Look, guys, the problems with questions like this right now is that while our community continues to grow larger, we just do not have enough people playing it so that we would be blessed with one or two souls that specialize playing with their own character. At best we know just more than someone playing at the start, but we’re learning at the same time. That’s not to say you or anyone else shouldn’t ask questions, it’s just that it may or may not be answered.

As for the question, I don’t know of Akiha, but I can be simple with Kohaku.

F-Kohaku is somewhat of a zoning character. She’s very simple to play execution wise, but at the same time very limited with her options for oki / rushdown. She has a command grab and counters. I personally think of her as a hit and run character, but that is just me.

H-Kohaku has F’s great normals, plus much, much better options for oki and combo potential. Unlike F, you can cancel out of her command grab, leading to some loops in the corner utilizing her 6AA string. It’s hard to say if she’s better then C, but she gets the job done just as well as C, and with less effort.

C plays like MBAC Kohaku, only she has the damage to back it up now. This moon requires the most execution to play, her loops / combos can be very taxing / daunting. Does not have command grab options like H or F do, but still very solid oki. In comparison to F, much better oki, in comparison to H, I’d like to say equal, but requires more effort / work to do so.

Try asking on Meltybread.com for the likes of Pfhor, SumAznDude, and JeffM for more Kohaku help. Not sure what to do on that Akiha help though, haha.

c akiha: focuses more on 623b for midscreen oki now and combos into command grab for guaranteed knockdown. gets air pit activation and all so she has more setups but her damage is lower from mbac.

h akiha: fairly simple and strong rushdown, guaranteed knockdowns from j2c if i remember right. benefits a lot from her high defense + short bar, meaning frequent heals and arc drives.

f akiha: lots of shit on screen makes it hard to approach her. has guaranteed pillar setups in corner and high damage off both fuzzy into pillar, or air bnb into IH into relaunch. has a difficult/nearly impossible to escape setup with arc drive which other moons don’t have.

c and h seem mostly the same to me, i personally like h more because i think a good offense + the way half moon bar works makes her more of a threat than c, which needs to rely more on setups than before. f is probably the most popular groove as she has more ability to control the screen and the stupid arc drive setup which can turn rounds around.

Seeing as you seem to have experience with all the maids and I know you play a mean Hisui…mind if I ask several questions I’ve always wanted to sate my curiosity on?

During the MBAC days I always seemed to see more Hisui than Kohaku. And the few match vids of Kohaku I saw she generally lost and (IMO) seemed somewhat like a limited character. What was up with that? Was she low tier or what? Did she have any real advantages over her sister besides stuff like the spinny plant?

What’s up with the sister pair? How good are they? Shouldn’t they potentially be better than either one alone since they have most of the options of the two placed together?

For that matter, do you have an opinion on the new pairs (Kohaku/Mech; Neco/Mech)? Are they any good?

Input your IAD after j.c and it should work.

koha was low tier in mbac, a low damage low vitality lockdown/trap character. in mbaa she is now top tier in two out of her three grooves due to a massive buff in her damage output and versatility of landing her bnbs and no nerf at all to her trap game. hisui on the other hand received very few buffs and got a few nerfs from both mbac -> mbaa and then from arcade -> ps2.

maids are generally played only in f moon where koha lead uses hisui assist for a nearly unescapable and infinite corner blockstring.

the new pairs are gimmicky and low tier.

Yeah, bell pretty much said what I wanted to. Kohaku kept her goods and they gave her even more to work with, but Hisui lost some stuff and really didn’t get much in return out of it, save having a different tech punish set up now.

The other Hisui players I knew of literally stopped playing the game, I’ve got noone to confide with at this point. Everyone wants me to run some Mr. P / Jin shit, but I’m still reluctant to do so.

Info:

  • Location test announcement for MBAA: Final Tuned
  • Will be at Club Sega Akihabara on Dec. 26/27 (Saturday/Sunday)
  • Will have all updates made to the PS2 version released this summer.

It notes the game will contain adjustments made TO the PS2 version, so I figure it will be like MBAC Ver.B arcade where there were additional changes made since the console release.

Whoa, does this mean Ryougi and S. Akiha are going to be put into the arcade versions now?
