i live in a state where i can go to a tournament and DoA5 gets ran…but TTT2 doesnt because theres not enough entrants?
I FUCKING GIVE UP
i can name 20 or more guys in this state who say they “play” Tekken, but i cant get 8 people to show up for a local tournament OR weekly event?
I FUCKING GIVE UP
this shit isnt cheap for me. i allocate my money I DONT HAVE and take time away from MY KID and put out MY EFFORT to be where i say im going to be and im quite frankly sick of this result over and over again. to the KDP guys credit, they did offer to make it a free tournament to drum up interest, but that honestly wouldnt have made it any better. what would i have been playing for?
if TTT2 gets dropped as a tournament game, will it hurt me? YES.
but it wont be for lack of trying on my part.
unless you are one of the people who brings your ass out to play dont bother trying to retort or bait me into an argument.
EDIT: before anybody says anything, this post will also be placed where others that need to see it can see it.
Not speaking ill of what you are posting here (as I can understand and I feel your pain) but I just want you to see something that I found today:
This just shows that DOA5 is a popular title and is showing so in sales. TTT2 is one of the titles I wish I had time to learn, but from what you have been saying it seems difficult to get into from lack of support.
I feel for you because I know how it is to love a game and just not have the support you need for it in the area you live. Thats one of the reasons I moved from PA to Raleigh because the interest in the games I like is much higher. (You can complain about Raleigh all you like, but at least someone other than you plays a title, I was the ONLY person back home).
Also: TTT was SOOOOOO awesome (best Tekken ever). I’m so sad that TTT2 isn’t performing as well.
Small discussion time, looking to see what the opinion of P4A is in this state. Be realistic, I don’t care if you say it’s dead I want peoples input, to try to get majority opinion on is this game still alive in the state, is it going to last, or is it pretty much time to hit the nail on the coffin.
Most people already know my opinion on it. It had a good start in August but started getting shaky even during release so 4 months down the road I really don’t feel as if it’s going to last but that’s how I feel and not directly associated with whether KDP will run it or not since it’s more of a matter of the opinions of people as a whole since we run games for NC specifically.
I just would rather not have people come out for it from out of state and have it have low numbers so if we think NC will pick it back up similar to the KoF resurgence then cool if not let’s figure out what to do.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST BE THERE ON TIME!!! REGISTRATION STARTS AT 6:00PM AND TOURNEY STARTS AT 8:00PM PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL AND SHOW UP ON TIME. CALL OR TEXT IF YOU WILL BE A LITTLE LATE…WE WILL NOT WAIT AN HOUR THOUGH!!! I CANNOT STRESS HOW IMPORTANT WE NEED EVERYONE TO BE ON TIME!!!

I’m starting to want to play it- despite Arc games being a foreign language to me. I don’t like how high combo damage is, but otherwise it seems to be good.
I suspect it’s dead- me liking a game kills it around here.
KoF I wasn’t surprised at it dying hard after EVO. Too many other options that are more accessible and good games as well.
Other good games?.. Maybe other playable games but hardly good games. P4A… AE… They’re just easier to play. Sorry Demo. I don’t play Tekken but I know how you feel. Just have fun playing it yourself and join the bandwagon and play the easy games (Starts learning UMvC3 today).
Oh yeah still recovering from surgery. 4 Holes in my stomach hurts a lot more than I thought it would. I still can’t drive. Not sure if I can make WNB tomorrow. I hope to make it though. Have a great day gamers.
With respect to P4U, I think GG’s re-release is the final nail in its coffin for Boone. Right now there are four games that people up here are playing: AE, UMvC3, GGAC, and Aquapazza. The problem isn’t that Persona’s a bad game per-se, just that nobody here would rather play it than Accent Core, and that fills the ASW niche. Melty has pretty much gone the same way (despite being a very different game fundamentally) - I think of it as an equal to GG and therefore one of my two favorite fighting games, so while I’d be happier if both were getting played, I’m fine with having genuine interest in GG here instead.
KoF was never really alive here, unfortunately. I tried (and not alone), but two peoples’ day-1 purchases didn’t help much when most peoples’ initial reaction of “Fun, but I can’t buy it right now” was replaced with “I couldn’t ever catch up so I’m not going to bother” after a couple weeks.
I’ve had a relative that got the same surgery… although it was about 10 years ago so the way they do it is probably way more efficient now just be careful dude this shit is seriously serious but I doubt I have to tell you that. KoF will probably keep going it seems to have stabilized at WNB now. Just take it easy, if it dies some random death i’ll work to get everyone back together again if you’re feeling well enough to show up in the near future.
The unfortunate truth that people are afraid of not being able to catch up and just give up all together and go back to the stuff they’ve always been playing. It’s that or they buy the game, they get blown up and instead of trying to learn how to play the game they just give up.
All games will die and all players must be broken, that’s the law of 2012.
Seriously, you hit it right on. Folks ultimately play these games for fun. Losing in a new game isn’t fun when you know you would be winning more something you already enjoy, you already have, and is still being played at least somewhat.
I mean, take Tekken. If I didn’t have VF, I’d probably still be grinding it out, it’s not a bad game, but I don’t love it. I have VF though, so why would I keep playing a game I don’t like as much (this isn’t a slam on Tekken- it’s a solid game, it’s just something I like less than VF)? This is why folks drop fighters so fast these days- they’ve already set their sites on their favorites, and while I think people are open to new stuff, it really has to make a strong impression for folks to stay at it. This isn’t going to change until there’s a good half-year to year of no major titles.
I still like to play persona but the game seems to be dead overall… Its even hard finding matches online on XBL at least. Last time I went on there were was no one in Ranked matches at all and there was one player match lobby with around 3 people in it at around 8pm. Seemed officially dead to me. For now I think I’m going to just try and learn some GG stuff.
I really don’t enjoy P4A too much. It was a fun fuck around game but I don’t really see myself investing a whole lot more time in it. As far as NC goes… yeah, mostly dead.
