Blazblue plays great online, but that’s more of a system thing with it’s huge amount of input buffer and hitstun then any kind of “magic” netcode.
dunno if u have the ps3, if u have add me mauri85sz, i live in shenzhen…so we can try a bit…my qq is 1545725405
I don’t understand how Blazblue can have amazing netcode. SSF4 can have so so netcode, and yet a game like KOF XIII which needs to be at the top of its game releases with the same shoddy netcode its XBL ports get.
I have no played a game that ran as poorly as this game does since the games I played on Xbox, or even on PS2 modem. I mean, it’s just horrible. I’ve had better connections over Zsnes.
While it’s certainly true that GGPO would have been better, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use a wired connection anyway. Using a wire will only help things - using wifi while complaining about netcode is like complaining nike makes shitty shoes and then going around barefoot.
If the netcode sucks, do you what you can to help it, you know? USE DAT WIRE.
ALSO, make sure you people make player match rooms, and try to only play people with 4 bars. DON’T TOUCHED RANKED. THAT SHIT IS LAGGY AS HELL AND YOU CAN’T BACK OUT. You can still level up using player matches, if you’re a point whore like that…
Well okay, I should have said: feel lag free.
I don’t have any trouble finding matches in SF4 that ‘feel’ lag free.
I expect the same from this game. The sad truth is for a new KOF player like me (and many others, I’m sure) is that if they don’t patch this pretty soon and good, I will move on, not to mention to not bother with another KOF game again until I’m absolutely sure the netcode is close to perfect.
Buddy of mine Pignutz told me the online is ass. Glad I didn’t fall for the fake hype on the new improved netcode. Wasted money on 2k2UM from xbl, not going to fall for the same shit again.
If you have no one to play with offline, do not buy this game. Online play heavily relies on number of close local players with good internet connections. Anything below 3~4 ping is unplayable. Whenever you play less than or equal to 2 ping player or sometimes 3 ping player, you will have hard time reacting for jumpy noob , which will give you no problem in offline play.
The game is still awesome, but if you’re a type of player who only plays online matches and very little offline matches, then the game is not worth your money.

An open letter regarding KOFXIII online play
Posted on November 29, 2011 by nilcam
This letter has been written by the staff at dreamcancel.com in an effort to urge SNKPlaymore and Atlus to address the online play issues of The King of Fighters XIII. Before posting it, I also forwarded it to the appropriate company representatives.
First, I’d like to take the opportunity to congratulate Atlus and its efforts in publishing and promoting an amazing product in The King of Fighters XIII. I honestly cannot remember the last time that KOF was so prominent in the gaming mainstream or was so highly regarded by gamers and critics alike. The Dream Cancel community greatly appreciates your effort.
That said, there is problem with the title – the online experience. While it is true KOFXIII provides a much better online experience than XII, it needs to be improved in order for the game to thrive in the United States. We understand the difficulty of creating a flawless online experience for a country as large as the U.S. with as varied an infrastructure but it is something the Dream Cancel community strongly feels is necessary. While we are seeing a growth in KOF play in local communities, most players both want and need to be able to play the game as flawlessly as possible online in order to build up their skills and confidence so they can participate in tournaments and expand the game’s lifespan.
At Dream Cancel, we have a thread discussing theonline experience and, overall, the community finds it to be decent but not good enough for high level play. Please take some time to review the thread (http://dreamcancel.com/forum/index.php?topic=1521.0) and read what the community has to say.
Thank you for your time.
Best regards,

This is from one of the dedicated KoF websites. And even they admit the online is total ass (again!).
I played a few matches on PS3, wired with good net, at a friend’s house this past weekend, and it was atrocious. We played maybe 20 ranked matches, never saw a 4 bar connection, and 3 bar ones were sometimes fine (albeit there always being steady input lag) and at other times were underwater. 2 bars were consistently bad.
Such a shame. I wanted this to succeed but won’t give them money if this is what they’re trotting out as netcode after advertising it as new and improved.
edit: And I totally will buy this if SNK decides to patch it to a working status. If only to support legit animation in fighting games. The game itself is really good, but unless you have locals to play against (in person at that) the game is a training mode / arcade buy only. And if they don’t patch the netcode, then the game deserves to fail commercially. (And Capcom can buy the rights and make us CvS3 )
Cool cool
I’m gonna try local offline casual for KoF13 and will see if anyone shows interest in the game. If no one does, I will just sell the copy and say good-bye to KoF series.
I won’t be selling this game, I love this game… I will just be heartbroken if it doesn’t get patched and it just ends up another game that had potential but died and collects dust on my shelf.
I had a few decent online sessions today. The people were 3 bars and up and it ran great.
i pre ordered for xbox on amazon, it was taking to long to ship with the thanksgiving staling things, so i had my friend grab me a copy for my ps3 to play while i wait for my xbox version…i played several days on psn and it was bad
today my xbox version showed up and threw it in and all the matchs are 1 bar and 2 bar …lucky to see a 3 just like psn , But like most online games it runs better on xbox live and lags more on psn…so if you have both systems like me …Take the xbox dont be a fan boy, unless you play alone.
Im guessing a lot of you guys are playing this on PSN right?
I’ve played this on XBL and I have had shittastic connections. This makes marvels netcode look godlike. Then again, I havent played anyone near me to fairly judge, but so far it sucks.
This could be why im having a better experience than most. Yea Ive come across a few matches that were unplayable but the majority of my games are playable. Ive had some great fun matches. I suggest those that do have both Xbox and PS3, try out the Xbox online version and see for yourself.
I played a random match against Luigi-Bo on PS3 (didn’t know he played). Had some bad input lag, felt like Tekken 6 all over again (before the patch). It’s probably my connection, because his moves looked like they came out easily. I had a 3 bar connection, but I’m on wireless and not near my router. I’ll have to try again on a wired connection.
Today was the first day that I was able to play a lot of online matches.
I only had 3 bar matches and while they all had lag, the game was still playable.
I had a lot of fun playing matches, but I realized that on a higher level I would have been annoyed the see my timing be off thanks to the lag and missing important combo’s. So I really hope they patch the online mode up, because it really is a fantastic fighter, and I would hate for it to die in a few months.
I’m on 360 by the way.
Seems like people are just regurgitating things they’ve read over the web and discounting the fact that people don’t get this type of shitty experience when they play other games using their exact same setup. Wired v. wireless is not the issue here. Sub-par netcode is the issue.
