New trick up our sleeves: The Hsien Ko changelog

I managed to send a tip now. Thanks.

I hope they make it to their respective front pages! I think people will appreciate the odd pairing of characters and stuff they’d have never thought of before.

Congrats on making front page, EvuL!

And did Wright just steal Anki Hou?

Phoenix finds “evidence” and can toss it if he likes  Doesn’t sound like the same voice as the original, why does he say “Take this” with the “Take that!” pop-up? Doesn’t actually say “Objection!” either :frowning: Otherwise I’m totally hyped for him

Wright is definitely interesting. His Lv.3 looks unfinished, though. You pointed out the “Take this!” flub. And the animation looks janky and unpolished.

Frontpage changes to UMVC3:
'Can no longer block during air-dash"

First thought when I saw this was Hsien Ko’s slowass dash…but now I can’t even remember if you could block when you dash with her. I should really get my own system and stop leeching off of my buddy’s place.

Oh, I made it to the front page? That’s pretty nice for me. And speaking of Wright, I just saw him throw a bonsai tree, the same one Hsien-Ko throws.

Nah, she couldn’t block during airdash before.

And yeah, I noticed the tree too. What if all the useless items he finds are the new things Hsien-Ko can throw now? That’d hurt.

I kinda feel like the the universal nerf to airdashes might have inadvertently made Hsien-Ko a stronger character. Now gong walls will be a lot more dangerous/annoying to deal with, and Senpu-Bu will be more invaluable as a means of moving around the screen faster while also owning a lot of space.

Also, Hsien-Ko could always block during her forward air jaunt, just not her backwards stroll.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking this too. Probably will still be bad against zoning characters though (or have a worse time getting in).

I can see the Hsien-ko/Wright pairing to be on BFF level of awesome. Gong assist and Maya Barrier to help Phoenix find evidence and Wright’s Maya Hyper to Rimoukon DHC to cover Hsien-ko as she enters. And there’s the whole item toss similarity too. I may need to start finding a third for this team. I’m spider-man main, but I don’t know if this will work.

Teleporters or characters with forward dashing moves that have projectile properties or destroy projectiles are really the only ones that I am primarily concerned with now, but we’ll see how things work out on release.

I wonder where that leaves Gold Armor Hsien-Ko assist? or would there be no effect at all?
edit: that would narrow down invincible-ish assist from Haggar or Tron down to Hsien-Ko. Maybe more people will start using her now.

Ah, yes. I tested it earlier. Not sure why I thought it didn’t. Probably too used to VSav airdash.

Nova will definitely be an ass to fight. Thinking about trying to make him work with Ko. Is his Energy Doublet (the one that seems to act like Hidden Missiles) an assist? I didn’t get to watch the stream.

(EDIT: It’s not. Oh well. Gotta find something else. The Shield?)

Also, reflecting Wright’s papers and hands will be… pleasing.

Looking at Ghost Rider (who looks pretty awesome) I can’t help wonder, “Why can’t Hsien-Ko be that good?” It seems to me that their play style is very similar to each other, just that Hsien-Ko sucks at it :frowning:

Like I said in the General thread, I think Ultimate is Capcom’s gateway to “correcting the wrongs” of the bad characters by combining their best traits and polishing them. This, unfortunately, does not involve actually looking at those bad characters and thinking, “What can we do to make these guys effective and unique?” probably because of time constraints. I honestly wouldn’t mind waiting another few months for more thorough testing. But seeing as that’s not happening, we’ll just have to follow the creed of the Servbot and “do our best!”

Hey guys have you read this: http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/oct/16/umvc3-ryota-niitsuma-interview-and-list-known-cards/

This actually gave me a little bit of hope that she will be better in the new version. Not that I mean to drop her if they don’t change her decently, but I would stop using her in serious matches like I was doing. But if Nitsuma is being sincere… that is some good news.

In the other side, I’m glad other DS characters are going to appear as cards. I even didn’t think they would remember of good ol’ Sasquatch.

Have you been following the streams and player updates? It is over, man. They couldn’t even be arsed to give her the pendulum cancel and her air dash looks almost exactly the same.

The only major thing they’ve done is that they’ve given her midscreen jump cancel combos for improved damage output from any part of the stage. Her problems at mixups, rushdown and zoning are still as glaring as ever and it’ll only get worse with the crazy powerful zoning that will arrive come November.

It’s all PR BS, unfortunately. They’ll answer yes or no to whether they changed a character, but if you ask how the changes will help that character become viable, they won’t say.

As everyone’s (least) favorite Master of Magnetism once said, “The dream is dead.”

But hey, at least we can kind of create Pendulum Cancels with the Specials Into Specials card in Heros and Heralds!

: (

So… Those command normal cancels, eh?

I’m actually thinking of tossing Doom back on my team for Task, seeing as his assists are so good AND he has potentially-godly point play now (as if it weren’t good before) that could complement the other teammates. But I’m terribly behind on Doom knowledge, and I really want to use Nemesis (swap Spencer out on an alt team?), and maybe Nova too somewhere. Maybe that Shield assist can help the girl out? It looks good for entry setups and locking people down and GTFO’ing. It looks versatile, to say the least.

Yeah, “change some things with her” means they just gave her more random shit to throw, fuck-a-doodle-doo >.>
