Net Code Report for KOF 13

Today I had no luck at all
I only found red bars.

Can’t get better without anyone to play with

Ya, it’s getting harder to find a decent connection and a good player everyday… It seems that people are already giving up on online play or discarding the game…

For those who still play online, please play Player Match instead of Ranked Match. I don’t think you can kick bad connection in Ranked Match, but you can in Player Match.

I pretty much play one friend locally online when we can’t meet up, and we have some good matches for the most part. The few randoms I had a few weeks back were bad, one more recently that was a bit better but… yeah. 2 bar.

I’m hoping to get more in this weekend and see how it goes - getting killed this week, lots of projects so I haven’t been able to play much at all. :frowning:

I don’t play ranked anything anymore, not this game, not BB, not AE… anything. UNLESS I just cannot find an endless/player/etc. match.

Got my game yesterday. Netcode is utter shit.

Really this game embodies the whole under water thing. Really sad, but I’ll just get back to waiting for Skullgirls I suppose.

Played 40 matches or so yesterday, had pretty good connections most of the day(360, wired, hosting, Colorado location). Kicked a few Yellow bars that were pretty slow, ran into a few of them later on in the day and the connection was much better. Feels like if the match is sorta sluggish or on the verge of being good you can try inviting people again and it might improve. Gave every connection a shot though, about and even split between Yellow and Green. Haven’t seen a red since day one. Most games were pretty good. My execution is still on the sloppy side and I make a lot of mistakes, but very rarely has the netcode dropped to hopeless levels like MVC3 or MK for me. I suck at Marvel so I might not be a great judge of UMVC3’s online overall, but KOF is Fucktons better online than Mortal Kombat, I’ll be suspect of anyone who would try to claim otherwise…

I dunno, everything I can do in practice I can do online if I don’t get nervous and fuck up. Only declined rematches on 4 people yesterday because it felt really slow, but I rarely get to select my character for practice mode before someone joins up. I can’t say it’s been a negative experience for me.

“Shrugs”

@SF-Zero2 - I’m probably going to do something similar this Saturday afternoon (finally a day to breathe!), just play a bunch of folks and see how it goes. When playing my local friend, it wasn’t terrible and I was able to do most of what my scrubby ass is capable of. :-p My mistakes were for the most part, my fault.

Wired connection, but I’m on Qwest’s bullshit service at the moment (changing that real soon).

That said, I hope no one takes that as a “netcode is fine!” thing. It’s DOABLE but it seems very situation, something I’m sure no one wants. I’m hoping to start going to stuff locally after the holidays, but a lot of the time I kinda’ have to play online outside of weekends. It’d be nice for the game to be able to consistently handle that.

I’ve hosted nearly all my matches if that counts for anything, so I can’t speak for everyone. I’m not trying to imply with my posts that people are full of shit(unless someone says MK has better online) and that it’s the best netcode ever, I’m just posting what my overall experience has been. I just figure the more detail I can provide with KOFXIII and other online fighters I play might give someone a better idea of what they’re getting into. Yeah, it could be better overall, but I’m enjoying it. Plus I love the game to death already, so I’m willing to be a little more patient with it.

Matches are way better on X360.

Read the red box.

Hopefully with the patch I’ll at least be able to get playable games with Sparkster who’s 2 states away from me.

i bought vanilla marvel because capcom lied to me saying it was good

we’re running an illegal version of umvc3 because there is 0 reason to actually buy the game. Why should I buy the game if online is shit garbage? whats preventing me from modding my system and scamming the company out of a few bucks? having a good net code does more than create better sales. It cracks down on piracy a bit too.

If i’m a dedicated fan to the series, marvel, I MAY buy it just to practice but these other games like kof 13\sf4ae were definitely a wait see approach. I’ve always wanted to play this game but I don’t have any comp in my area therefore if I want to be good, having a stable net code would definitely make me buy it

for a title that doesn’t have the same fan base as capcom games, god like net code is paramount. It would the only advantage to play kof 13 over sf4 online.

capcom games are a fan based driven game. People will go out and buy 2-3 copies of the game because of their retarded ass fandom so Capcom can’t actually get away with releasing garbage net code. It is not like that for KOF, this is mainly a pro’s game and there are very few fan boys to help boost sales like that so creating a good product with superior net code makes all the difference.

I will try the demo tonight and see if its worth it.

I’m amazed at how responsible and visible Atlus/SNKP is with addressing concerns. That’s an advertisement that they address the netcode on.

me too

it gives me hope that one day, games will be good online instead of terrible. @ least snkp is man enough to admit it where as capcom just flat out lies or dodges questions about the subject @ hand. I really wish capcom would come out and just say their net code is just shit garbage and address the issues @ hand rather than have their countless forum tards them its good and blow smoke up their asses.

Im so glad that SNK hired such an amazing company to do their marketing.

I lately have been finding lots of green bars in ranked match, still no luck at all in player match.
Green bars is playable, but Athena’s zoning suddenly becomes twice as effective due to the small lag there is (can’t react to fireballs with rolls)
All in all, I hope the patch makes it easier to find blue bars, cause I haven’t played any so far.

This game is amazing

Most games today are good online, but I guess you just mean fighting games? It feels like fighting games are many, many years behind when it comes to online. Also most noticable here, so it’s a pity they can’t do it right. I think consoles carry a lot of the blame as well. Been playing AE PC since release, and played some AE on ps3 last week. Might’ve been bad luck with connections, but it just felt terrible. Fighting games are the only games I actually feel worried about online playability when I buy them, but enough ranting.

No luck for me so far in kof13 online on PSN. Have yet to run into a 4 bar connection, but a couple 3 bar ones. They usually drop down to 2 later on though -.-
3 bars doesn’t lag like crazy, but it feels crazy slow and clunky. Not a good combination when you are completely new to kof, very hard to get any productive practice. Glad to hear about the patch, just hope it actually helps enough

Fighting games are easily the most sensitive to any sort of lag/delay.

I’m in WA and just played 21 matches with a fellow srker from Oregon. Connection was awesome. When I wasn’t getting killed, I was able to block mix-ups that I couldn’t yesterday, and combos were getting pulled off on me like me they seemed pretty easy. Easily the best connection so far and more than doable. Pumped!

Made a point to play only Greens and I seem to be dropping combos left and right. I even drop Flame Iori’s standing or crouching C into Rekka. That’s literally one of the easiest combos you could do with Iori and it rarely comes out online.

Xbox360 around 10-12m down 1-2m up. I played about five to ten games the other day on a 2 bar connection that started a little laggy but cleared up after the first match. After the clear up there was barely any really noticible problems. The only real lag came after my bro hap hazardly started DLing some stuff which he quickly shut off and the game went back to normal.
