New MBAA PS2 Thread! Final Round 14 Around the Corner! FREE MBAACC Update This Spring

I think that’s what they are saying. But we should wait for new info just to be sure.

If its different from PS2 version what are the odds it will come out on PS2 again?

If they follow the same pattern as before it’ll be PC if anything

community split?

I think the thing is “all updates” is kind of vague. It almost certainly includes added characters, but there’s a slim chance it only means bug fixes, rebalancing etc. I’m inclined to agree that the characters will be added. But since S. Akiha is my main I’m going to be pessimistic until I hear for sure.

Pessimism is awesome. If you expect the worst and it happens you aren’t disappointed, and if the best happens then you are pleasantly surprised :wgrin:

Edit: huh… the post I was replying to disappeared…

MBAA community is already split between arcade and PS2. One more fracture won’t make much difference imo. Especially since there’s no netplay on the ps2 version. Plus ps2 to pc adapters are easy to come by. So anybody can practice on either system. I doubt the differences will be so great from ps2 to pc that they split the community.

thats good

Doubtful since the community loves free poverty games. Why spend money on modding a PS2/importing a copy of the game when you can just download it for your PC!

The coder for IaMP, Blitzkampf, and the original MBAC Caster netplay tool has explicitly stated that he is not interested in making a MBAA Caster for PC. I am personally hoping that Ver.B will just be PS2 changed and characters ported to arcade with minimal tweaks made and that no PC version is released. With no guarantee on netplay, someone would have to step up to code it and thus far nobody in the community has been able to replicate work on mauve’s level. A PC version without netplay would make running the game at tourneys an extraordinary hassle and offer no increased accessibility over PS2; in other words, a waste of time.

oop aww

Awwwwww:sad:

Yeah, fuck a PC port. The PS2 port has brought more people into the community then the PC port ever did, or at the very best, got them to leave their fucking house.

Poverty never splits. We’re poverty together.

This and Persona 4 are one of the only reasons I kept my PS2 really.

I mean, I would personally like a PC port, but that’s just me being selfish because I’m on my laptop a lot more than I am on my PS2.

Getting a bit hype at the chance of a pc version but not too much with no netplay since PC users might as well just emulate it in that case.

(Really I think a Ps3 or xbox 360 version would be best but I reckon we’ve got more chance of madcatz patching the ps3 stick drivers, KOFXIII coming out and being awesome with GGPO netcode and Duke Nukem Forever coming out simultaneously in a suprise announcement tommorow then that happening.)

The ideal option would be a simultaneous PC/next gen port!

I say we just enjoy the PS2 port till we get news of a PC port. Although personally I really don’t give a damn either way…I’ll still play.

Next-gen would be hopeful, yeah. Would look forward to that. I don’t see the reason for a split between PC and PS2 though. People just want it for free along with the ability to play with other people who got it for free, maybe?

More clearly, all of these things would have to come together:

[]I’d have to actually be interested in it at the time.
[
]I’d have to actually be interested enough in it to kill at least two weeks of my life to do it. Blitz took a long time for me to get motivated to do and it dropped off the planet fairly quickly afterwards. I won’t forget that.
[*]I’d also have to think input delay wouldn’t wreck the playability; This is somewhat unlikely given the nature of the game. It made MBAC, well, largely stupider than it needed to be. And no, I’m not even thinking of doing any of the GGPO-like mods I did for IaMP, as I’m still debugging that shit and it’s a game I have much more of an investment in.

Interestingly, the original hacking for MBAC netplay was done by someone other than me. If he gets the grunt work done, I won’t have any problems maintaining/bugfixing the rest of the code/feature set. I can’t speak for him, though.

No, don’t do it, mauve. Online MBAA will suck balls.

INPUT DELAY 6

Thread title. Read it. Follow it.

This…

Some people simply can’t get out and play others. How could u ask for people NOT to ask for a PC with netplay release? That’s kinda selfish imo. :coffee:

I thought the devs intended on making a PC release for MBAA anyways, could have sworn it was mentioned before. And the ps2 version was a test or some shit…I dunno.
