Net Code Report for KOF 13

I think the game starts loading the match before the team order screen finishes now. It gives the impression of shorter load times, but causes the slowdown.

At least that’s how it seems to me.

Yeah, I’m finding out with 4bar/blue (and 3bar/green) bars that the input delay has been squashed a bit for more hiccups and slowdown at sometimes, depending on who you are facing. I played someone had was using wireless and a shitty download and upload speed but it was blue bars, but there was slowdown EVERYWHERE, and when there wasn’t it was gone and the delay was down. And I have also noticed some matches getting progressively laggier as time went on against some people.

Also, if anyone here is interested, there will be a hosting session next Saturday to find players on PSN and XBL who have good blue and green bar connections, and kind of organizing players whom you both feel have good connections with. Here are the details: http://dreamcancel.com/forum/index.php?topic=2024.0

i’ve noticed that it is much easier to find 4/3 bar matches on Xbox live now after the patch. I’ve been playing online quite happily haha

I have to ask as to whether there aren’t players or the netcode is just very bad in comparison to other fighters. I’m saying this because for me SSF4, UMVC3, and SCV play very smooth (this partly due to that I only want to play 4-5 bar connections) and its not like I have to refresh multiple times either. The only time I’ve done online for KoF13 is with a friend that lives only 20 min. away and for umvc3 we have practically a perfect connection, every other time I’ve tried to search I only find 1 bar connections on the list. When I tried to play KoF with the friend the matches were very sluggish with heavy input delays and an eventual match drop…thats really disheartening.

Other games I have are 3SO and AH3…but there doesn’t seem to be people playing them anymore.

I would recommend a wired connection for both you and your friend.

The netcode is abysmal. Tried one game with a guy who lives about in the same country, about 260 miles apart, and there was a huge delay and constant lag spikes, enough for me. If this is what the “fixed” netcode is like, I can’t even image what it was like pre patch.

The havent fixed the netcode.

This is what potential buyers of this game are doing when they hear the netcode still sucks 2 patches later. SNK, why do you hate crab Putin? Also he’s hopping because he likes SNK games with hops in them, I guess.
.

I had a set and I could pretty much do whatever save for not being able to do any reversals. I could feel the lag but it didn’t royally screw me up.

My matches online have been good as well, 3 and 4 bars, wireless college in internet, only once did it slow down in my sets. My opponents were doing HD combos too.

It feels a lot better to me, playing every night, 30-40 matches(wired,360), with very few laggy matches, maybe a handful.
Lots of new players, but even the seasoned players seemed to pulling off alot more complex stuff with good consistency than pre-patch. Lots more HD combos and tricks being thrown around.
Players on my friends list are playing the game online alot more than before the patch…save for 1, who is still in denial that his connection just sucks. So the patch must have done something right…shit works better.

Time to take the WiFi connections out back and shoot 'em, if you haven’t already.

The games is so laggy on PS3, I expect more on this update, the game is unplayable, even if you have a match of 4 bars.
You only can play against a friend of your list of psn dudes… but otherway, this is unplayable… the game is so wonderful, but without online it’s nothing,
I don’t know the difference between xbox and PS3…

Also finally able to give my opinion on this:
So I played a lot of matches lately, lost most obviously, also only had 3 and 2 bars, not one 4 bar match. Still if there was any delay it was hardly noticable.
I could always do all combos i desired, even drive canceling leonas HD-stuff worked(not that i landed it…) and all the other fancy stuff.

Also a lot of times my connection went from 2 to 3 bars after i entered a room, which is nice.

XBOX 360 HERE: 3 bars is plenty noticeable and fucks my timing up worse than it does on VF5. Like SF4-levels of delay in a game that’s a lot faster and has less generous buffers. I’m sorry but it’s still bad. Case closed.

Every match I had online (most being green) was heavily delayed and unplayable. Guess I’m not finding anyone close enough or my connection just blows.

Very heartbroken, either way.

Bad Connections are expected but why the input lag, why snk, WHY???

For the select few who are having more stable connections with some players, we are netplaying on Saturday if you are interested: http://dreamcancel.com/forum/index.php?topic=2070.0

In my experience, it’s either 4 bars or GTFO. Even still, 4 bar connections still don’t feel that great but this is coming from someone who’s spoiled by offline play, lol.

wired ps3 and still lagging when i can find matches

After playing a while with another guy, I’m going to have to retract my earlier comment a little bit. The guy I tried to play last time had shitty internet, so it was a lag fest. The games with the other guy I’ve played now have been much “better”, but it still lags very noticebly. For instance I can’t do Raiden’s bnb of spit into head crusher, the throw always whiffs and the guy just mashes in between always and gets a combo. Kim becomes fucking god tier online because you can’t properly punish hangetzuzan, it’s like ken’s lp dp in sf4 that when you try to punish it, you’ll just get hit by another mashed out lp dp only in this case it’s a mashed out hienzan. Kim can legimetly mixup what he does after hangetzuzan because it lags so much, it’s driving me nuts. EX Iori’s rekkas are also apparently impossible to complete online. Jumping or hopping in also becomes godlike because you can’t anti-air them on reaction properly. The list goes on.

All in all, XIII online sucks.
