sorry if this may seem noobish, but what are the basic genei jin infinites?
I think yun may be a new main fo me.

Thanks. I’ve tried both and I’m getting it a lot more often but still not totally consistent. I think I’m a little more successful with the negative edge way you suggested though (and I also seem to be activating slightly faster when I do).

Yup, that’s where I started. I saw one that’s something like…

I. Knock up w/ either upkick or MK.

II. Forward + MK repeatedly until opponent is close-ish to the ground.

III. QCB + P (or that weird double “iron palm” command normal where Yun extends both hands) when juggled opponent starts to get low to the ground.

IV. Repeat steps 2 and 3.

I just wanted to find out some others besides the one written above… Although I need to practice that first-I just started w/ Yun.

And a corner trap is for keeping the opponent in the corner right? I know that sounds a bit retarded, but I’m kind of an amateur. SF “ain’t popular round these parts of North Carolina, y’dig?”

I started out using mainly the mp.shoulder repeatedly after a knockup so I could practice not dropping my opponent. Basically getting down the “Ey! Ey! Ey!” rhythm has helped me a lot in branching out to more improvisation. Also, any of JD’s posts have tons of info.

i’m having trouble figuring out how to buffer genei jin after a 123. i know i’m just missing the trick but i especially have a hard time with super motions on 1p side. is it jab short qcfstrong qcfstrong (negative edge?) i’ve been playing with it but too often i get 12 activate instead of 123.

i’m stuck playing on ggpo so i cant exactly practice nice, but i cant use my stick on ps3 so bleh.

Just get FBA and practice with savestates. Build meter, press f10 to save, f9 to reload.

how do u end the cr mp upkick ender whats the timing its awkward

walk forward, press down, then press cr medium punch, hit down/forward and low kick

sorry i mite be blind but i was wondering how to do his 3 hit (ithink) palm strike and not the super? people do this to me alot and now and im wondering how its done since i cant find it in any guide… it could be yang who does it i could be wrong!

I think you mean strong -> fierce -> back fierce?

Its more fun exploring the character on your own. However, yun is quite hard character for beginners, you should check the move list on a hosted guide. I have included all his moves on my tutorial, too. I don’t agree with sa1, though. Yun’s best attribute are the high damage combos. He has too low life points to tank sa1 and release his shin shoryuken clone move. Sa3(genei-jin) is what makes him top tier(overpowerd). Try to practise lp,lk,mp, xxgj, kara moves and learn some basic genei-jin combos. When you are happy with the results, you will want to learn more and improve your mix up game.

I’m fairly new to Yun. I’ve been using You Hou, but I decided that I want to learn how to Genei Jin.

I have a very basic question: How do you connect the MP after 123xxGJ?

I must be doing something very wrong because I can’t seem to get the MP to combo properly unless I mash it, and even then it’s not 100%.

Am I cancelling the back+HP too late? Do I have to input the MP before or after the GJ animation finishes?

Also, what is the general strategy after activating GJ? Are you trying to get them into juggle state by mixing up high and low? What else should I be doing other than landing a HP shoulder to get them to the corner?

It’s a very noob question, so i figured this is the thread to ask it in. I’m looking for a very specific answer, like down to the frame.

What are the moves that launch people during GJ?

I know of f.HP, palm, shoulder, cl.MK… anything else? What are some good strings to use to land a launcher?

General strategy of GJ is corner pressure and high damage. Once you activate Genei-Jin on a cornered opponent, you have several options to pass through his defense(Usually, cornered players are on crouch and defense pose) . Switch between lk and st mp till they let their guard off , kara command grab/kara cartwheel them and combo them, use yun overhead at right distance to break through their defense and follow up with c.LK, F+HP, and finish with any juggle combo you may know. If you feel cocky , you can bait the cornerned opponent for a low attack. Then, parry low and punish with anything.

If someones back is to the corner learn to command grab, mk dragon kick, mp shoulder to bring them back to the corner but in a juggle state. Scaled as fuck damage but, meh.

Doesn’t work on a few characters I think though.

It should work on all the characters I think(correct me if I’m wrong), but some like Chun, Makoto and Q you can do command grab then cl.MK launcher, dash under and Palm. The damage scales, but you get more meter back after you finish the combo, especially if you grab them when the timer’s like 60% gone or so.
