New 3rd Strike Empire Site

I had work all day today and will be at work all day tomorrow but I as soon as I get a few minutes to myself I’ll work on some logos and then as soon as I get home I’ll open up the photoshop/illustrator and see if I can make something you’ll like.

CRAZY to see the progress made while I was sleeping. Excited to see what more happens while I’m at work.

Dander: when you make the logo, I’d like it to resemble the actual 3s logo but with different font and colors. Try to stay within that theme and come up with variations of the 3s logo. It has to be similar enough that you will recognize it as 3s but unique as well.
Hey guys,

These are the various websites I’ve bookmarked over the years. I don’t know if any of the people who made them still manage them. Their websites do have great info. I’m hoping that they will allow us to recycle their info. We should DEFINITELY give them honorable mentions and such. I’m a nerd. I’m the guy who spent more time on my paper’s bibliography and citations than on writing the paper.

1 -> is the website we all know and love

2 -> is SRK’s old wiki, but it is VERY incomplete.

3 -> is the aforementioned

4 -> is another basic move list stuff. Takes too long to load.

A lot of the info here overlaps heavily. We already know a lot of this stuff. I’m thinking we’re going to need to go through each character’s forum to collect other info. (2) is cool b/c it took relevant posts from the forums: Yun tutorial quoted Pyrolee.

WHAT I DON’T LIKE ABOUT ALL OF THESE PAGES:

Mainly, all of the content is accessed by CONTINUOUSLY scrolling down. We need a nifty way for people to go through literally pages and pages of info without having to kill their mouse wheel. It sounds like a trivial issue, but if you scroll down to read info, you have to scroll back up to see the main bar again. If any scrolling happens, it should be framed if you know what I mean.

I was thinking expand/contract options. Very much like many video game reviewers “spoiler” warning. If you want to read the spoiler, you have to click it. Instead of scrolling through stuff like wiki, could the site eventually be navigated by more “clicks?” Possible?

I understand wiki-style is the startup. I’m just throwing out ideas for the future/the BETA phase.
srk sucks for 3s so i guess you can say the

empire strikes back

the 3sempire wiki is up. you can go there and start editing the main page and create the other pages at www.3sempire.com/wiki.

At the moment, the wiki is setup like the real www.wikipedia.com but I can change that later and will make everything nice before we leave the alpha stage. Editing the wiki requires some wiki knowledge btw. I’m going to be editing the website right now (which i havent uploaded yet), hope u guys can start on the how to section (the wiki) while im working. thanks

I like all of that. I think for each character, having a breakdown of normals, specials, super arts, what the taunt does, and frame data is a must. Then go into beginner, intermediate, and advanced strategies.

I can’t help out with detailed stuff, but I can give perspective of what a 3rd Strike newbie would want/need. And a well-organized layout of character moves and strategies is a HUGE must. Even just a simple overview of the character (See option-select.com’s stuff) goes a long way. I’d LOVE to see a 3rd Strike version of Option-Select’s overviews.

One thing that’d also be nice, but is far from a priority is a video of a “textbook” style of a character. Maybe there’s a video of a perfectly-played defensive Hugo that could be a good model for other defensive players who want to play Hugo. Of course, there could be numerous examples for every character, I’m sure.

The way I see things is that if it seems like you’re holding the players’ hands too much, you’re probably on the right track.

Yeah, there is a point where people can get overwhelmed, and that’s where smart organization comes in handy. If there’s an overview, move list, then beginner, intermediate, and advanced sections for each character, but are kept separate from each other, it would work out. That way, you get the information there for those who need it, but don’t overload those who aren’t ready. I look at some of the SRK forums for SF4 characters, and some of those have a ton of great information, but its so cluttered and thrown right at you, it can be intimidating (I think Rufus’ was like that last i checked), but then there’s other forums with a ton of information, and its so well organized that it feels like it relieves some of the work to learn a character. The El Fuerte and Dhalsim threads come to mind. El Fuerte forum has a thread that goes over damn near everything, including matchup strategies. While the Dhalsim forums have only three stickies, one of them being a table of contents which points you to anywhere you need to be.

Obviously, there’s a difference between information on forums, on wikis, and on webpages, but the idea is the same: There’s no such thing as too much information as long as its presented well (and not redundant).

Im going to attempt to reach out to different 3s communites world wide and get them organize content in their language on the site as well as host and stream online tournaments from their region. I want this to be a global display and not just isolated to NA only. Ill also write up ryu/oro and a basic overview of SF3 mechanics on the wiki right now. Also I made facebook group but im thinking I should have made a fan page instead, also ill make a youtube account soon.

Guys please edit the wiki. Create the how to pages, character pages, etc. I am working on the website right now. Thank you.
http://www.3sempire.com/wiki/

Created the pages for every character - this will be a fucking lot of work guys.

I would suggest XBL/PSN cards too. I like the name 3SEmprie, but I can’t help but like RedParry more. This could work out well. have a forum with character specific sub-forums. The main page has a link to a 24/7 stream with a shoutbox, the wiki, something fun would be a 'did you know?; box that displays random 3S trivia like how Necro can juggle urien in the corner or Alex’s bHP beats Ken’s SA3 on wakeup, etc.

thanks man, not really. we have access to all the other info available on the web to add on to it as well. the only thing we need to do is get it in writing (on the wiki). I would like the wiki to be setup like this.

www.3sempire.com/wiki = Main Page of Wiki - setup like the main page of shoryuken’s 3rd strike almost. main page will be the guide to navigating throughout the whole wiki.

Use the resources that were listed above and start getting the content on the wiki. It shouldnt take too long since we can copy paste most of the stuff and then write the rest ourselves. Pictures are good, use pictures like the srk wiki uses to post HP, MP, etc. Its much easier/aesthetic to have a picture of a lp instead of writing “lp”.

I’m almost done with the initial setup of the website. The only thing left is to incoporate the tournaments and create the about section of the site. I’m designing the whole thing by hand so its taking me awhile.

So, about the video sections… I was thinking… Maybe we should cooperate a little bit with frame-advantage.com … Just create a redirect page to the 3s section of fadc or some other shit. Of course we would have to work a little bit on fadc and add all the vids we can

I would like if the site used sound rips from the actual game. I really dig the character select style layout of testyourmight.com forums and the MvC3 strats here at SRK. Let’s say you click the “Character Strategies” link for example, and got the char select screen with the faces changing as you highlight a different fighter, same as in the arcade, would be pretty slick I think. I would like if you clicked the fighters picture and got the same sound that you do in the arcade. I think when you see the home screen, you should have to click enter, and you get the “coin in” or “prepare for a new challenger” sound clip when you do so.

Not sure how much work this would be but its just a suggestion.

Here are a few sound clips guys, you’ll get the idea: http://www.mediafire.com/?rz3v8ocncp9bmdr

No, keep it fairly simple. If someone’s browsing on their phone it can be a pain in the ass to load.

That layout could work but simplify it so it doesn’t look like a shrine. That could cause issues. Nothing using flash (again out of simplicity and loading pages), just a few pics, maybe the players could add links to their youtube replays off of XBL/PSN?

How about an online tournament section? Ranking battles/danisen schedule and ranking section? Stuff like that. There would just have to be a schedule which I’m sure people can work out.

Missed that, my mistake.
