If we weren’t insane, we wouldn’t be playing Marvel! Though I reached the breaking point a while ago. You just get jaded after a while.
And yeah, new Chris is going to be crazy, I think. He did say a few pages back that he’s going to experiment with Frank and Nemmy.
New Chris looks scary as shit. Nemesis looks like a straight up brute, and I’m intrigued as to what Frank may bring to the table.
Capcom probably killed Amateratsu with that single nerf. Hsien-Ko is also useless in this game if she stays in her current form.
LL.ND would be better off with new teammates. He has way too much potential that shouldn’t be wasted on characters with such mediocre tools.
Frank will bring heartwarming Kodak Moments with Hsien-Ko, Chris, and Amaterasu group shots.
I wonder if Nemesis and Ko will have any synergy. He’ll need something to help him set up command grabs, and Pendulum assist might work nicely.
Most likely yes, they’re still going to function the same way. Everyone but hsien-ko got nerfed in some way. Chris looks like he’s going to be faster and have better zoning but isn’t going to be doing as much damage/build meter as he did before. Grenade launcher works a lot different now and I can’t do my ToD or double flamethrower. H boulder punch cannot be done too late in a combo, so boulder punch in general is gonna be less applicable now. We all know what happened to ammy.
I’m excited to try out Frank and I feel like he’s gonna get an overhaul just by thinking how his combos worked in tvc wouldn’t translate into umvc3. Not to mention he was one of the worst characters in tvc, they would have to make some drastic changes to his other specials as well. We might even get some new moves in the form of a somersault, double lariat, or combo weapons! :eek:

Even though this isn’t the Chris Forums, how did his Grenade Launcher get changed to prevent you from doing your old tricks?
From what I played, the 2nd upward grenade shot has a bigger hit box so it’s always going to hit the opponent on the way up. All 4 hits will combo but the opponent will be in a hard knockdown state and not coming down where I can set up double flamethrower. There may might be a way around this, but it’ll involve more work with spacing issues. Tenraiha>grenade launcher>double flamethrower just doesn’t work. Opponents are able to recover once I throw cold star in there.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I can’t see how Hsien-Ko’s harder to balance then some of the new and existing characters. That’s just another way to say “we couldn’t be arsed.”
The truth is that Capcom put Hsien-Ko in the game just for putting. Another good example is the Chun-li. You can follow the streams of the championships and no one plays with neither. Apart from rare examples such as the colleague LL.ND. Tell by the way a true hero. Because you play in a league for real using a character like Hsien-Ko, who is considered by many the worst character in the game.
Here in Brazil in the city where I live, I’m the only guy who plays with her. And I will not take her away of my team.
In my opinion her needs a OTG, more speed, more damage to the hypers, and a better projectile. After all, Capcom has created her to be a zoning character.
Hsien-Ko is originally more of a space control/rushdown character that got neutered in MvC3. She doesn’t have anything she is good at in this game and she sucks at every possible playstyle you could try with her right now.
Yeah, this is pretty much it. I think we should all just move past this point already so that we can enjoy the character for what she is, a joke character that we happen to like.
I seriously doubt that I will use Frank, but I’ll be watching you to see if I should try something new. I’m most likely dropping Hsien-Ko though.
Maybe some casual use here and there, but no way I’m using her for serious matches anymore.
OTG would definitely help extend her combos, but as it gets closer and closer to NYCC there are probably going to be no more changes to her.

Yeah, there is always going to be play-for-fun and play-to-win teams and it just hard because other characters are so much better compared to her. Though, if you manage to win with characters people say are bad it’s just more Awesome.

I’ll still be repping Hsien-Ko in Ultimate, and I’m pretty sure I use her on point more than anyone in the world. She’s my gal and I’ll be rolling fools no matter how outclassed I am. Looking forward to how the jump-cancels improve her combo viability.
I’ll still use her. It just wouldn’t be me without her on the team. She was the character who got me excited for this game way back when Lupinko leaked the roster (and my friend telling me, “Did you see there’s going to be another Marvel vs. Capcom?” of course). I was so anxious for her getting in, and when those screenshogs were leaked, I was escstatic. Then I saw her reveal trailer, and my morning slowly became less happy, which, combined with a Biology final on that same morning, is not a good combination.
But whatever. Just gotta accept it or move on, which you will be doing and is probably the smart thing to do unless your tourney handle is LL.ND or Airtola.
Besides, there’s always VSav Lei Lei to fall back on. I see more of my time being spent there in the future. You know, just in case DS4 does come out in our lifetime and she doesn’t suck there.
Speaking of Ultimate. I wonder how well she’ll work with Nemesis? Maybe you can use Pendulum assist to set up command grabs? I also want to see her and Nova working together. I’m getting a little bored of Task.
One Hsien-Ko change I was thinking of would be the ability to cancel Senpu-Bu in the middle of the animation like she can in Darkstalkers. For example, you could do Senpu-Bu :h:, then press :s: midscreen and she would land quickly. This would really help her approach game to some degree, and hey, it IS in the game she’s from so why not?
No matter what I’m still going to play her, just like Noble she was the reason I got hyped on the game and was literary my entire wishlist. Besides I don’t even take Marvel seriously like I do street fighter so losing never really got to me, when it’s just all in having chaotic fun. Oh yeah I know I’ve said this before but her c.H really needs to be otg capable. That way maybe her command grab could actually have some use to it. As it stands only being able to the drop the anvil after it is just a waste of good meter.
That’s understandable as I pretty much gave up on Haggar when he was my original favorite character. I knew he was just an assist character over time, but I was thinking that he will be getting some major changes on his point and assist game, then behold, Lariat gets nerfed while he only gets a shitty buff or two which barely solves the problems he had since day 1. At that point, I just lost hope and replaced him with Spencer. I would have done the same for Hsien-Ko, but over time, unlike Haggar, I got better with her to the point where she’s my best character and I can’t simply replace her easily as him, plus she’s fun as hell to use to say the least.
I’m wondering the same for the Nemesis synergy, as well with Ghost Rider and Iron Fist, but we’ll have to wait and see when Ultimate is out. Speaking of Taskmaster, I tried to use him with Hsien-Ko and I see some great synergy between them two ironically, but I’m really horrible with him, so I never really tried out that combo too much sadly.
That’s one of the big buffs we’ve been asking for for a long time. We were trying to figure out why it isn’t in other than laziness or uncalled for fear of imbalance.
Yeah, Task’s horizontal arrows help out a lot, and he’s just an overall solid character/a pretty good anchor. I’m not terribly good with him, though, and even then I find him boring to play sometimes.
By the way, did you ever send your Spencer/Hsien-Ko reset video to Eventhubs/SRK?
