I don’t rage quit but just had too the other day. While many people like online play, I like playing games offline. Decided to try online for the first time, this other guy just spam King’s fireball over and over in the corner and the lag was so bad I couldn’t jump in time, couldn’t roll when I needed to. After 3 match of the same thing I just shut the power off right there and then. I went to bed pissed off, the input lag is just horrible. Played fighting games since forever, can’t just lose to fireball spam, it’s ridiculous.
I told you guys they didnt do anything to fix the netcode. They just made it so it didnt lie about how good or bad the connect actually was anymore.
Ya’ll got trolled into playing a offline only game online.
Don’t support their games in the future if offline matters to you. 12 and 13 are a total disaster in anything but offline.
Hopefully Capcom can finally buy the rights and put out CvS3 or CvS2:OE to keep them afloat financially.
I’m new to the series but its disheartened me knowing i will never be competitive if I can’t play online. I have zero scene here, I have yet to see an arcade with ANY FG in it, and no luck finding other console players. Are game developers just too arrogant to use GGPO? This game is unplayable online.
After seeing what HDR and 3SOE are like with supposedly GGPO, I wouldn’t put much faith in it even if the devs would use it in their console games.
GGPO is reliant on your internet being good though, which a LOT of people conveniently forget. They play on slower cable or even wireless and expect perfection just because a game uses GGPO.
That being said, KoF13 is a absolute joke online. If I can’t get matches that are pretty freaking good quality with someone 3 miles away with both of us using a wired, cable connection, that shit is on the netcode.
Sucks, because KoF13 is a good game, but again with horrific netcode.
I know that there’s nothing wrong with my internet. The netcode in 3soe and hdr sucks. Actual GGPO on PC works great, though.
True, I was talking about ggpo for pc. I play 98 and SFA3 on there and even with pings in the 100s its perfectly playable.

Before the patch it was unplayable for me and i only played with 2 friends of my local scene online (lol), after patch i’ve found more consistent players with good connections and more friends to play but the netcode is still horrific with a lot of input lag with everyone else 100 miles away, only asian players can get a good online experience with the game, still love the game because is amazing and i still support the offline scene.
in my exp. its better than before. I played some chinese dude, and I’m on wireless.
only one of our 6 matches had some lag.
It would be very very helpful, if everyone also post his platform and if he/she plays on wired or wireless connection.
So many people are complaining about the netcode, without giving more informations like above. Perhaps they are all playing on PSN with wireless connections (dont want to start a xbl vs psn thread, but you get the idea) or even a shared one (college shared apartment).
That only scares away possible new players which are browsing the KOF chapter to gather information.
I for myself are playing on xboxlive with a wired connection (location Germany) and absolutely cant complain.
I play mostly 3 bars opponents (widely available) and the gameplay experience is absolutely comparable with SF4 green bar.
XBox here, wired cable, 3 bars and above are great for me as long as they’re not wireless. All HD combos possible, some super strict 1-2 frame link combos are iffy but still possible sometimes.
The patch improved the netcode a lot in my experience. I was used to GGPO so I have a good benchmark of what’s acceptable. I will say it seems more sensitive to bad connections than before, coping more poorly with wireless in general, but if the connections are solid (all ports open/forwarded, wired, non-shared), it plays great. Even some 2 bars play good.
No, it doesn’t. At least not to me.
I believe It also depends on how much RAM you’re running as well. I could be wrong.
But I think I’m done with KOF. I can’t find anyone to play online, and there is no local scene in Hawaii.
I’m going to trade this bad boy in.
i think that the netcode would be fine for a game that requires less execution than kof13, but thats not the case. i still think its unplayable. i quit playing this game after like a week because of this and now im just going to completely drop it since i havent been keeping up and realized that the only way to get some decent matches in is to drive 2 hours to play offline. can’t say i’m dedicated enough to travel that far to play casuals lol.
Is it me, or does nobody play this game anymore on PS3? Whenever I search, only 1-2 rooms show up, and even if I make a room and someone with a 3-4 bar connection shows up, the game either lags like crazy or the connection is lost in the character select screen. Maybe I’m just looking at the wrong time, or maybe it’s the game itself. Who knows…
Well, SFxT did just come out…
You’re probably playing wireless opponents. Try looking for friend requests at the online players thread.
I tried a 4 bar connection the other night and it was quite laggy… Other times 3 bar is silky smooth.
Why did SNK make the netcode suck so bad?
It isn’t that bad. Make sure you are playing wired or it might be the off chance that they are playing wireless, try another connect. It wasn’t the case for me that everyone was laggy.
Online is not the best in this game but I think people are over exaggerating saying that its unplayable. in my experience whenever I play 3 or 4 bar players it very rarely lags at all a few hiccups every now and then but nothing rage worthy.
