Just restarted my machine. No patch…I got that other “patch” on friday when I got the game.
5-6am est.
This is unplayable man. I had nearly flawless play in SF4 and pretty good play in MvC3. This is utter dogshit.
I can’t totally judge the netcode just yet because I’m playing with someone local, but from what I can see the netcode is perfectly playable without much input delay at all. The biggest issue is the audio glitch so far for me.
UNPLAYABLE for anyone outside of 100 miles.
Here’s hoping the netcode runs just as flawlessly as sf4’s in Japan :P.
netcode is pretty trash. i stay in singapore and have never had problems with connections online with the other fighting games. but this one is pretty bad. Sound issues, frame skipping and all the other shit people are complaining about. well at least we’ll probably have a decent offline scene for it here.
Personally playing in L.A. with region set to “same” on four bar connections it has been ok.
The problem is that between the audio being all fucked up and gems activating right and left I’m having a hard time telling when moves are hitting/ when I am being hit.
I’ve played a solid amount of games now with random people in ranked mode. I will say that the netcode overall is pretty solid in terms of input delay.
In terms of slowdown and occasional frame skip it is hit or miss. When it works well it’s great, but not without issue due to the ever persistent audio glitch.
I’m sure the audio bug will be patched so I’m not really worried about that, but I can see why people think the online is bad. Honestly there isn’t much input delay if any at all, but the other three issues (slowdown, occasional frame skip, and audio bug) all add huge perception of lag.
Another issue is that the game only has 3 bars… so it’s hard to tell who’s really a “3 bar” connection since the gap is probably huge between 3 and 2.
i’m willing to bet real money that all the people complaining have jitter or packet loss up the ass.
in SF4 it would delay the inputs to synchronize it and make it “smooth” for these bad connections, but here you really need a stable connection otherwise you get weird shit to happen.
the problem is each aproach has disadvantages, but i’d rather have people with unstable connections being punished than plaguing everyone with input delay.
Only played a few games, the audio bug really bothers me and it doesn’t help when trying to register whether there was a lag spike or not. pretty much not playing this game online till that gets fixed.
I just played someone from across the coast (california) and the game was totally playable with minimal if any input delay. It did have some slowdown every once in a while, but I know for a fact if that were mvc3 or sf4 it would have massive delay and be unplayable.
Also to everyone on XBL, install this game please. The loading time can be grim otherwise.
low input delay feels good. i can see why the weird frameskip/stutter effect is such a problem tho. not really a rollback, not really a full slowdown, neat concept tho. not having a numerical ping, lobby size search options, or honest connection bar system is such a huge pain in the ass tho! knock this shit off devs!
