It frustrates me when you want to play games that you don’t even have though, dude. I know money is tight but it’s kind of disrespectful in my opinion. I do see you wanting to play and I appreciate that but my mentality is if I don’t have the tools to learn, I either need to obtain them or do something that I CAN do. That’s why I distance myself from marvel or AE players, because I cannot compete with them or even help them learn. I realize that its the most wrongful way I could go about this stuff, but that’s my mind-set. I don’t mean to come off like a dick but if I did, I’m sorry but I can’t dedicate my day to teaching someone when I, myself, am scrubby and of no help to you.
I don’t think the buddy buddy stuff is going on as much anymore but it’s still there. I forgot who said it but the reason the old scene was so fierce is because they were fierce rivals in the games they played and in the tournaments and then outside of the serious matches they’d go get something to eat/drink while discussing how to get better/new technology and so on. I don’t really see why people can’t just beat some ass while being friends outside the game.
I owned Tekken 6 and KOFXIII. WTF? As far as not owning the game like Tag2 I still have the characters from six and have asked about borrowing the game to practice up. I understand borrowing would not be up to par with many people so I asked if I could come over sometime and practice at your place. Why are you so worried about who you play when ypu’re not playing anyone? Justin and Bryan still invite me out even though they know I don’t own the game yet. Im still able to learn some things and overall have a good time.
I understand in other cities where you have that one friend who gets EVERY game as soon as it comes out and you guys would go over to their place to play. Kinda like a home arcade. I really enjoyed that, but I understand that’s not the case here. But Im not gonna sit and post about how much I want to play but cant instead of trying to find a way to. Judge me for being unable to buy the game like everyone else, but dont count me out before even giving me a shot.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I’m from South Central PA. Want to start talking spread out?
How often did you get together wih people to play in PA?
EDIT: As far as Raleigh/Cary/Durham goes I know there are plenty of players in the area because I am currently staying around the area. But I can still manage to get in contact with players who stay niwhere near any of these cities.
Speaking of supporting games, if you’re in the area come out and support KDPs second event! Thanks to everyones feedback (which basically amounted to multiple pages of info and criticisms on how to keep improving) it’s going to be better than before. Most importantly, a large chunk of the bugs are almost out of the S.E…E.D system as well!
and for you FB guys

Also because of the overwhelming support from the KoF community we have bumped it up to the spotlight of A Spec!
I plan to start hosting sessions at my place. My place is pretty big and has a lot of room. The only problem is that I will need people to bring TVs
Unfortunately I can’t make it to WNB this weekend. I asked for a ride but no one responded in time so I planned something else. I definitely hope to be there next weekend though
Where do you live?
Yo NC, u mad?
just a lil bit
just a lil bit
About two guys locally and I could play maybe once a month. If I wanted to play in Scranton, Pittsburgh, or Philly with an amazing 15-20 people it was a 2+ hour drive.
I live off Gorman street near NC State
Shit, I’ll try to check the thread more often. I can give you a lift on the weeks I can make it out to WNB. You in Champion Court or something?
Let’s get some games in. I play KoF of course but as I have posted I need to play something else. Hit me up.
Good stuff at WNB! Unfortunately “The Watcher” not only made a return but a late entrance as well. Still though, good stuff from everybody who came out! I see that Tag2 over there! And not on some busted CRT either!
Man that does suck. My main issue is that even though there are a ton of people near me I still have to go out of my way to play people minus Tekken. Someone asked me why I went so far as to Charlotte (about 3 hours away) just to play casuals. Well, when the people who stay 10 minutes down the street can’t ever play what else can you do? Still don’t regret going out there though.
Let me know when you guys are playing again! Probably start trying to come out there again after the fair is done, but best believe somebody’s phone is about to get blown up. And like I said Marvel seems to be where a lot of the hype and money is at right now if you’re looking for an alternative game. Thinking about picking it up seriously myself.
Hey shoutouts to the great KoF tournament at WNB. Fun stuff as always, make sure to come support KoF again at the KDP Grand Prix 2nd Circuit http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads%2Foctober-27th-2012-kdp-grand-prix-2nd-circuit-fayetteville-nc.168653%2F and lets keep this game alive! We had a healthy amount of entrants last time (and that was with myself and Sal not even entering lol). Game is too good to go away so lets just keep it going.
I’ll be coming to WNB weekly still but make sure to come back November 13th for the next scheduled KoF tournament at WNB!
Damn I can’t make that tourney either. I have my surgery scheduled for the friday before the tourney. They only keep me for a day but It may not be in my best interest to go.
If I had to say as someone who has been through that kind of thing (and family members too) I think it’s DEFINITELY best for you to not go simply because surgery is kind of like… it fixes the problem but afterwards your body is like “wtf did you just do to me?”. It might be kind of unhealthy/dangerous I would take it easy. Don’t worry, KoF won’t die even more so if Evo announces it as a title for 2013. KDP and WNB have been working together to really keep it going strong.
Our next dates are November 24th and December 29th. I hope you feel better. If you’re feeling okay after the Surgery for the next day we actually are gonna be able to have a stream now unlike the last tournament where we got the equipment to the venue too late due to Nameda just having got out of the military so he didn’t have all the equipment in NC until a little later than expected. I’ll make sure to post the stream links up here.
Hey hey it’s discussion! Being that I’m turning into one of the old men…let me set the record straight…Concerning dedication, some players in NC want to talk the talk but don’t walk the walk (read: DRIVE SOMEWHERE AND TAKE SOME L’S). Lucky’s sort of broke this and the turnout issue I think because of the massive amount of games we tried to run, constant spam everywhere, and our persuasive (ie magic and charismatic) abilities, however, the issue was still prevalent. Tekken as an example.
The two current good games are KOFXIII and TTT2. The two popular games are those Capcom ones. Don’t believe my statement above? Think about what each of those two sets of games have in common independent of the other two. Hokuto No Ken didn’t last too long, did it? Put that game on 3/5 rounds, and it’s a Marvel match with one glaring difference: execution. AE is a solid game and does reward the core fundamentals, but put that same lens to KOF and now you’re talking fundamentals on almost a CVS2/MVC2-level (nothing dumbed down).
Phillip asked me the other day why I still play KOF when it’s usually only me and him and I tend to come out on top…every single time I play that game I feel like I learn something and every single time I feel like I’ve improved. Execution, spacing, reaction, decision making, high speed adaptation - just like when I forced myself into CVS2 in order to learn a more fundamentally sound game than 3rd Strike. Go to where you’ll get your ass beat over and over and over masochist-style until you start to win. The path of Ryu before you could do db,d,db,d,db,d,db,d+p and a get a DP. Yeah I left Javier’s bleeding, but not before visiting the CheeseBlake Factory. Plus it got too late and I was just too tired to recognize when to block Jakier’s dragon mashes. Bet it Jakier, bet it.
PS Lucky can rent the space next to his shop. Just throwing that out there. <3 you guys.
