Gameplay-wise I’m having absolutely no problems with the netcode. I stick to fighting full bar connections and it feels great, like playing offline even. The sound glitch is unacceptable though, and I’m offended that Capcom didn’t say anything about it until AFTER the game launched. There’s no way they didn’t know about it and as far as I can tell they made no effort to warn us. I’m glad I bought the game, and I would’ve bought it anyway, but that’s cold as hell.
Seriously dude, Stop playing fighting games; you’d rather not be able to link as opposed to sound glitching?
Typical gamefaqs post. Its been awhile since I saw one.
Seen the inner workings of many fighting games from the 1994 to 2000 era,

The thing is, a laggy netcode can’t really be fixed. A sound bug probably can be fixed. I’d much rather have this netcode regardless of sound.
My complaint is not being able to filter by connection quality.
My online games have been terrible. Super laggy and the sound kills me. I cant learn the game and new characters block strings when i cant even tell if a move was hit or blocked until its way too late. I find this extremely unacceptable. I was looking forward to this game…so much for that.
I’m an online player only, so I got used to the sf4 delay. Plenty of people can do links just fine online in that game. I think most people didn’t like it because they tried to play both on and off. They’re really 2 separate experiences.
Nah man, on EventHubs someone from Capcom said that the sound issues are caused by the rollback netcode, which of course makes online inputs really good, but also cause sounds issues. And right now Capcom is having trouble getting rid of the sound issues without causing a lot of lag.
capcops paid me to write this message
may as well as provide some proof (ie, traceroutes, or you playing on a stream) against others online. it’s funny cause on my fiber optic, aside from the rollbacks it plays quite fine. keeps input delay to a minimum at least in 0-1 bar and i can still land my combos. there are several online vids of me landing 1f links even on 0-1 bar lol
pretty sad that people don’t know what’s good for their online exp. it’s pretty bad when all the devs have to write articles explaining what rollback is and why it’s better lol. you have ppl in here saying theyre used to input delay and actually prefer it lol. if people don’t buy the game because of this, well thats pretty sad. i guess that’s what the capcops were afraid of??
Played some more and the netcode is pretty godlike. I don’t drop combos due to lag and I can anti-air everytime someone jumps at me.
I’ll take this and shit sound over input delay any day of the week. Fire up winamp and listen to music or some podcasts while you play.
It’s a combination of people being too used to variable delay/slowdown based netcode and no understanding the reality of lag. I remember when 3SOE came out and every casual from here to Zanzibar was complaining about rollbacks - to the point where Mike Z had to write an article on why rollback netcode is good for his own game (Skullgirls).
So are they now trying to say,“Accept the online with no audio, or get the audio but more lag.” These guys at Capcom are full of it. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a videogame on the worldwide market doing this. The sacrificing of sound for playability.
Thousands of ppl made sure they had all of their $$$ upfront to pay for this game. All we ask is that its complete & worth every penny when we receive it.
AAAaaaaaaAAAa, Arturo, going in on Esporrrrrrrts. Okay, I’m done.
On the real though, Art is 100% right. The issue with the sound is what it is, but the netcode is pretty amazing in comparison to past Capcom games.
You’re misconstruing what they’re saying. All they’re saying is that the sound issues have something to do with the rollbacks and that they’re looking into fixing it.
Why are people so knee-jerk and reactive to think that Capcom have these layers and layers of conspiracies to steal all of their money?
I had a really bad match just now. It had the hallmarks everything a game with bad connection normally has but this one was special. Near the end of the round the screen completely went red and all I was able to see where the characters shadows. I never had anything like that happen to me before. I’m just going to dashboard the next time shit like that happens.
Must be an aberration.
Good netcode can’t save bad connections. Had that been sf4 the game probably would have just dropped.
what I don’t get is why they didn’t made the sound simply ignoring roll backs and just finish playing. a weird thing where you will hear a shoryuken on your end while you got hit is less likely than random audio cuts through the whole match. I doubt that will cost any netperformance as the sound will be simply offsync instead of getting cut out.
As I said, the only real issue is the fact that you cannot manually set the delay level like in GGPO. If you could, all the <redacted> complaining about the rollbacks could simply dial it up to 5 or 6 and have less rollbacks in favor of alot of input delay.
I would have preferred if the match did drop. I never want to have a match where I can’t see what’s happening onscreen.
