New trick up our sleeves: The Hsien Ko changelog

Gonna have to wait for the archives I guess.

Probably because Doom is a much more popular character. To be honest, it seems to me they only give decent buffs to characters that are constantly used, barring Akuma and Phoenix who had their best qualities toned down to a lame degree.

Speaking of Hsien-Ko’s fan-art, I couldn’t stop notice that in most of her fan-arts (including the Japanese ones), the artists tend to color her eyes red, while originally they are blue.

i’m not seeing blue eyes anywhere.

It’s only blue due to palette limitations, because if they picked a yellow in their assigned palette, it’d be too undesirably bright.

It should be noted they forgot the spots in the Night Warriors sprites/portraits ingame yet the promotional art always had them. Corrected in the Puzzle/Gem Fighter games since. Silly gaffe. but it’s not as bad as HER FANGS FUCKING MISSING IN MVC3.

Also that creepy “Zombie-like” sketch up there more of the cast as creepily sketched too, so it’s not exactly ‘definitive’.

Ranadiel, I still think cheritou is the better hyper to use in mid screen combos. It gets your opponent to the corner where Hsien-ko needs to be to do solid damage.

Hsien-Ko has fangs? That’s incredibly new to me.

For that mid screen combo, it could be possible that since some have said her Gong’s start up was reduced, it would make the L Gong much easier to connect and possibly mean Hsien-Ko doesn’t have to be right on their face to start the full combo which she had to on vanilla.

Also, about the Tenraiha being mashable and what not, I did a quick math and found out how much the extra spiked balls did in total. Old Tenraiha brought 8 spiked balls which each one did 17,500 in damage if damage scaling was completely scaled. That’s 140,000 in total without counting the anvil itself. Mashable Tenraiha brings 16 spiked balls in total and if we assume that each one did the same damage as the old ones, then that’s 280,000 damage. In other words, new Tenraiha does a whopping 140,000 extra damage if the damage of the spiked balls remains the same. Capcom, you better not fucking disappoint me on this one.

Son… prepare to be disappoint. Also,

Puzzle Gem Hsien Ko, the only Hsien Ko.

Yep, she has little tiny fangs. I was sad to see them go; they were the finishing touch of making her cute. I think this game wanted to make the DS characters less monster-ish. Felicia is actually pretty buff in DS. Which is kind of a shame because, you know, Darkstalkers is about the supernatural…

And damn, that’s a big buff to Tenrai Ha!

Like I said before, LL.ND had some very smart Ko play last night. It’s worth watching for the TRH mixups alone.

First match I think is 44m44s.
Second 1hr16m
Third match begins in part 2.
Fourth 1hour18 in part 2

so far pretty impressive play. I’ll post more times as I finish watching it.
EDIT:
Finished watching it. Goddamn Magneto.

lol, yea I’m expecting the damage to get toned down in a way, but considering that Haggar’s mashable hyper (Rapid Fist) did the same damage I believe for each hit on all of his versions, I’m hoping the same could happen to Hsien-Ko’s.

Should check out the anime OAV, all the girls were pretty buff in that

At least Felicia is pretty toned in MvC3. She has a dancer’s body imo. And I’m pretty sure you can still spot Hsien-Ko’s fangs in her win pose and her character select capture. She just barely cracks her mouth but you can see them.

Yeah. I based that on her sprites; in the official artwork, it is hard to tell if they are yellow or another bright color.

She is a Jiang-shi after all, which overlaps ghost, vampire and zombie in one single monster.

Thanks for watching guys. But yeah, not one of my better days. Forgetting how to fight hulk, running into hulk smash, being impatient against sentinel and combos all over the floor…I should know better. Though on the dropped combos part, this is weakness leilei has when she hits a mid-air opponent above her head; she can’t really convert into combos unless you chain into S, neutral super jump into an air exchange. This shouldn’t be a problem with ultimate coming out, you should be able to chain into jump cancel f+M and bring them down with an air chain for a proper launch combo.

It’s looking more and more apparent that her jump cancels are her best and most notable buff she’s getting. Hell, referring back to the new mix-up/reset options with f+H, that alone is gonna broaden her partner synergy. Gongs are okay as a defensive move, but they’re probably gonna still have blind spots and not reflect most projectiles the way they are now in vanilla. The new items are still the most worthless buffs ever; how the hell are you gonna follow up after a stagger from full screen? Chireitou is still gonna be a bad hyper beside the reasons we all know, but even with it’s faster start-up it has never been an applicable hyper that benefits leilei or most of the cast. I don’t know what’s up with houtengeki but honestly the range on the L version isn’t bad at all and is pretty easy to tick into with just a jab. We all know it scales badly if you add a tenraiha to it, but if chireitou is possible then that oughta make the damage more consistent and maybe lead to some combos worth doing.

Edit: Design wise on chireitou, I can accept it being what it is and the only way to improve it would have it hit both the point and assist character.

LL.ND, since you seem to be the resident Hsien-Ko player that appears at events sometimes Seth shows up at, I think I speak for all of us when I say it’s up to you to hold him at gunpoint until he gets Capcom to agree to our demands.
.
It’ll work out dude, I know a good lawyer.

The only thing I can think of is like… immediately blow a hyper and DHC into a full screen beam hyper? Or just throw another item - who knows, maybe you’ll get another stagger item or a dizzy?.. heh… oh God. :frowning:

¯_(ツ)_/¯

I mean look at it, it even has its own troll face.

Yeah, nominee for “Worst Buff of the Year” video game award.

Maybe we can get Mr. Wright to help our case?

One thing kept happening that left me curious. That combo you used on Wesker several times always left him with something like 30k life at the end. I went back to check your combos and you always ended it with a very quick DHC into Tenrai-Ha that only hit eight times. Apparently the heavy weight never hit it’s target and it could guarantee the Wesker kill.

Was it the jitters or is it the result of Chris’ hyper ending too quickly for you to DHC into full Tenrai-Ha when Wesker is in range for all nine hits?

Your fights were pretty fun to watch and it is always a shame when I don’t get to see any more action from your team. It’s a real treat compared to the the usual teams. Your Hsien-Ko mixups were pretty awesome too haha.

I intentionally whiff the weight due to the 2nd hit of chris’s sweep combo using a ground bounce, if I do it later and allow the weight to hit then the opponent will recover and block the spiked balls. After tenraiha, the combo should do 1.05-1.09 mil damage(kills cap and spencer) if I have extra meter then I can loop gong>tenraiha till i’m out of meter. Adding a 2nd tenraiha will kill thor(1.25+ mil damage), so it’s only necessary to loop it once. I can go overkill and loop it once more and dhc into grenade launcher>flame thrower for about 1.6+ mil damage. That’s a 5 bar combo which you can build starting around 3 bars and chris is a great battery character.

Edit: I can also ToD with Leilei: BnB>TRH>dhc grenade launcher, double flamethrower with ammy>sweep combo>TRH(xN)> dhc grenade launcher>flamethrower. I can start with Ammy too, but I forget the specifics.

I whole heartedly agree with this comment

Ah, those matches gave me more to practice in the lab. Good stuff ll.nd, I am inspired.
