Nintendo 3DS - Best Handheld Today

Fuck the 3DS.

I have one bad eye (right), and as a result the 3D effect just makes everything blurry and gives me a headache. Oh, and everything on the screen moves to the left when I turn 3D on.

Is this the composer than puts all the electric guitar in a series that really doesn’t need or jive with electric guitar?

Sucks to hear. If it is discovered that extended use of 3D functionality will melt our eyeballs gradually, then you can rest knowing you’ll be the last one blind.

In other news, Rayman 3D is amazing… again. Screw the naysayers, this is the best portable version of Rayman 2 out there. It never gets old. The voodoo atmosphere combined with epic music makes this a spectacular launch game for the 3DS.

Also, it’s the only way to play Rayman 2 in full 3D, so there. :p.

Lol you ass. Electric guitar is Castlevania! And she didn’t honestly. What she brought to Castlevania is consistent quality music.

Dude, it’s “jibe”, (meaning something is fitting, it matches, it’s being consistent with something else, or it makes sense), not “jive”, which basically means just fooling around, or something not really productive, I.E. what young brothers do hanging out on the stoop in the projects, or suburban teens do in McDonalds while throwing french fries at each other: just jiving around.

just fuck up your other eye, so it balances it out.

No…

is the screen bigger than dslite??

^ Yes it is, the top screen at least is wider than DS lite’s top screen

Also, the graphics are noticeably better, its not like is just the old DS with a 3d effect. Imagine PSP graphics but without pixelated textures and better shaders.

Toyed around with the 3DS today, the 3D effects are decent, and with ability to adjust the level of 3-dimensionality I don’t see why there’s major complaints about the feature. It’s not that revolutionary though, and certainly not a rush buy.

3/5

Maybe it’s just me but i’ve noticed lingering visual effects after playing my 3DS for an extended period (30mins+). When i’m looking at words on my monitor for instance, it’s as if the letters look like they are 3D… weird.

hahaha that can’t be good.

I actually don’t associate electric guitar with castlevania. I think of more moody, orchestrated, or solemn pieces of music when castlevania pops in my head.

I find it strange that a lot of people are dismissing the 3ds because the 3d doesn’t enhance gameplay. That’s like not buying the ps3 because hd does nothing to enhance gameplay over the ps2. This thing isn’t just a ds with a 3d screen.

My problem is the fact I know Nintendo. I am still rocking a DS Phat. I’ll just wait until the 3ds Lite comes out to get it cheaper with more features. Which will probably be before Xmas.

There are so real games out right now that catch my eye anyways. Plus I want them to extend the battery life a bit.

really? I hope you’re talking about christmas of next year because I find that more feasible then them releasing a hardware redesign in the same year as the as the when they debuted the platform. I seriously wouldn’t be expecting a hardware upgrade for at least 1 1/2 to 2 years. Reason?

GBA(June 2001) to GBA SP (March 2003)

DS (Nov. 2004) to DS Lite (June 2006)

seriously, this isn’t apple. while i’m sure a redesign change is already in the works, i doubt it will be out before christmas of this year.

Oh, I don’t doubt that there will be a lite version in a couple of years. I’ll deal with the phat model until then. On another note, I turned on my gba sp after not touching it for a good 3+ years and spilling water all over it. That sucker STILL had a charge haha

Maybe there will be a Lite version down the road, but it is over a year away. If they did one for this xmas, it would say they fucked up on the initial design.

If you ask me the 3DS is too small, and already the size of a DS Lite, it would be better bigger.

I think some are focused on the 3D aspect as representing the only “revolution” with the 3DS; the system is really Nintendo’s next full handheld, not just an upgraded DS. Part of the problem is that their full set on online features hasn’t been rolled out yet. The big firmware update happens in May.

Even so, for an affordable hand held device ($250 is not steep given how much is crammed into it), the 3DS does have a lot of more subtle features that will make a difference in the long run. Its online infrastructure is more sophisticated than the Wii, ironically. Even at launch; SFIV actually works perfectly, and more advanced features like fight request during live gameplay are functional.

The AR games with the unit are samples, but its AR functionality is actually pretty advanced due to having stereoscopic cameras; easier to triangulate surfaces and create accurate interactions with them. The gyroscope in the system is also more advanced than that in the Wii or Wii Motion+; it has a magnetic compass like Sony’s Move, and the system can tell which way is up, where it is pointing, etc. The Face Raiders game is impressive in this regard.

I suppose it’s just a very nice piece of kit with a lot of bobbles that developers can hook games off of. Once more games are out and folks stop thinking of it in terms of just the 3D feature, I think it will seem like a generally attractive platform whether or not one uses the 3D functionality.
