New trick up our sleeves: The Hsien Ko changelog

More than that, I want to see how it changes her loop.

But anyway, let’s start talking strats for using her jump cancels. Right off the bat, the only thing I can think of (aside from combos) is jump canceling 6M or 6H on an airborne blocking opponent and doing an air gong. You can probably even tiger knee it? After that, I think you can probably get a decent amount of defensive and even offensive options. Specifically, what I have in mind is:

6M or 6H (blocked) tiger knee air gong, land, gong xx rimoukon, tag out or DHC out

Safer Rimoukon setup with Hsien on point? Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiight be pretty bueno. We’ll see!

Yeah, I’m wondering if it’ll make the timing a little more lenient. Hopefully to don’t have to stop mashing early to input the Gong command.

I wonder if anyone’s going to rep her at NorCal vs. Capcom 2 tonight… At the last NvC, the one guy who picked her got beaten pretty badly and was made fun of.

Also wondering what can be done with tiger knee Senpu Bu off her command normals now? Either way, why did they have to make both of her airborne moves dragon punch motions… ;_;

@Noble
Let’s pray that ll.nd is going!!

I’m not in norcal. sorry! D:

Yeah, I was thinking of something similar with getting a Gold Armor in. Carrying the opponent to the corner off a hit confirm for air combo into Hyper Viper Ha loops might also work?

As long as HSD doesn’t screw her up too much (hers is kind of bad for whatever reason), TK Pendulum from a normal might lead to some good crossup stuff. I’m curious too now. Didn’t think of that.

Pendulum is a DP in Darkstalkers. Gong is a QCB, which I’d much rather have in this game, but all QCB’s were changed to RDP’s for chaacters with command grabs because of move overlapping I think.

And that’d be sick, but LL.ND’s SoCal. It’s a six or seven hour drive up north. We’ll see him at SCRegionals, I’m sure.

Ninja’d by the man himself

An obvious BnB would be :l::m::d::m::h::f::h: j :m::m::s: :m::d::h::s: sj.:m::m::h::s: - but we’re going to have to wait into some serious Hsien-Ko players get Ultimate in their hands to see what she can really do. I’m sure you could probably alter that BnB to include a gong or two as well.

I tried this at fight club and it was tricky to get the timing on it along with being fairly close to your opponent. So far f+H j.HS variant is the most reliable.

Speaking of f+H, the change log said it got increased untechable time which explains why the corner loop is much easier to do now. Almost makes me wonder if you can combo into senpu bu midscreen…

Urggh IPW’s late

Maybe we can go for some overhead shenanigans with :f::m: jxx airdash :m::m::s: etc.?

So now that we know Wright’s Press the Witness assist is invincible in Turnabout, does that mean Hsien-Ko’s even more obsolete than before? He looks like he might be safer to set up too, with Maya and all, and if he isn’t, he’ll be good on point… Pendulum’s still good for general protection and decent lockdown, I guess.

but de gold armur can be broken gaiz

Sorry to throw out that damper. On a more positive note, midscreen crossups with the Pendulum could work. I’d like to see that. So much to do with such a little change!

I can’t get salty about anything related to Phoenix Wright, because I love the character too much. Makes my potential Phoenix/Ko/Shuma team look better.

I like how everyone on that team can protect each other. Press the Witness, Pendulum, Mystic Ray. That sounds pretty fun.

So I was watching Max’s video on Rocket Raccoon and noticed that he mentioned that the Pendulum is technically a projectile. I wonder what effect Henkyo Ki will have on it, if any?

I think it’ll just plow through it, thoughreflecting it and having it smack Raccoon in the face while he was jumping to zone would be hilarious.

A list of the new projectiles that I think we’ll be able to reflect, because I felt like doing it:
• Strider’s orbs (not Ouroborous; the big fast satellite one)
• Firebrand’s fireballs
• Most or all of Hawkeye’s arrows. I want to make life hell for that ass.
• Nemesis rockets. They’re hard to hit someone with, but they hurt. Then again, Phoenix’s salt balls explode on impact…
• Wright’s evidence projectiles in Turnabout or at least the straight Hadouken one.
• Evidence in Investigation
• Frank’s projectiles. I have a feeling a pie would just go splat, though.
• Raccoon’s cannon shots
• Strange’s Eye of Agamotto, Flames of the Faltine. Maybe Daggers of Denak.

Who knows. Just as long as they don’t make it so she reflects like less than half of the game’s projectiles again and we don’t have an cases of Samurai Edge. She’s going to need it in this game’s greater emphasis on zoning. Maybe they even made some of the ok’d stuff deflectable. If I were getting this game on release, this would be some of the first things I’d test besides playing around with BnB’s and testing assist/DHC synergy with the new characters. If I had a capture card, I’d even try to make a video.

They should really let her reflect beams. Then again I’m biased, since there’s no way for her to reflect a Dark Hole or Purification, haha.

is it KONFIRMED 6h is jcancellable?

Yep, it’s confirmed. Check the video posted on the previous page.

Man, that alone would change her tiering. It’d shut down a ton of bullshit, especially if her Gong assist did that and was actually usable. I remember reading that it was hard to program or something, though.

They better not glitch any projectiles and make it act like Wesker’s gun shot which randomly goes through the Gong. Trying to zone him out with air Gongs, still getting hit by his gun shot from mid screen, then eating a combo afterwards is the worst shit ever. I hope it got fixed.

Were there beams in Darkstalkers? What happened when those interacted? I don’t see why it would be any more difficult to program than something like Aim Master.

There are very few beams in DS, and they are all supers, so they blow right through Gong (beams as specials are a distinctly vs. Series thing, I think). Gongs are all really short-ranged too (the ES version is about the duration of :l: Gong in this game, I’d say). Darkstalkers, especially Vampire Savior, is more rushdown-based, so that leads to its characters having more mixup tools as well. So that’s the history of Lei Lei’s Gongs.

Yeah, I really hope so too. I also hope that none of Hawkeye’s arrows do that same thing, seeing as they seem to be the fastest projectiles in the new game.

I have a feeling that most of the new projectiles will work like Trish’s medium and heavy Low Voltage - ie: will negate the attack, but the graphic will continue. Which is lame.
