NEW Up to Date Rules: Updated April 18th 2011

I just saw another topic started by someone who had an old account. He was told he had to prove he had an old account. Is there a way that I could show I had an old account so I could sell something?

I’d imagine if you have an old account or proof on an old account you can make do with it, but the issue is finding evidence of the account/proving it belongs to you.

Unless you can log back into that account and message one of the mods, nope.

Yeah- when I went to recover password, there was no history of my old account. Plus it allowed me to create a new one with the same user ID. Is there a way to view the old forums? I know I had a lot of posts on there. I’ve sold things and hosted tournaments. I also have old emails from the forum from topic replies.

Is this something that should be reported when spotted as I’m seeing this more and more or is this up to the eventual buyer to report? I ask because every major carrier (USPS, UPS, FedEx) has functions on their websites that allow for IMO very accurate estimates of shipping costs AND there have been a couple of times where I’ve been interested in something but didn’t feel like dealing with someone who had no compunction about overcharging $7+ for shipping.

what happens if I want to sell something but I dont know the true value, who can I ask as I have a mad catz stick SSFIV which is the limited SDCC 2009 one but the only price I can find is a crazy amazon one

Yes you should report it.

The Price Check Thread Just for you.

Wondering this too. :frowning: Just recreated now…

Did you ever hear back?

Thank you

I thought it’d be more appropriate to ask here than in the actual thread but when I read d3v’s post in this want to buy type thread, I became a bit confused. It was said that the original poster didn’t meet the requirements to start the thread to begin with. I would’ve been under the impression that the normal prerequisites regarding membership and post count don’t apply for buying due to some of Ephidel’s posts such as:

This one here.

and a statement made in the 2011 guidelines thread:

And the first post in this thread where it said:

Noting that there is no reference to buying anything. Only trading and selling. It seems to make sense that way since the buyer’s end of the bargain is easier to fulfill and protected via paypal’s dispute resolution program or something of the like, they can be required to pay up front. Where as if somebody’s shipping something out under the promise of compensation and claims to have not received anything in return, it’s more or less impossible to definitively prove whether or not they really held up their end of the bargain.

I thought I read the guidelines very thoroughly but perhaps I missed something… Did I? Just asking 'cause it’d be nice to know who can and can’t buy stuff and I’m not sure what the requirements are, if any exist.

Those guidelines are for selling/trading only. We do not discriminate against buyers that want to use the TO, if we did, we would have less business flow than normal.

How strict is the 50 post thing, I’ve been a member for like 9 months now, work for a credible site in Games Cast (i hope at least haha), have thousands of posts on teamliquid (starcraft 2 forum) and could have a lot of tournament streamers vouch for me, but I think I’m at like 30 posts and am looking to make a thread selling my stick within the next day or two. Do I have to go into the Yun/Phoenix forums and make 20 more posts before I can make that thread or are exceptions made once in a while? If I could get some credible streamers to PM someone vouching for me will that be okay?

Very strict. You are better off aquiring the 20 post needed. It’s possible to present your case to the admin, they can approve anybody on the spot but the reason has to be good enough.

I guess I’ll just make a few more posts before making my thread then, thank you for answering.

I’m not trying to be a dick or anything but I kinda notice certain people on here that don’t have the 50 post requirements blatantly just post in these trading outlet threads without any relevance to actually buying or selling anything. This isn’t allowed is it?

They are not Buying or Selling?
The 50 Post thing is for Selling only.

The Trading Outlet used to have a setting that would not allow a Thread made.
Thread would only be an option when the Member has at least Fifty Posts.

So, I have not 50 posts. But I just want to buy stuff for now. Can I start a thread? And what should I put on the Topic title? BUYING ETC…

Thank you.

wait, we can’t shit on people’s prices anymore? when/why did this happen?

Yes, just start the thread title with WTB: "stuff "

It hurts their feelings and then they come complain to us

what happened the previous feedback we had? has it been wiped out from the forum update?
