NC Thread LXVIII

remember that door prize i was talking about? what my intention was was to have a round robin tournament (of course i wouldnt enter) for the people who showed up who were interested in Tekken but sitting on the fence about it and give the winner a copy of the game on their system of choice. as it went i wasnt just going to GIVE Q or Enzo (new guy who showed) the game for nothing but im still THINKING of doing that at one of the future sessions.

KoF has its FNI
Tekken will have the Battle in BFE

I need to stop dropping combos ]:

Thanks to Slayton for picking me up though. I think grand finals two weeks in a row is pretty good for someone relatively new to the scene

That is true, but the risk behind a jumping attack with a good hit box is based on timing and someone can always alter there spacing to make the anti-low box miss. Mai’s short kick low profiles pretty good from what i saw on the commonsense(nc) stream.

y u no mention this earlier?! I had to warm up for KOF and got a few matches in against Enzo (I’m assuming the same guy) in Tag2 then played some matches with Westtrade in VF5:FS. Had I known I would have completely forgotten I entered KOF! I was even looking for the other copy to Tag2 so I could play some before the tournament started until Westtrade asked me if I wanted to jump in.:sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad:…

i meant to my pre release session. i had copies of the game early. im thinking of extending this to the upcoming Tekken sessions i attend. if the WNB guys allow it, i will contemplate doing it there too. but it only applies to new or up and coming players (like yourself).

im just continuing my tradition i started with Tekken 4. if people TRULY want to play Tekken, i make a way for them to play it.

Just gonna leave this here.

Hey man sorry I missed WNB. I am still not really ready for long trips for extended periods of time. I want to play tag2 really bad. I hope to be able to come friday or do something with some games. I’m getting the feeling again. KOF is still numba wun but that TTT2 has to be the truth! Sorry about not texting you back Wednesday also. I was doped up really bad.

Tekken 4?

Anyone play Marvel on PS3 that wants to play sometime this weekend?

Angus, I didn’t really get a chance to ask you last night int he couple of games we played. The naoto set-up into trap in the corner: what combo were you using before it?

This is just an example of how every tactic has a counter. To go further, if someone tries to alter their spacing, they potentially set themselves up to be crossed up, which could lead to even more damage.

My main point was just to say that exploiting the lack of trip guard and leading into an HD combo is not the game ruining feature you were trying to make it out to be. I’ve had people TRY it on me, but I don’t think I’ve ever lost to it or had someone just outright abuse it over and over on me. I can’t think of one singular broken tactic in KOFXIII, which is one of the reasons it’s a good game.

Demo, sorry if it wasn’t the big tournament you expected. A lot of people are still learning the game or don’t even have it yet, like me. I’ve got some other financial obligations but I’ll probably get it in a week or two and start playing. I don’t want to enter a tournament where I don’t even understand the game though, just seems like throwing away money to me right now.

Not that I owe anyone an explanation, but I have three fairly big commitments in my life right now that prevent me from playing games with any real seriousness. When I do play, believe that I will play to the best of my ability, but I’m not going to bend over backwards to make it to tournaments or gatherings. This includes TTT2.

Demo, while I understand where you’re coming from, it’s not really reasonable to expect people to lunge onto Tekken in the very first week. A lot of these guys have minimal to no experience with the game and will probably test the waters a bit before committing to playing seriously. Talking trash, even if it’s a bit friendly, isn’t going to make most of them want to play the game more. Especially with a game like Tekken, which is not easy to get into in the first place.

Reminder to those who are still looking to make some extra cash doing what they love and don’t have plans at the end of the month, come out to the KDP tournament in Fayetteville hosted by Team KDP

1200 dollars to give out to the players who can handle playing at the top (but a chunk of this is already reserved for DeMo’s first place win at TTT2).

Make that money, buy a WiiU, buy your gf something, buy your babies diapers, buy some new games and come out and have fun with all of us. It will be a great experience for sure.

i have no intention to mince words with you guys so let me make myself PERFECTLY clear…

im NOT talking trash and i DIDNT expect a big tournament. what i DID expect though was for people to actually touch the game and ask questions. i arranged a babysitter and was there fairly early on to answer questions, i could have helped ANYBODY that simply sat down and wanted to know how something worked. that didnt even happen, i have a right to be somewhat disappointed in that. a few guys did want to see cool tag combos though, which i obliged. being fair here, Raleigh is far from being a short trip for me lol. so give people two weeks? i will do what i can to make another appearance in two weeks. which will then be two weeks those very same people will be behind. it doesnt cost money to ask questions. it also doesnt cost (much) money to attend a session. being honest it costs ME more money to attend the sessions in RDU than it would the majority of the people in here.

I EVEN SAID ITS LIKELY IM GIVING OUT COPIES OF THE GAME AT SESSIONS!!! who else has EVER done that? thats way above and beyond typical community support.

so week 1 its ok to not play a game? ok then, so excluding UMvC3 and AE lets look at the other fighters that have released recently. tell me how many entrants did Persona get week 1? or how many people jumped on SFxTK week 1? one of those games is pretty much dead and the other is dying. in the eyes of a tournament organizer that first week is an interest gauge. if no interest is shown, what happens to the game? EXACTLY.

i think it somewhat hypocritical that im somehow “wrong” for wanting people to play a game they talk about playing and its also KINDA discouraging me that im getting chastised for offering myself as a resource here. use facebook, use the phone, send a pigeon, use smoke signals. if you want help, i will do all i can to help you. im trying to shed that Illuminati label, which was unjustly placed on the community anyways, but i have to be met halfway…feel me?

Hey Demo, do you know if the 360 port for TTT2 is as good as PS3?

No one was chastising you Demo. If I had known you were offering up teachings, I would have walked over. I just didn’t really want to get punted around by a solo character used by a guy that knew what he was doing when I was trying to just figure out moves and what not.

Next time you plan to come out, advertise on TZ and try to get more of the Tekken heads out. It’s easy for people to go from one 2D fighter to another but 2D to 3D is like Fighter to Shooter practically so it’s probably pretty foreign to most of the guys up there.

ive got both versions, SO FAR i havent experienced any real performance differences. but im sure within the next few days or week or so someone will sit down and give out all the specs

Any of yall playing TTT2 on 360? I’m not from NC but yall prob have the coolest regional thread.

It used to be much better than this but yea i’m pretty sure there are definitely 360 players for Tag 2.
