With the new PS2 version just recently hitting our homes and with the last thread being not so organized I figured it’d be a good idea to make a new thread for the PS2 version. This post will cover what you should know and where you can get information so lets get started.

Q: Where is the best place to get information on Melty Blood?
A: Well you have Melty Bread Forums - Index for your MB needs whether it’s general gameplay mechanics or character specific information.
Q: Is there some place where I can chat with other MB players?
A: Yes there is. We mostly communicate on IRC. This isn’t a IRC guide so no I won’t take you step by step on how to get it to work, but I will give you the channel and server information you will need.

Q: Is there a wiki for this game?
A: Yes, but it’s currently a WIP

Q: What version will be used for tournaments and will there be any bans?
A: As of now it will be the Original version and as far as bans goes the only character who warrants a ban is Archetype: Earth. Team characters, Nekos, Ryougi Shiki and Seifuku Akiha are all tournament legal till proven to be broken.
Q: Where is the best place to watch high level Melty Blood matches?
A: There’s the official Melty Bread youtube channel ( YouTube - MeltyBread’s Channel ) and Nico Nico Douga ( Nicovideo Redirector <<< for people who don’t have a nico account ). You can find tons of more match vids just by searching MBAA or Melty Blood Actress Again.
Q: Do we do anything cool like online radio podcast or stuff like that?
A: Yes. For anyone who’s interested, Silent Shinobi, Mizuki, and myself have been doing radio broadcast for the MB community and other games talkng about upcoming tournaments, general gameplay strats, general discusion, etc. We have been doing this for the past couple of weeks and we’re doing a show tomorrow to discuss the Battle By the Gazeebo XI tournament that’s happening right now in NYC.

Q: Well I’m a SF player, but I really want to try this game out and learn it. Is there a guide for people transferring from SF to MB?

Q: Is this game in the US?
A: No. It’s a JP import so you will need a JP PS2 or modded PS2 to play this game.
Q: Will there be tournaments for this game?
A: YES! THERE WILL BE TOURNAMENTS FOR THIS GAME! We have been running tournaments for MB at tournaments such as EVO, NEC, FR, MWC, and holding local tournaments in both EC and WC. We are still running tournaments for this game so if you’re ever interested in one or near one in your area visit the tournament and events section on Meltybread
Q: How do I unlock Seifuku Akiha, Koha & Mech, Neco & Mech, Neco Arc Chaos, and Archtype: Earth
A: There’s quite a few ways to unlock all these characters, but I’ll list the ways other people and myself have unlocked them:
S.Akiha - Beat Arcade Mode with Tohno Akiha and Akiha Vermillion
Neco Arc Chaos - Beat Arcade Mode with Hisui and White Len
Neco and Mech - Beat Arcade Mode with Miyako
Koha and Mech - Beat Arcade Mode with Neco Arc
Archtype: Earth - Beat Boss Rush Mode with Tohno Shiki and W/O losing a round.
There’s also the time unlock where if you have 24 hours of gameplay time and beat arcade mode you will unlock EVERYTHING. Characters, Boss Rush, Scenes, EVERYTHING. This is how I personally unlocked everything.
