New trick up our sleeves: The Hsien Ko changelog

Gen in SF4 is definitely one of those characters. He’s slowly recovering from a near fatal heart attack a.k.a. nerfs in SSF4. His playstyle has changed pretty dramatically from a more rushdown focused game to a more patient poke and punish style. His buffs between versions are rather confusing and dance around the real issues. Similar to Hsien-Ko losing her speed, Gen lost his short Mantis jump and his Ex Oga escape and still suffers from low health. Just like Hsien-Ko, though, I’ll never give up on Gen as he’s too cool of a character.

Well, that settles it; between Gen and Hsien-Ko, if you’re dying or dead you ain’t shit on the tier list.

I never really got into SF4, but from Alpha, Gen is one of my favorite Street Fighters. He’s a badass old man. I like Dudders too from 3S, and from what I’ve read, all of his changes in SF4 take away tools and dance around the real issues by buffing weird parts of his gameplay that don’t really matter. Which I guess disproved my theory that Capcom hates only dead or dying badass Chinese people.

Looking at the new Max video, the cat doesn’t actually look any faster than her normal items. So I stand corrected.

So, Raccoon can lay as many Spring Traps as he has meter down? Lay 3+ traps in a row, sit back, and spam log/cannon? If you don’t have a teleport, your only option is Superjumping, I think. Maybe not meter-friendly, but he has the potential to set up crap like that. How do we deal with this menace?

The only thing I thought of was as u said before, Super Jump in (sometimes with the right assist), super armor, and outzoning him near full screen so you don’t get the Goonies Log. Since theres no blocking during Airdash, yeah that hurts Hsien-ko the most, but still hurts everyone else that uses airdashes to get in, so I have no prob throwin out walls of gong to cause someone to be impatient, or allow u to inch closer. Even though the bomb sucks, I hope that the fact that them adding more items brings down its percent chance of coming out, When I have the safety to do so, I throw items like they goin out of style. If RR burrows gotta have somethin ready for him when he comes up, might not be as bad as we think. Plus, I don’t think all his projectiles have that much durability, In one of the videos I saw his lazer gun projectile get beatin out pretty easy.

The thing im worried about most with RR’s Going Diglet teleport, is if he can call assists while hes underground :S, I hope thats not the case, if so that will be a pain.

I doubt he’ll be able to call assists underground. That would be sooooo cheesy. His traps do go away if you hit him, though. Hey, maybe if you get a bomb, you can use that silly Gong tech where you can carry the bomb over to him by sending out a :h: Gong wave.

Lol I won’t lie I’ve done that plenty of times. I hate that the bombs don’t have a hit box, but I still Luv throwing her items when I can.

Look guys, here are the list of noteworthy buffs Capcom gave Hsien-ko.
-Now dates Shuma Gorath
-Didn’t make her Roll tier.

Who needs anything else? :stuck_out_tongue:

TvC Roll wasn’t too bad,I thought. I didn’t follow TvC, but from what I’ve read, she had pretty good rushdown/mixups. LL.ND used her with Frank West. Unless yo’re referring to MvC2 Roll, of course. This game’s good about not doing that.

I might not get the guidebook, but I do anticipate (as in, nervously), what it says about Hsien-Ko. I heard it was a little more barren than the others’ entries the first time around, which is quite telling.

Though it’ll probably just be scans of the writers’ unfinished rough drafts.

Hsien-ko -
JOKE PAGE! TROLOLOLOLOL

love, Capcom

Hsien Ko page should just talk about how awesome Vampire Savior was for a few paragraphs and end with a “… sigh” before going to the next character.

Vampire Savior was awesome… sigh.

Indeed it is. It’s still there, yaknow!

Ok then!

The Lei Lei page in the UMvC3 guide should talk about how to cancel senpu bu, some mixups with Ten Rai Ha, and how to use ES gong… after a tutorial on how to run VS over GGPO.

At first as I as like :arazz:

Then I was like

Now I’m like :woot:

It should just have a bunch of links at the end of the guide to the VSav wiki and Dustloop and some YouTube channels and just say, "Look, if you’re going to use a Darkstalker, just go here:

[links]"

Then the Vergil section has five full pages of concept art, a fold-out, a Forward by Ryota Niitsuma, and a CD containing a 45 minute-long documentary on the Making Of.

Fuck, we need new info to talk about. I think we’re the only subforum to do this lol. I’m just waiting for the grumpy guy who doesn’t even play her to yell at us. DAMN IT CAPCOM

So, after LL.ND brought up Captain America on the Honzo vs KBeast stream, and after watching KBeast’s solid Cap, and after thinking about his buffs for a bit, I’m getting a little scared. He’ll just be able to blow through any attempts at keeping him out. Nova will be similar, but with different tools. We all knew he was going to be rock solid anyway, though.

So the information coming from the guys in Portugal are reporting that Hulk only has the same 1 hit of armor on s.:h:. Thank god. Just have to worry about armor on Gamma charge, but I can deal with that.

Well that’s good to hear. One less thing from the laundry list of threats for her to worry about.

From the Portugal thread.

Personally, if I didn’t have Firebrand, I would consider using this new Hsien-ko. Gong startup and duration was my primary frustration with her.

Well they checked her out and it’s not looking good. But they also don’t seem very familiar with the character so that’s at least a small bit of hope…

But really, NO JUMP CANCEL COMMAND NORMALS? WHY CAPCOM WHY?!!!

le sigh~

Well, they said nothing about Gong’s startup, only its duration. Though they probably didn’t have time to test that much with her.

No jump cancelable command normals? Seriously? Why would they take that out? I was planning on what to do with that. It would’ve given her a gameplan (unless her new one now is “Fill screen with Gons, activate armor, tag out”). And that was in a relatively recent build, too, up until LA Fight Club as far as we know. Unless they just tested non-command normals, that’s really stupid.

So… basically nothing we didn’t know, and then minus some. I’m not going to lie, that’s a little frustrating. What do we plan for now?

Karst, I’m not sure why you’d use her over Firebrand; the little guy probably has the same amount of damage on his attacks that Hsien-Ko does but with crazy mixups to work that damage, and I’m scared of his little Arremer buddy in general.
