NEW Up to Date Rules: Updated April 18th 2011

Not if you dont have the 6 months + 100 posts.

See, that’s what I thought, so this must have slipped through.

handled, we dont catch everything (bidding also already ended for that)

since a lot of people have been asking (mostly 09s), no you can’t sell through ebay links on srk if you dont meet the rule requirements here yet. The 100 post count got nerfed to 50, so you’ll need 6 months and 50 post to qualify.

What no infraction? You’se gettin’ soft!

im in a good mood, it’s payday for me

Hey for some reason everytime im trying to change the title of my thread it never changes, this like the 4th time. Should I just make a new thread?

Just PM me what you want and I’ll change it.

Hey guys, I was wondering, now that we have the feedback system, perhaps 09’ members may be able to get a new/secondary way to be able to sell in the forums? I was thinking maybe something like…

-500 posts
-Must be a member for one month
-minimum of 10-20 100% positive feedback

Perhaps being a good buyer with enough people could warrant trust? Then you throw the post count requirement on top to make sure they are actively contributing to the community.

Just an idea to help 09’ members (like myself) who love buying and would love to contribute and sell to the community.

Of course again, just an idea, it’s tough on us 09’ dudes with the time restriction, though I completely understand the justification of it, perhaps there could be alternative ways that require more effort from the individual but with circumstances in which they can control.

Also new members who have a training dummy from Galaxy Fight as their avatars should be allowed to sell and trade automatically.

But seriously, it kind of sucks for myself and maybe some other legit 09’ members who may have stuff they want to sell to other members. I mean, I have buttons, boards, and a slew of other random goodies that people around here might actually want, and I’d rather everyone here got first dibs than someplace like ebay.

Well, this isn’t much of a solution, but I’ve just been putting stuff I find that would be well catered for this site like old controller pcbs back for when 6 months does hit.

Yeah not really my aim with my suggestion :razzy:

Also you could throw being a prem member as a requirement as well, why not eh? That shows dedication to the site as well

Hey just a suggestion.

Is the reason ur making that 6 month rule to keep out people that just want to use the for sale section and never actually play the game or want to become part of the sf community, is that right?

To weed out the people that actually want to be productive and the people that are just using the forum i suggest that you should allow 09’ers the ability to trade but not sell.

Again this is just a suggestion (not complaining or anything) and only reason is because i have a ps3 te stick and need a 360 one but i have trouble finding a candidate.

I believe why those not allowed to sell / trade for 6 months from the time they first joined was reasonably explained before, but I cannot find the post because the lack of a proper search function on these boards since it was nerfed.

Who is more likely rip off someone? a person who has put considerable time with the community and is relatively known and is less likely to leave due to time invested in the community, OR a newcommer who is has no reputable background and unknown with no established credibility?

It would not do well for a new user to claim to sell goods on this website only to collect payment and not deliver what was offered. i.e taking the money and running, essentially.

Whereas someone who has put considerable time here has much more to lose. There is alot of people on SRK that have real-life meet ups, be it a local tournament or gathering at an Arcade.

If a long time standing user where to rip off his customers, his credibility and reputation would be ruined and a stigma would be associated with that individual.

Even if a long time user never did any sort of meet up. Paypal is the main form of payment around here. Is one truly willing to join just in the attempt to sell and leave over someone who has spent considerable time here, his IP address well confirmed at this point by the Administrator as well as possible address information as well getting his paypal account locked due to fraudulent activity.

That is why new users cannot sell or trade here. The 6 month period as well as 100 post count requirement is a sort of period in which people here will better know more about the new person, and If anyone spent any considerable time on SRK at all should have a considerable understanding on how this community works. Someone that has been here for 6 months should especially have a good enough idea how things work around here and the type of people they are dealing with by that time frame.

If you look at it from that perspective it’s easy to understand why those rules were put into place.

This is why I love this place. SRK Actually looks out for its user. Even all the lame ass 09’ members including myself.

Yeah I understand this exactly, I was just trying to suggest an alternative way to have new members prove their worthiness. See, take for example myself, I have good rep, I have multiple good sales transactions with other members, and I’ve even contributed to the community (my sticky in tech talk). However I’ll be doomed to wait until September to sell any of my extra stuff, which I would really like to be able to give to the community while people really want them.

See, the one thing I simply cannot control is time, but there are so many other ways I can prove my trustworthiness, that I feel a lack of time can make up for it. I feel that it would take a considerable amount of effort for a new member to go through many trials such as multiple purchases, a paid membership, a very high post point, all for the sake of ripping people off at the end.

See what I’m getting at with it? In the end I don’t really mind, it’s just a suggestion that I thought made sense, unless someone can explain to me “No Koop you’re an idiot see x y z”

if this issue hasnt been touched there are still people selling on here wanting to charge buyers to pay for their paypal fees. this is against paypal’s terms of service and should be enforced here on srk.

It is still wrong if person calculate PayPal Fee already in price, right?
But then how know?

I posted about this earlier and it didn’t get a reply. If people really want to charge a fee for paypal, they should just add a dollar to every item to balance it out. Its fine to compensate yourself for taking paypal, but paypal doesn’t allow its customers to charge others a fee for the service. They can and might refund the buyer if you are reported and they may also close your account and ban you from the service.

I dont understand why charging paypal fees is bad? Anyway, its not like anyone knows, all you have to do before hand is consider how much you want to sell the item then add 3% + cost of shipping & then post the price you want to sell it for…

As for 09 members not being able to sell in the forum, i hadn’t had any problems with them yet when they are the buyers…I think it would be cool for 09ers to sell stuff here already, always nice to have more options of buying cuz Al is always snatching everything…Just have them ship first?
