Im a fan of MK franchise and from what Iv’e seen thus far the game doesn’t look to bad. If it plays like a updated UMK3 with 2v2 and a good online mode then the game is a winner in my book.
Hell yeah, this game is gonna kick ass!
boon better not fuck this up…
I echo the want for cyrax. sektor is featured in the trailer so I assume ole cyrax is going to be in there too. this looks like it could be great.
Blind much? The backgrounds maybe but the actual models are small, lack detail and look so last gen. In fact MKvDC had better looking models. These just look rehashed and the animation itself is so stiff. Compare the models and their respective animation to SF4 and MvC3. The movements lack fluidity.
Aside from the return to 2D gameplay, I see nothing in the trailer than genuinely looks inspired and NOT Shaolin Monks rehashed.
I would’ve expected a darker, grittier and more realistic presentation, a re-imagination even of the MK series but with Boon at the helm once again, the focus will be on nothing more than gimmicks. X-ray effects, "klose kombat’ and even tag team - Throw in the most complex story mode ever in a fighting game (which I like) and all you have are a bunch of distractions, to take the attention away from the core problem of the MK series for more than a decade; a BAD just BAD fighting engine.
If past MKs are anything to go by, nothing will change in the next 9 months and this game will lose its appeal to any fighter fan within 15 minutes of gameplay.
Boon should drop the Saturday Morning cartoon bullshit and deliver a good FIGHTING game. Of all the fighting games ever, I’ve been rooting for MK the most. I love the characters, the story and the universe itself, it’s so sad that all of that falls apart because of the continued focus on superficial aspects of the game to reel in cash, rather than an actual renovation of the fighting. If Boon and co have no interest in the fighting, then turn it into an RPG and get it over with.
I hate the fact there’s no real impact on the blows: it’s like there’s no weight behind the hits and that seems odd for a game so reliant on visuals and gimmicks.
Only way to describe it is playing KOF98 and then playing KOF2003.
Well one thing I always liked about MK is that they’re willing to try new things and mix “fun” (what fighting games seem to be lacking nowadays) with some amount of “skill” in their games.
I bet half the people who shit on 3d MK games (protip it’s hard for a 2d player to respect 3d fighters, especially by NOT having experience in them…and vice versa), didn’t even play them and learn how to deal with the bs in the game. THE ONLY 3D MK fighter that matters is MKA IMO. Because in that series, it’s the one that wanted to be the most competitive…but know it wasn’t their main/only focus. The BS is manageable and does test your level of “skill” in the game. And as I said before, MKA was remade and balanced later on the WII. I mean c’mon…most fighting games have some amount of BS in them. SSF4 (which is a remake of SF4…remember) and UMK3 (since my point here is that this game is the most competitive in the series…well to most of you) are FAR from perfect. But people play these games (or did) because the majority of people (on here lol) like em and is willing to figure out (put effort into on…) how to deal with whatever BS may come their way.
So now in MK9 you finally got what you wanted. MK back on a 2d scale. There one issue is solved.
But if you’re looking for the most balanced/competitive fighting game ever made…then you should click the “X” button and never visit this thread again. Because MK simply isn’t that. MK is no holds bar fun (which is their focus), that “tries” to add skill and depth to its games. Nothing else, nothing more. MK has always been about pleasing its fans while trying to be unique…game title, after game title. And true MK fans (those who continued on with the series past UMK3) have been pleased (AT WORST). So Boon/Midway has been very successful in doing so (finacially). It’s a very good way to make money (at the time), can’t be hating on their hustle.
So lets have fun with whatever they (Boon/Netherrealm studios) throw at us and put effort into learning the game. Develop your own opinion (by trying it out/playing it yourself) and NOT judging your potential play time off someone else’s opinion (or a video of people playing the game poorly and NOT AT ITS MAX POTENTIAL). Because that’s lame. And I honestly think that’s what really hurt the 3d MK series.
This is our chance to put MK back on top. Wether it’d be on a competitive scale or a casual one…is yet undecided from all of us.
yeah cause mk is soo much “fun”, gtfo.
Okay so what isn’t fun about MK?
And which fighters do you consider fun and why?
Excuse me. Why do you troll so much don’t you realize this is the reason why you get banned alot almost at the same rate as genshiro.
cause mk is one of the worst fighters ever. mk and fun in the same sentence is something one doesnt see that often. ki and mk are way down the line in terms of good and fun fighters. at the top is kof, ff, lb, ss, sf, ds. theres a whole lot of shitty fighters that are still way better than mk, and they are still shit fighters (aof3, whp, kabuki klash to name a few.)
so far the only mk branded shit ive sene that could be remotely enjoyable is that new mk movie.
Dude to each is own I’m guessing all those kids who played MK in the past though that game was so unfun that they had to put in their quarters for to experience such boredom.
I stopped reading here.
The famed Midway Boards about SF fans in the light of MK9 (I know MUSOLINI will like this)
ED BOON DID NOT RUIN MK. MIDWAY DID. end of story. Midway was one of the scummiest companies right behind activision. They were all about the dollar. (insert every company is about making money bullshit)
They purposly made easy fast bad games knowing the ip alone would sell enough copies to make their money back and then some.
They forced him to make it 3d cause “all the other fighting games” were 3d at the time. they forced him to make crap.
Ed Boon is behind this 100% and its his company in chicago thats making this. And its 2d and looks like a fancy mk2… coincidence? i think not.
Someone should tell those MK fans to GET OVER IT!
im not arguing sf isnt fun, cause t aint. the only reason its on the list is cause where on srk, otherwise fuck sf. but not as much as mk though.
on the mk subject, mk 1 was shit. only good point was fatalities. mk2 was the best mk game imo, and it still sucked. still because of fatalities people played this shit. on the other hand compared to what was available for firghting game fans mk2 wasnt even bad for its time. by the time mk3 came out, it remained shit and there where soo many damn good fighters that the whole mk series just wasnt needed. now after all these years mk again, and its still looking like shit. just cause fighters are making a revival doesnt mean mk should make one as well. why not make another primal rage or rise of the machines or some other crappy asss series?
edit: blackshroud why would i like that post? only thing i agree with is that most people on gaming forums are retarded ass motherfuckers, that doesnt just go for mk forums.
Or ** GET OVER HERE**
You have got to be fucking joking…LOL.
This is where you leave the thread, dude.
