New MBAA PS2 Thread! Final Round 14 Around the Corner! FREE MBAACC Update This Spring

Is C-Arc the best version of Arc in MBAA?

I’m hoping to sub her, so wondering which version I should go with.

Seems like F-Arc is the best (A-Tier) and C/H-Arc are B-Tier.

Keep in mind that this is based on Japanese arcade rankings.

I’ve been playing both C and F-Ries, and I’m almost certain I’ll do better as F-Ries, but I like fooling around with C-Ries because she has Tiger Uppercut.

Sure, Tiger Uppercut won’t help me nearly as much as cheesy pilebunker combo -> free S-Groove charge will help me, but sue me. I like the IDEA of having Tiger Uppercut, because it makes me forget that I’m playing a short lady with a silly name and a sillier weapon (no offense to the cello) and helps me call on the power, height, and tier ranking of Sagat.

The distant thunder of Tiger Shots in my heart will lead me to victoryl over the skanky vampire hordes that must assail me and my cello.

So I’m playing B and C rank characters again?

Why am I not surprised…

The only advantage to playing MB on a pad is that it’s easier to air dash for whatever reason. IDK if that’s still the case in MBAA though.

I prefer playing on a pad when I play MB, mainly because I’m pretty slow on a stick (I play 3s).

Using A+B dash macro makes things much easier, especially in AA where the input window for that got increased.

Problem with the dash macro is that sometimes you get a jb when you’re trying to do a real low IAD.

I still sometimes 696 if I’m having problems, but 96 works fine most of time.

Don’t like the dash macro. Besides, it’s useless for Aoko players if they’re using A or B to hold orb(s) at any given time.

You need to keep playing, if for no other reason than I need to see you wax poetic on the game more.

Well…not really, he got tech punished and then got hit some more, wasn’t even like a huge ridiculous comeback.

It’s nice to see people are giving this game a chance.

Man, every time I see an Arc vid I kinda want to start playin her again. Kinda.

Yes, but its not taken care of, so the 1p side of the cabinet has a joystick permanently tilted to the left. The only good player as far as I know just filled up the high scores with Nanaya and never played again.

I generally play anybody I like for character unless they’re super top tier, where I tend to shy away, but thank you for reassuring me. As for being ambitious with “competing at 2011,” I played Len only in MBAC for a good amount of time, but I suppose that can only get me so far when there’s not a lot of competition around me.

I got bored with a lot of capcom games, and if this game makes EVO status, its the only appealing game that I would really apply myself to try and get into the scene.

Matt, play F. You like jump C with Akiha apparently lol.

silent shino your blog posts are really informative.

ive been on the fence about picking up melty for 2 years but im going to start now and hopefully be in shape by the time fall comes around. i have some really good players in my area and im sure i can get to a competent level at this game pretty quickly

I actually play CWarc now, so playing any Arc would confuse the shit out of me hehe. CAkiha j.C is gdlk as well when people are above her. Besides, that’s the same button I use to j.H with May, so you can obviously understand why I like it so much.

Yeah, he menstruates all over me.

Just letting people know that we got a few players in SoCal ready to go if anyone’s thinking of checking it out.

I will practice the game enough to beat the shit out of my scrubby brother (you remember him, right? :D) and my scrubby friend who plays fighting games, but I don’t think I’ll make anything big of it.

Unless Orlando suddenly takes a startling interest in MBAA, this will be nothing more than an occasional change of pace from my CvS2/SF4 routine. This game doesn’t offend me, but it doesn’t really inspire me, either. I’m sure people in regions where it took off can get hype for it, but to me it doesn’t really mean much but bad vampire jokes and botched combos. I have a lot more fun laughing at how such a decent game could come from the worst kind of visual-novel hackery than I do actually PLAYING the game. Ries and Nero are decent, but I play them less because I find them mechanically/aesthetically inspiring (like I do with much of the CvS2 cast) and more because I could not stomach the thought of playing as most of the rest of the cast. (Kouma, Roa, and Warakia are all right. MAYBE Nanaya and Mech-Hisui, BIG maybe. I’d rather strike my balls with a hammer than play as a Sion, an Arc, or an Akiha. Or Tohno, for that matter.)

MB is a fun diversion. CvS2 is a way of life. No matter how dead it may be at the national level, I will carry that torch until senility, arthritis, death, or some combination of those three finally take me down.

You think I’m waxing poetic about Melty Blood? I could go on about the Deuce until somebody shot me just to shut me up. I love that game. Real talk.

purifyweirdsoul: Perhaps we should at that.

I’ll be in Orlando in March. We should meet up for games.
