New trick up our sleeves: The Hsien Ko changelog

Would pay good money to see some dude in Hsien-Ko cosplay run up and randomly throw a cat at Niitsuma-san during one of these taped interviews.

DOES THIS SEEM LIKE A BUFF TO YOU? HUH???

I’d swing down from above on a rope but let go mid-way and do a dive kick.

so do we give up hope for Ko now? or do we pray that capcom is doing something massive with this supposed day 1 patch?

The Day 1 Patch is Heros and Heralds mode, and probably whatever netcode and gameplay bug fixes that crop up the first day. SO…………………

I think this is what we get.

Who knows what’ll happen in the future, though.

What irritates me most is that the Nitsuma in a relatively recent interview said: “We do not want any useless character in this game.” It is much injustice with Hsien-Ko and also with Chun-li. Then there appears someone asking, why no one plays with them. Answer: because the damn Capcom creates buggy characters like Dante, Wesker, Wolwerine, Akuma. and the rest be damned. Just for starters, neither has high value of damage, neither has OTG. And then the guys have the balls to say that it is difficult to balance these two characters. Simply Absurd.

We buckle down and use her or we pick new characters. I’m doing the latter while I improve my Lei Lei game in Vampire Savior. Also, Victor may accompany her for this winter as well.

I think it was Thor who they said it was hard to balance along with Hsien-Ko. Interestingly enough, in the interview Niitsuma says they couldn’t implement Thor doing a move where his throws his hammer… if Marvel read this, I expect there will be a heated argument between the dev team and Marvel’s representants.

But I agree with you about the buggy characters. It is kind of annoying how they make a game mostly consisted of flashed-out characters, but the majority of players only pick four or five of them because they are easier to win with. I don’t know, but I don’t think Niitsuma really pays attention to development of this game. Characters that are already good receive an absurd load of buffs while characters that need to be fixed badly just receive some mediocre improvement or have the only thing that made them good removed (which is Tron and Haggar’s case, and apparently Jill’s as well).

Also, sorry guys for my last post. It’s just I still wait they will fix the zombie girl properly.

Well, Jill still has her crazy crossups, I guess.

I think their whole approach to the new game was to rework the top tiers but keep them where they are (not so sure about Ammy, though. Maybe she’ll have to wavedash in?), bump up a couple of mid-tier characters that are pretty popular or have market value (CapAm), and not do anything about the bottom because there’s not enough time. I think even this version is rushed, though the refinements here and there to everything else will help it last longer, I think.

I’ll probably wait a month before buying Ultimate, just to give it a little rest.

You know what is funny? That special-cancel card in Heroes and Heralds mode is the only way you are going to cancel senpu bu…And that’s the last thing we will see of it.

EDIT: goddamnit,I just saw the same post right now.

Thinking about Pendulum cancels and the lack of them (again)… Would there be anything broken about her being able to cancel into j.:s: whenever she wanted? Would it be even more annoying than Wolvie kicks? Or would it just be equivalent to spamming j.:s:'s all over the place?

What if it turned out you could do it the whole time, except that it was some weird input like :s:+:atk: or :dp:+:atk: of whatever air normal you wanted to do? Oh, the tears that would flow…

You know, if they really were afraid of j.:s:'s from anywhere, they could just take my first suggestion…

The pendulum cancel would actually be one of top three largest buffs in the game if they gave it to her. She’d be like Spencer in the air except better since she’d be able to get free multiple cancels(they build momentum that mimics air dashes) in the air. She’d literally go from one of the least mobile characters in the previous game to one of the top five in UMvC3. Not many characters in UMvC3 will have safe ways to traverse the air anymore and Hsien-Ko would have moved right up with that cancel. It’d be even safer than fly cancel approaches in my opinion and she’d essentially have better(and weirder) air options than Morrigan including a new backdash(you’ve seen her early cancel pendulum swings and how they whip her backwards in the air instead of forward).

Nothing broken about it at all though. I don’t even think that Niitsuma’s team has looked at her enough to know what they passed up on.

To the request of Noble Cactus I tested a bit of Hsien-Ko changes at NYCC Idk if he’s posted about this or not but all I noticed was the new items (which the frequency of appearing was (in terms of new items) more than common but still random) her ground dash seemed a bit faster and the reflector gongs started up a bit faster. At least in my perspective, I apologize if it’s wrong i’m not a Hsien-Ko player myself.

Turns out this whole time you could always cancel pendulum…

…into a super…and before she actually lifts off the ground~

Wait… why would she need to pendulum cancel specifically into an attack? In VS she just cancels into a neutral air position where she can use any normal she wants(or if she wants to block).

I don’t see the need for a cancel into a specific move(especially that shitty S). It takes away from the tons of pressure options she has with her good normals. eww

No reason, actually. I just figure’d that’s how it’d work here for some reason (which would look really weird if you had a more horizontal trajectory, plus j.:s: just kinda sucks. I need to think more about these things sometimes lol). I’d rather they just make it like in VSav. Canceling, then j.H would make for some great reach/pressure.

Oh man, tricking people with beam hypers would be fun. Bait it, then cancel immediately like you said, do another one really quickly to go higher over the incoming beam, airdash afterwards, they whiff beam hyper, they waste meter, you take no chip. Ahh. With the limit on air actions three instead of two, it’d be even easier.

Now if you could build meter on whiff in this game AND cancel Pendulums… hoo boy. Though everyone would appreciate whiff building meter.

I’ve actually done this a couple of times. Most recently was against an XF3 Akuma, when they get really trigger happy with their beam supers. From about midscreen I threw out Senpu-Bu, then immediately cancelled it into Rimoukon. As predicted, once he saw the chain go out, he started a super on reaction. I then DHC’d into Felicia’s Please Help Me for the win.

Always have to think two steps ahead with Hsien-Ko…

Oh man, that sounds amazing. Unfortunately, I don’t think my DHC’s work like that, but I’ll have to try it out when I get the chance (read: not soon. Busy busy busy).

Oh, and apparently Rocket Raccoon has a Pendulum move. Man, I like him and all, and I’m even considering putting him and Nemmy on a team with Lei Lei if he works out well enough, but that fucker better not be able to cancel it.

Heads will fucking roll.

On related note I decided last night to shelve MvC3 until Ultimate comes out. Recently all of my online matches have been against the same shit; lots of Phoenix teams, lots of Haggar assist teams, lots of DHC trick teams. It’s like people have been making one last effort to pull out wins with the cheap shit before Ultimate. Which is fine really, and I can beat the tactics… they just aren’t fun to play against.

Hers will too. Only difference is that it’ll be attached to her neck.

Same. I’m going to take a little MvC3 break until things start settling a bit/I’ve gotten to think it over, but will still support in the meantime. I’m planning on doing what SteelyHawke is doing and working on oldschool Lei Lei. You know, the actual Lei Lei.

Haven’t gotten a chance to watch that combo video in the the vids section yet (gotta go), but LL.ND said there was some stuff he hadn’t thought of in there. Must be good.

Front page edit: Hey Seth, what’s Hsien-Ko’s “juice?”

To look cute and not do much it seems >.>
