how about thethirdstrike.com ?
Agreed. IPW’s breakdowns are great. Something like that for 3rd Strike would be great!
Yes I really like how they setup their char info as well. I was planning on setting it up like that already and at this time don’t see any reason for the site having a wiki. (I will still make one tho once the site is up just in case you guys want to incorporate things into it).
I agree but you can see the generic feel of the iplaywinner website. Everything is organized but its not very aesthetic. They don’t use their sidebar effectively either. You can see that with every page, the page layout is the same. 2 Column layout with content on left side, and ads on right. They should switch layouts and have pages that are 3 column, 2 column, full width, switch orientations of columns, columns that are relative to the sites page.
Look at the Maplestory website. Great design and you can see the effective user of the sidebar within every page you click.
The website will be a mixture of the WoW, Shoryuken, and Gamespot/IGN websites. It will incoporate features from all of the sites and will blend in a way that is easy to navigate, ability to hold vast amount of content effectively, and aesthetics. My top priority is making the site look good, this is a big project and it deserves a big design. I have talked to OP and his tech guy about the designs and we are discussing the designs I have given. We have unanimously agreed on what we want and are now discussing the paths we will take to have full functionality of the site to implement great features such as forums, wiki, player pages, streams, tournaments, guides.
Get hyped brahs. This is gonna be sick.
“I WANT THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS”
I can’t wait till I can check out your guys’ treefort.
Yes the domain is bought and so now its just a matter of time of building the site and content. I will be in heavy discussion with my tech guy and black in deciding the artistic direction of the site.
its more than an artistic direction. im the one creating the site. the tech guy is going to help me with what method is best to go but everything is being setup by me. im simply picking out the easiest and best way to go about it.
I want it to be like a fusion of SRK and WOW personally.
Black: Indeed man I trust your imput and direction which is why I have no issue letting you set things up. The tech guy will help you with what you need and me and you will finalize.
It will be, thats what I want. What I mean by Gamespot/IGN is that it will incorporate features from those sites but will implemented (smartly) into the website. You can see that http://www.neoempire.com/ went with an almost pure Gamespot/IGN design approach and can see that its very cluttered. However, it has many great features on the site that will be implemented into this site. Their use of the sidebar is cluttered but has many great links of the site. For example on NeoEmpire, you can see they have affiliates on the sidebar. I would move that over to the very bottom of the webpage and structure them so that they look nice or include them as hyperlinks with a brief description of each site. You guys will be pleased with what I want to do.
I’ve done my homework and everything is mostly planned, still just waiting on OP’s tech guy to get back to me.
Yes fade informed me of that and gave a good suggestion. How about if we have a logo that was red and white with a image of ryu parrying ken?
great idea, we can easily incoporate that into the website (ive done website like that in the past where the menu is some sort of graphic that highlights when hovered over and changes color when on that page). It can be somewhat similar to Eventhubs but will lean more towards the WoW website in a sense of aesthetics. Also we won’t have graphic menu’s until the pages and what the website will have is finalized.
Lets brainstorm for what the website should have. What should the pages be? What features should be on the site? Whats something you’d like to see on the website?
There will be two menus (one directly on the top which serves solely to take you to Home, Wiki, Player Page, Forums (whatever we decide will be the main** navigator** of the different aspects of the site). Then there will be the traditional menu which everyone is used to (look at the WoW website), which can have links to Articles (will be featured on main page), Guides, Tournaments, Media (main page of youtube search videos which will be linked as well from content in the sidebar), Contact & Affiliates.
I want to incorporate the player page with the forums so whenever someone registers for the site, it automatically registers with the forum as well. The player page will be part of the forums but will be incorporated into the site as well as a way of linking people to uploaded videos, etc
i like 100% of this. sick ideas[S], but have a question about the community. how should we split the forums/player page. I’m thinking making the community page a drop down from the main menu which has 2 sections. Forums. Player Page. Or by just clicking community, it will take you to the forums and have player page be easily accessible?[/S]
I will make the community button on the menu take you to the forum. And have a top bar similar to the starcraft website which will serve as “Log In or Create An Account”, Player Page (my account), Challenges (this will notify if you have challenges waiting for you). Sounds good?[S]

A chat program as well, this was done in a site called MLTSF which had a chat program in the actual site. I dont want the display of the content to be very neat and clean, I dont want it to seem full or like we have to much on the screen.
As for what the content will include, well this is basically what I want:
Character section will look like the actual character select screen from the game but in HD of course. I want strats, frame data, combos, stamina, stats on the damage output and stun output and also a list of famous players who main that character.
I want a tier list included in the tournament section and a overview of how characters performance in tournaments, like by the numbers. We can also include player rankings and even rankings within the online community. I was thinking we could have a ranking system on the site and this is what I was thinking.
When we do our tournaments the top 8 will recieve points and these points would go towards the sites leaderboard where we will list the top 100 players in the online community who join these tournaments. its not a big deal but just a little incentive to stay active. Also down the line when we host physical tournaments these points could go towards these tournaments.
I would also like some pod cast and interviews, content exclusive for the site which would go under the media section.
I have no objection, as long as its easy and not confusing for people thats the main goal.
Fade out: Dam man we both had the same idea lol, lets combine both and I love the fight your rival idea.
Yup the typical character run down just with complete character pages (many sites lack this). I really like the tournament leaderboard. It will be a huge motivating factor in the site.
Once I have the site up, I want to know all the volunteers who will be working on the site. I want everyone to be working on the site at the same time so while somebody is editing the character pages, someone can be editnig the tournament page, etc. This will speed up the process a lot.
haha that was actually one of our references. we will make a character select screen but will have to wait until the game is released so we can make a 3SO one. Until then it will be pictures similar to IPlayWinner.
Love the rest. This sounds awesome, too. What I’d like to see is a little switch. If you turn the switch on, people can challenge you while you’re logged in, but you can turn it off if you don’t want/can’t fight someone. And, it’d be turned off if you’re not on the site. It may be somewhat difficult to do (I don’t know, I don’t make websites), but combine that with FADE’s stuff, and a list of people currently online, and I think it’d be a winner.
Exactly, very easy and stylish ha.
I have a current staff and Ill let them know when your done, anyone else who offered is welcomed to help as well. We need people for the sections we have stated, right now it woul be good to have someone who can manage the front page and news feed section and character sections. Forum mods are needed now?
good idea, we will use a modified version of the alert system so you have the ability to edit your settings for challenges.
At this moment, we don’t need forum mods yet. We don’t have a forum yet. Our main concern first is setting up the initial website and getting everything working (including forums/custom features). Then once the site is finished, well start working and using the forums. The forums will just say “coming soon” once clicked on.
I know this was said before, but who is our current staff right now? What I mean for staff is dedicated site editors/graphic designers (myself and aku, anybody else whos interested). Site editors will be the ones who fill in the content of the pages, articles, etc. They’re the ones essentially creating the website. I’ll just be the one to set everything up and format things. While graphic designers will be the ones that come up with flashy logo’s, backgrounds, theme for website, side bar clickables (ex: Click here to sumbit your 3SO video to 3S Empire!), etc.
I asked and I had offers, unfortunately you can only count on yourself being pesent and just hope people will eventually show. I made a call a few pages back to fill in some positions and I had some pms so now its just about getting these people to come here and contribute content. I will what I can for the oro/ryu sections and make the 1st entry into the news feed. Outside that its gonna be a group effort, you did your part with the site creation so now its our turn witht he content.
