttons on the right side. It would have removed the necessity of having to use that godawful accessory.

Although I believe I played pso blue burst on pc without having free camera turn and did fine on it. The annoyance I guess is because the capability is there, they just chose not to put it in for some reason.
Shinobi is a must buy if you like really hard old school platformers. Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart are the obvious answers. Also Cave Story 3D is great if you haven’t played the original.
In addition to Bravely Default, I hope they also bring over DQ7 because it looks fantastic. If not, then I hope Nintendo grabs it because they did a great job with DQ9.

The location of Chapter 12 is where you can get more Beast stones for the first time.

I just got my first Streetpass interaction for FE: Awakening a few days ago and wiped out the team with little effort. I feel bad for the guy that got my team, it is full of freaking monsters if he tries to face them straight up.
Castlevania MoF demo is pretty baller.

Yeah,I’m definitely getting that game.

Castlevania is such a dark game wow.
CV demo gives me hope that my early prediction about it possibly being one of the best in the series may actually be true. Retarded gaf bandwagoners hate it for the most part:rofl: Frame rate was a little inconsistent but the combat, graphics, and platforming are just so on point it’s not too distracting a flaw.
