New 3rd Strike Empire Site

alright i sent u a pm that i want the tech guy to see. I really would love for Fade Out to be part of the staff and their were many people interested in helping out on the first few pages. It would be great if we could decide on who will be adding content to the pages because that is our first concern for the site.

Well right now as I said before its the content building phase. We have a dedidcated small staff currently betwene you, black and myself and my tech guy. Ive recieved offers and I know that it will be a process so lets do the best we can for now and soon enough others will join in. I think once the site is shown it will inspire people to become involved since they will see its a actual reality and beyond the concept stage. We are making good progrss so far and we dont need to rush a product, the quality will speak for itself.

So with that said this is another call, anyone interested in helping the site plz let your voice be heard and tell us where you can help. We are accepting community members as staff so plz inform us if you are interested and want to help with content?

Yall definitely brainstormed way over my head while I was studying. I’m going to need some to read all of this let alone understand it. I’m not a web designer, but I do love and understand utility. Mike Z’s www.skullgirls.com is very easy to use, and I love Yahoo.com’s homepage: the side bar only opens on click and the scroll page is for news. Everything else is customized to what you want. Scratch the customization b/c it isn’t needed. Content first, form second, completeness third, and fanciness later is my theory. But I’m happy some of yall will get some artwork into the form =D

I’m going to find some streams.

I understand the want for a forum, but don’t we have that with SRK? What I thought this new site was going to do was create a giant & well-organized resource for 3S players which would reduce the need for posting new crappy thread titles: “What are Ken’s SA3 setups?” “What does Nuki look like?” “Where do I find the danisen rankings?”

The forum is already here. We use it, and it works. The organization is lost and now gone. People will always bring questions and post overrepeated threads titled like the aforementioned at SRK. The best way to battle that is if the majority of 3S players say “Go to www.3sempire.com.” This Mega site shouldn’t repeat what SRK does well: enable discussion. It should do what SRK and no other site does well: consolidate and organize the 3S community’s wealth of information.

I think a lot of start up time could be saved if each character’s page included a link to that character’s SRK thread INITIALLY. That little fix will buy us time. I think that would be better than recreating an entirely new forum when that time could be used to create what the community doesn’t have: complete character frame data, organized video combo tutorials, organized beginner tutorial playlists, an index of all of the video accounts (YouTube, Nico Nico, Youku, etc) with 3S footage, a schedule of upcoming streams, an index of archived streams, 3S gods index, etc.

Finding simple setups and data for each character by itself is a daunting task. Luckily, some people have attempted that in the past. At least we can recycle that effort and place where people can find and organize it so people can use it.

I agree with the use and eventual installation of the website’s new forum, but I’m afraid people will be caught up moderating the forum during the website’s start up rather than using the start up time to collect all of the content. After the content is here, then practically all of us can moderate the forum.

I generally agree with this part (but if we can make the site look catchy and function, then all the better ;)).

I’ve been looking at words too much today, I’m gonna go keep getting adjusted to the 3rd Strike mechanics…

Very strong point munchkin, and this has worried me as well. I like your idea’s on this, what does everyone else think in regards to the forum matter?

i agree with munchkin. the site would be great just as an information site like eventhubs. we can use info from here Anniversary Collection Strategy Guide Download: IT HAS EVERYONE'S 3S FRAME DATA! (although people say the frame data is wrong). i downloaded this and can state it has a wealth of information. every character is complete.

i will incoporate a forum system into the site in order to achieve the player pages, challenges, and tournaments. but there will be no forum on the site. the only thing it will serve is as a system to get custom features to work. there will be no way to access the forums. Do you guys think we should have comments on the character pages? This could serve as discussion and many websites already do this.

Everything will be run through the forums,** just integrated into the main site**. All of these features will be available from the get go.

Well new comers to the site might now now what Fight Your Rival means. So I think once you click community, it will take you to the “community” page and it will be split into two sections. The top part will be “Fight Your Rival” and will have a brief description about what it is, and how it works. Then the second section (underneath it), will be called “Players” and this will have a list of all the registered players of 3SEmpire, where you can challenge anyone you like. You can set it so it will only display your friends, newcomers, tournament players, and whatever else we come up with.

For the community button (in the main menu), we will have an icon of 2 fighters with one of them parrying the other or something like that.

Also would anybody like to whip up a quick logo for the website. I will be making the coming soon page today (nothing fancy, just a quick thing) but would like the logo be part of it. Just make sure its .png and has a transparent background.

one of the two most renowned, vocal anti 3s advocates in the u.s. fgc and his arguments are absolutely terrible and often resorts to bashing and blind hate. i feel bad for whoever would need him as their lawyer (hopefully he knows that stuff better). while on the subject, the other big time hater’s arguments are semi-decent on paper, but don’t hold up in reality when you reach a certain amount of experience with the game. He’s good at convincing other haters, who know just as little, about what they already know. Most of his arguments just avoid others’ points by criticizing their ability to write. 3s isn’t for everyone, and just because you don’t like it, doesn’t always mean you don’t understand the game, but the game has a reputation as a deep classic for valid reasons. I realize it’s difficult to comment about a game you understand so little about, but if you’re as smart as you think you are, then just refrain from making hate-filled ignorant statements. If viscant’s a good argumentative writer, then i deserve the nobel prize

I like the comment box. Kind of have it like blog format I guess???

Would a comments box mean blackhombre will need to build a registration system so people could use their own names and such? Could that be implemented by release date? Or is this something that could be done later?

Can we simply use the “Press Start” screen as a place holder for now?

Also, if there was a way for you to enable a sound-activation for “pressing start” that would be awesome. I would be so psyched if the opening for the website had the announcer’s voice for the first 5 seconds of the character select screen

Oh wow. Something like AIM embedded into the website, but on a minimizable strip like that would be glorious!

Yeah OP had the same idea. I would like to get a rip of the voice file that says “Welcome to the world of street fighter 3, Prepare to Fight” so the background music isn’t audible. Just the vocal. I’ll try to rip it later on but I will be working on the actual website first once OP’s tech guy PM’s me back.

I can add this easily. Great ideas.

awww snappp. thats sick. i just wish it was already rendered for me but whatever, i can cut out the background and make it transparent. great find brah!

lmfao i can just right click and save as. Just like u did brah :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Alright guys I gave black what he needs to start, now we play the waiting game:)

speaking of dividing, my friend has been suggesting for a while that SRK create separate regional threads for tournaments. This may be useful especially if you plan to incorporate more games than 3s on the site

Been working for the past 4 hours on this site, and we have a change of plans. People in here have stated that we need to have the bare bones of the website completed first. And the bare bones of the website is information. So tomorrow (later today, its 5:34am right now), I will make the website HTML based and add a wiki to the site. Everybody can contribute to the wiki and we will need lots of people to as well. I want to have the how to section of the website completed by game release date! We can use many different websites for information and add on to it such as eventhubs, the srk wiki, and most importantly this Anniversary Collection Strategy Guide Download: IT HAS EVERYONE'S 3S FRAME DATA!. I highly recommend you guys download this, it is a HUGE shortcut for us and the only thing we will have to do is replace the frame data in it (since some of it is wrong) and add more information.

There are going 3 revisions of this website. We can just go in abc format so revision 1 = Alpha, revision 2 = Beta, Revision 3 = Complete. We are in the ALPHA stage so we are at the beginning. The alpha revision will have a sleek HTML based website which is a 3 column layout with only 3 columns on the site! Each column will be a long vertical picture that serves as the menu for the site and takes you to the major parts of the site. They will be ABOUT / HOW TO / TOURNAMENTS.

About - this will serve to tell what the site is about, how it got started, why it got started, what you can find on it, what plans are for the website, etc.

How To - will take u to a wiki and will have beginner guides, character guides, techniques, etc. the whole 9 yards.

Tournaments - testing phase for our automated updating tournament brackets and leaderboards.

We need members to start working on the How To section ASAP. Any particular way the How To section should be structured, please state in the thread. This is our main focus. OP’s tech guy and I will be creating the tournament section. Its up to you guys to fill in the How To section.

3rd Strike Empire ALPHA is coming to a browser near you. Will you be there?
