Yeah, the match making is good but I really think there is a bug in the filter. There is no way in hell some people should have a net quality of 4 or above and be warping around. Why can’t we just have pings like the old days?
Having a player have the choice to set their flag region is also a mistake, since anyone can put in they’re from somewhere they aren’t and it doesn’t players who want to play by region. That should be a fixed thing, based on where you’re located, not what you choose.
The good matches that I had were great. The input lag is really good in this netcode, but the warping needs to go and the filters need to be better. There was also no option to filter by PC specs, which should be a standard because I do not want to play someone who’s PC can’t keep up.
Cross platform play was pretty solid as well. I couldn’t tell from the netcode which platform I was playing against, so that’s something they’re doing right.
When I was waiting for matches in the ranked mode queue, the background had my state (FL) circled even though the game didn’t ask me what state I lived in. Maybe it does it automatically, since I played against 1 guy from Canada the entire time I played (which was 3 hours).
I think the netcode is great. I was matched vs USA and Canada from Korea a lot. Some of the matches were actually playable in terms of I could kinda do what I wanted to. Still horrible overall cause the distance, but considering some actually played decent from that far means there should be no problem in the states and playing Canada/Mexico depending where you are at.
I remember the A2 only build of GGPO I could play Japan from Wyoming. Sorta reminds me of that. When I did get a Korean or Japanese opponent (outside a few matches) the shit was solid.
Region filtering is based on your IP and routing and not on the flags. I was playing with no flag and it still consistently matched me with people from my region.
I dont think shit was working. I was matched with people in the USA and Canada despite being in Korea. I even had my options set to 4-5 bar matches only and every match was laggy as shit for the most part.
Same was happening to me. I was getting matched up with people in Canada and even Japan, and had filter set to 5 only. Had laggy matches with warping. Sometimes the matches were good, but there is definitely something not working right in the filtering system.
South western part of the USA. I’m pretty sure I had the regional filter set in addition to the quality filter, if there was a regional one. If there isn’t, then I was only using the quality filter. I wonder if one overrides the other, like if you have 5 set but no regional it takes anyone from a region? I haven’t been able to see the network settings since the beta closed and I can’t recall exactly what they were other than setting it to 5 only.
It is soooooo laggy right now. Have had it on 4-5 bars and still get 70% laggy matches. Now putting it on only 5 bars since 4 bars seem to be skipping all over the place. Man, they have really fucked this netcode up.
No ping, no ability to discern between opponents based on connection. Yeah that’s right capcom, base my rank on teleports fighter… That’s awesome!
Lag gets so bad that I input jump with Chun and never see her leave the ground, then I see her port to landing at opponent chest height. Inputs dropped all the time, dashes not coming out.
also, idk it might just be me but the game seems less responsive even in decent connections… Like there is inherent Input lag added in.
The game seems at many times barely above marvel netcode… It’s literally that bad. I really hope capcom gets its shit together on this but it doesn’t look like it will with the game playing this badly in AU.
SG on the other hand gives me playable connections 4K miles away. How this netcode is so bad is beyond me.
