Net Code Report for KOF 13

People serriously can’t find others who are in the same coast or part of their country? Of course it’s going to lag when you just play randoms from South America.

I’m playing 2 friends an hour away from me. The max is 3 bars, one is 2 bars. Granted the one’s internet isn’t set up right and I think both might be wireless but still, it’s noticeable lag.

People really should take a page from HDR or BB. I just don’t get why companies feel the need to keep trying to “be a hero” with this shit.

Most of my friends are already refusing to buy the game because of bad review of online play… SNK should patch up as soon as possible or this awesome game won’t last long. In addition, local offline showed me that most people are not interested in KoF13. It seems that I may have to join SSF4AE 2012, UMvC3 bandwagons if KoF13 community stops growing soon.

After playing online several times, I have to say the netcode is not that bad… I felt so burned by KOF XII, I was skeptical, but I really can’t hate on the netcode – people saying it’s terrible are truly overstating the problem by a lot.

Last night, I played a guy with 3 bars and it was fine, I played a guy with 4 bars and it was fine, and I also played a guy 2 bars and it was definitely playable. I’m not saying I don’t want SNK to patch it if they can, why wouldn’t I want that, I want the online to be as good as possible. But, if more people had this game and were less afraid of the netcode (which is 110% SNK’s fault for repeatedly delivering utter crap up until now) this game would be considered to be pretty much on par with most other fighting games online.

Lol, missing out on this godlike game cause of netplay.

Shit is not even as bad as MK9 was at launch. And I remember there still being a shit ton of lobbys in the game still with shit netcode at launch, because the game was fun. And NRS still tryed / trying there best to improve it for there community. Hell there even patching the Klassic Edition.

And thats at Launch, Company’s always patch games after times of the release. Plus, the community (Nilcam) from Dreamcancel already made a letter to SNK. Furthermore, Atlus was VERY concerned about the netplay before launch and while making the game, im sure there still concerned if were not having a good online experience.

Try to be patient, dont miss out on this game.

Well, that’s good to hear.

Let’s hope it doesn’t take them months.

Beat me too it. Good shit A1 as always

Tried playing again, this time on a wired connection, same problem. The only other issue at this point is my crappy 2MB connection. Problem is, I’m not responsible for the service, otherwise I’d be on a blazing fast connection like before. If I still have the same problem even with a fast connection, then I’ll chalk it up to bad netcode.

Still better than MK9 or UMVC3 for me. Some yellows can be decent, most greens are decent with a few sluggish movement matches here and there.

They will miss out on the game. Netcode quality has become the #1 most important factor now. I understand that people want opponents to play against but netcode now breaks or makes a game.

can you filter search results by country or continent in this game? and are flags shown? neither apply to 3SOE so i feel obligated to ask now. if the netcode is bad and you have no control over who you play, then i might have to pass even though i want to get this.

you can filter by region I think and you can definitely filter by connection… however in my experience either way your not gonna find a good match. Maybe it has improved, I haven’t messed with ranked since the first few days in, but it was insanely hard to find ANY match on ranked, nevermind good matches.

this doesn’t mean it’s impossible to get good games, but I think a friendslist of people who you connect well with is important in this one.

Anyone feel free to correct me on ranked since I haven’t bothered with it in awhile.

If that was true people wouldn’t buy Marvel nor MK9.

Just played my first match. It said 4 bar when I got into the room it was 3. I really hope the actual match wasn’t a typical 3 bar connection because that shit was horrible. You could feel the input delay on the character select screen ffs lol. Im pretty sure the in game lag actually helped me kill 1 of his 3 characters. I might have gotten perfected if it was a good connection lol.

For me the netcode isn’t a huge issue right now because this is my first KOF game so im going to be in the training room for the most part learning the ins and outs, practicing my hit confirms etc.

This game is phenomenal and I plan to play it offline anyways so no way am I going to give it up just because of some laggy netcode.

Besides those trials are Godlike. Its going to take me forever to nail all of them haha.

It’s true. It just doesn’t apply to everyone. I have MK9 because I really like the game. Poor netcode will make or break a game. People are already trading in their copies, some outright refuse to buy the game because of the netcode. When I traded in MVC3 it wasn’t about the netcode, it’s because I didn’t enjoy the game. Netcode is a huge factor. A nasty one. You are seeing people turn away from quality games like XIII because of it. It’s a shame but that’s how it is for some people.

I am in that camp, I wasn’t going to buy it until I heard the netplay was on par with every other popular game. but unfortunately my hype got the better of me and I couldn’t resist grabbing the last copy I seen sitting on the shelf after hearing a few people say good things about the net play.

I don’t always require great netplay, I really dug MVC3 and had plenty of friends into it to still justify the purchase, but not only is KOFXIII not popular within my circle of friends or scene, it’s also got alot to prove after XII let me down so hard.

I think KOF XII was alot of new SFIV kid’s first foray into the KOF series and honestly let’s put it this way, if I thought SF2 sucked balls, I wouldn’t be hyped for SF alpha.

I can never find 3 bars
only 2
And when I though I found a 3 bar, it became 2

oh well, its still the best fighting game of this generation so far (lets see what happens with SKG and SFTK)

3 Bars is disastrous i dont even want to think about how bad the lower connections are.

Have not ran across anyone with 4 bars so far.

I see what you guys are saying about the netplay. Tried doing some of the drive cancels with Ralf, can’t even hit those. It’s good for practicing the fundamentals though, I’ve done well with Athena.
