Holy shit…don’t artists generally get BETTER, and show more detail as they gain experience? It’s like Bengus’ art was regressing, and he started out awesome, only to do barely passable art for the later games.
Most likely because he had to do alot more character art in a shorter period of time so he couldn’t spend as much time fleshing each piece out.
Yeah doing 112 pieces of artwork takes a long time (1 for supers 1 for the portraits).
So CRMK had a lot to do.
wtf, the mvc2 art was a highpoint of the series.
they might have been going for a different art style as well. the whole look of mvc2 from posters to character portraits all have a sketchy feel, he may have been instructed to fit within that style.
I don’t mind the current artist either. I remember a lot of his work from early kof games, and though I’m not the biggest fan of his style, it grows on you. Looks clean though, which is a nice break from the previously mentioned sketchy look of mvc2.
Though I am a bit confused by the fact that the in-game graphics are heavy western influence with the ink lines and all…and they went for this artist, who has a completely different style, to do the poster work. Wouldn’t commissioning someone from marvel with a similar heavy ink style have been the natural choice to keep everything coherent?
They should get Marko Djurdjevic to do EVERYTHING for this game.
Aaahhhh. Okay, that makes perfect sense.They put a big-ass workload on the dude. Someone being such a fanboy for mvc2 that they think it’s art is better than Alpha 2’s, or even MSH vs SF, makes NO sense whatsoever.
You know, since they seem to be trying to get the engine to copy Hitch’s style so much, they should just flat out get him to do the art.
Either that or have someone like Pagulayan or Leniel Yu since Filipino’s take to Marvel like flies to shit. MvC2 machines over here still get more play than even Tekken 6. Dudes pulling off Magneto and Sentinel shenanigans on Japanese sticks with broken springs.

I mean I like her and all but I’d be pissed if I saw her in this game because she’d be taking up valuable roster space and there’s so many other characters that are much more deserving. I want to see Sigma, X, some Power Stone guys and Devilotte.
Yeah well Ryu, Ken, Chun Li and Guile are boring as fuck too but they manage to worm their way into every game too now dont’ they

I agree with you about Guile and Ken but ultimately those characters are Street Fighter defined. There’s no better way to represent SF than through those key characters. A Capcom all-star fighter without Ryu and Chun-Li would be like a car with no wheels.
I hope Guile doesn’t make it in, sorry Guile lovers, but I’d rather see Charlie. I’ve always saw him as having a more agressive playstyle, plus he’s been represented in the series since X-Men VS Street Fighter, I would be surprised if he didn’t make it in. Guile’s cool and all, but I feel he was put in MvC2 for good measure and just because the sprite was already there. It would be nice to see one or the other and not have a character slot wasted with clones…
I’d be surprised if Ken wasn’t in there, he wasn’t in TvC so I’m very confident Capcom would want to put him in this…
Cammy’s a key character too. According to the fans, anyway. Capcom has a bad habit of leaving her out once in a while, then they’ll realize they fucked up then add her later lol
I don’t mind Cammy her assist is top tier in MvC2, I do mind Roll and Servbot though.
Anyway, I’d absolutely LOVE to see Archangel in this game (or any game for that matter). That be one sure fire way to get me to play this lol

If anyone remembers the Captain America and The Avengers game for Genesis, he was one of the bosses and he used his scythe like a spinning propeller. I’m thinkin that IF that’s Grim Reaper then he would string some quick hits in like Rolento from Alpha.
Also, even though I love Cammy, I never thought she fit into MVC.
I hope that they put Protoman in MVC3. I think Megaman is a given, but with Protoman, he’d be like Captain America but with a Proto-Buster. Plus he could reflect, like Rose.
