Yeah WHP, LB2 and ST ran flawlessly. World Heroes didn’t have that annoying slowdown I sometimes get with p2p kaillera and rollbacks were almost nonexistent (at >250ms ping, impressive!).
this is a good effort and alternative to GGPO
some suggestions:
-
remembering last username and password
-
support for being in multiple rooms at once (room tabs like in mIRC). when you switch between game room tabs the player list gets updated with the players in that room.
-
selectable country flag
-
check for correct ROM when entering game room
-
drop that half-done web based integration… make it a separate program (with an updater).
making the client dependent to a limited amount of browsers is not good.
I found the install folder; what exactly is the purpose of making it so inaccessible anyway? I want to be able to change my controls offline.
Which I can’t actually do without tweaking the ini files since apparently the client won’t load offline anyway >.<
Word.
Anyone have anyidea how to get my 360 Hori Ex stick working for this?
Doesn’t work at all for me. I click on the icon to start it and it just disappears!
What icon are you clicking on? It has to be launched from the web page (www.2dfighter.com). You need either IE7 or FireFox2. If using FireFox2, you need to install the FFClickOnce plugin.
I will look into those games that are people have said aren’t working.
wow good shit on this
Is there a way to change button configs and such outside the game? That’s kind of important…
Great news… Goona try this for sure
There isn’t at the moment. I will explore this option though.
I’m currently looking into the problems reported by karnovs revenge, jojos, and 3s. I’ll update this post with my findings.
drop the half assed browser support. nobody fucking uses IE and it crashes on start up in Fire Fox even with the ffclickonce application installed. 2DF Freeplay = Fail compared to GGPO test server. I would drop support for the games on ggpo (including the test server). This will not divide the community and will enable you to actually achieve a friendly competitive relationship with ponder.
Edit: OK I needed .net 3.0 but this is still fail.
Major kudos for jumping in and providing more options for people to play on. I haven’t tried it yet but I certainly will soon.
I’d say a little friendly competition never hurt anyone, and if anything it may help.
What’s up with all the cries of fail? The algorithm is solid, he has support for the games people play. The other issues can be set aside for the moment, this is the first time its been made available to the public no?
Yeah people are going to migrate to whatever is best to play on. I say its good that both offer the same games. Its an impetus to improve.
I downloaded and Installed .net 3.5, but do you need .net 3.0?
the client is actually very good, a few things you could improve on are adding spectator mode(this is a must!), and ability to challenge people while afk.
The link to the .NET release required is in the directions. Everything is explained clearly enough.
You should probably also post about this in the computer and handheld matchmaking section.
it won’t let me log in.
weird… i have had no trouble logging in
I have just tried this, installed frameworks 3.5, and when i click on “play now” with IE, it crashes!
Anyone?
