very hard to do if the kunai is super meaty. you have to hit focus on your first vulnerable frame from getting off the ground. no buffer windows like with reversals
Repost from the other video thread… which one are we supposed to be using?
xSAMURAIx (Fei) vs Saisyu Kusanagi (Gouken)

Starbab is VERY patient. I like his play style.
nice looking fei you got there samurai. good mix of rushdown and patience
SO for Tall characters like seth and sagat, and also Juri, if you hit them with a close standing mp, you can get away with a heavy CW and continue a c.lp to riekkas combo afterwards. I’m very much okay with that.

mago vs mochi (sim) FT10.
O_O <== after watching an hour of Fei Vs Dalsim…
If you’re gonna practice a difficult, character specific combo like that, you might as well just learn the standing fierce link to rekkas after the HK. CW instead of c.jab -> Rekkas.
Nice to know that Dhalsim is still a gloriously fun matchup. Man, that was hard to type with a straight face.
Man Rose is a BITCH for Fei. Everything she does seems safe and her backdash is too good. Her zoning game is too good and her freakin normals are very effective for shutting Fei’s game down. It’s like she can do everything better than Fei lol…she zoning is superior, her rush down is better, safer and more damaging, and her new ultra gives her great defense. Not to mention her hitbox is the size of a pixel!!! Ugh I lost to ShinkuuR’s Rose too this past weekend at ATL Revival. Was able to get 3rd place though…gotta buy me a ps3 and start practicing with that damn controller b/c I dropped so many combos.
You just have to be very patient with rose. All her fireballs are easy to EX CW and her ground game can be annoying, but you can outpoke her. cr.MP is a godsend here, as is cr.HP. use rekkas to outspace her but don’t do anything more than one hit, otehrwise she can punish EASILY with cr.MP. Watch the spacing of slide. If it hits you late, don’t try to swing back. In close she will want to throw so be ready for that as well after a slide. All the drills are punishable so don’t let her get away with using those. Focus is useful in this matchup as well but figure out when they will want to start using drill to beat it and punish. If she has ultra, do not attack her on wakeup. Bait it, make her feel uncomfortable and then let her go for it, then BLOCK. She is not hard to defend against when she has U2 so just pay attention. My best advice is to intentionally walk into her space and force her to make you block it to get them out of the way. If she gets overzealous and thinks she is invincible, flame kick the jump ins with U2 on her, it still beats them. Also if she is walking forward, EX CW ignores the orbs.
Overall you just need to be patient. Don’t let her poke game frustrate you.
Well, crouching lp is easier to land than st.hp. isn’t it?
Well single-tapping, yes, but its a bit more complicated than that. cr.LP can’t be plinked (that I am aware of, as even cr.LK has seniority to it), however, cl.HP can. Plinking gives you two chances to land a link, by doubling your inputs in a split second. This effectively makes the cl.HP link a 2-framer just the same as the cr.LP link, though you get much more damage out of it.
Now if you are a master at double-tapping, the cr.LP link may be better as you’ll also have two chances to land that thanks to doubled-up inputs. I believe the difference between plinking and double-tapping is just a matter of when the command is input in terms of frames (but that’s not too important to note). Double-tapping is more difficult for most people and consistency is so-so.
Personally, I can hit the cr.LP link and the cl.HP with about the same accuracy now thanks to plinking practice – about 75-80% I’d say. Not perfect, but I’m getting better.
Yup, I get C.lp/C.lk 80% of the time after a chicken wing. Or, I just grab, or backdash.
