still working on the site and i updated the initial coming soon which contains a link to the wiki so people can contribute to it. i want to release the site (like i said before) in 3 stages, alpha, beta, and complete. alpha stage site will have a testing tournament/leaderboard which will be fully automated. the technical staff is currently workign on this.
the website will be html with flash elements incorporated into it. wont give out too much details about the site but u guys will be pleased. i wont be able to work on it much tomorow because of work but i will get as much as i can done on it tonight and when i come back tomorow.
Just to let you guys know, Im attempting to recruit at least 1 more web designer to help black with the few details he cant get to right away. I will try to get you as much help as possible, so far my staff has good people in it but we could always use more help.
It does it on it’s own when you use the wiki designated tags. I found the source wiki codes on SRK. I can quite literally go through each and every page to make 3Sempire.wiki look exactly like srk.wiki except for the pictures b/c we don’t have them. I’m hesitant to do that b/c I want to NOT have to scroll down everything. I’m trying to find a collapsible/expandable wiki tag, but I doubt it will have one. I tried to start the editing starting with <html> and ending with </html>, but that only negated the wiki tags. Hmmmmm . . . . I don’t believe Dreamweaver has a wiki-editing mode.
Anyway, do you want to completely copy & paste srk.wiki for now?
I would say content or the illusion of content is important now even if its just a placeholder. The information is still good regadless and will be changed down the line so go for it, try to keep it as simple as you can if the material you cut from seems a bit to"steep"in its terms try to simplify it a bit.
Whew . . . OK well, the Akuma page is HUGE, and it’s only 80%. It’s too much for only one page. I’m going to cut and paste it now, and throughout the night, I’m going to create different pages for those subsections. This is way too unorganized.
Thats the 1 fear I have with this new site, I was the information as condensed and specific as possible and I dont want people becoming frustrated having to sort through all the material. You know to avoid the situation we have on these boards with persistent questions over the same topics, we should have a "ask a pro"tab on the character sections and game orientated sections and maybe use the built in AIM system to do a real time Q&A. I suppose the issue would be making sure the mod of that section is online and to somehow moderate it so only a certain amount of people can come into the chat at once.
Edit: Save the images, just worry about the text stuff 1st. All the graphics can come later on.
Black is building an html site, right? Doesn’t that mean all of this stuff is getting washed? or no, I’m guessing he’s going to copy paste the html codes of this, isn’t he?
Im pretty sure he is, this material could still be used on the alpha site. Even if it isnt all the best info, it at least fills content which could always be modified later on. He is working on building the site so everyone else now has to work on the content building phase, which is unfortunately a very large task for us.
I was thinking of splitting up each characters major sections by adding pages, but I guess we’ll have to keep the “scrolling nightmare” format. I also modded the 3S template. That can be seen at the bottom of every characters section. I’m about to include an HTML table to make it prettier.
we can create a group on the facebook page and have a giant group IM chat. if your logged in to facebook, you can chat with anyone else who is online. this is a feature already built into facebook and i can embed that into the site. I updated the tech staff about my plans for the finalized website and how i think we should get it running. ive done something similar in the past so it shouldnt be to difficult. but if we end up using my idea, we can easily have html/php webpages WITH all the features that we have been talking about:
[]Automated leaderboards
[]tournaments
[]challenge system
[]user accounts / player cards
[]articles including the ability for any of the staff to add articles
[]custom character selection screen for character guides
[]how to guides that are simplified and utilize space well (feel like ur not reading much becuz ur not scrolling down for miles)
[]ability to update guides even through html/php format

plus everything else we mentioned.
Very excited for this, but i didnt realize how much work the site was at first. im still working on it and feel like the Alpha stage should be done soon. To be honest, once the how to information is complete, we can move to the beta stage becuz we should have everything setup for it by then.
This. You guys seem like cool dudes, but my Facebook account is separate from my internet doings. Really, I only use facebook to keep in touch with people I know personally.
Its like Relationship George and Independent George </Seinfeld>
lol thats cool man, the community is only for 3s guys like us so we will try to keep things seperated in that regard. I want this 3s community to not seem so cold and "elite"and for everyone to have a good general vibe at least in regards to the site and staff. As owner and admin of the site I dont want to seem above the rest of the commuity and i want to be apart of the community in active way, so hopefully in time you and everyone else is cool with joining the group.
i agree with u guys on the facebook thing, plus nobody would no who each other were using facebook chat. ill integrate some sort of chat into the website. i also made a backup of the site and will make daily backups just in case something goes wrong during the process. once the site is up ill make a habit of making either daily or weekly backups.
regarding the site, i kinda shifted gears. the version im working on isnt the simple alpha version i envisioned and began working on. what u see in the alpha version i release will essentially be what the complete website will be running off of except the alpha version will not have the features of the complete version. im working on it right now (pretty much throwing away the old alpha version) becuz this is a lot better and its what we should be doing in the first place. building on to the website not making a making a new one for each revision (alpha beta complete) that is released.
till next time.
i agree, but i do believe the people in this thread and staff are entitled guaranteed spots in our “first” tournament
Edit: just deleted ~500mb of work i did on the old alpha site. this means less work for me and i get to bring u guys a better version of the site earlier and get to work on the better version longer. Heres to the future of 3rd Strike Empire.
