My biggest problem is that little shit making something I’m passionate about some stupid little hobby for him to pass time with and then say he’s gonna body me at it. Something everyone here is passionate about, really. I said a number of times that I’d come and play and said a number of times he should attend the sessions at state. He said he’s not here to compete and really made it out like he only cared about raleigh and his clique of friends. Don’t step on something that’s dear to my heart, was the message I was trying to convey. Albeit crass yes, but it was there.
And don’t talk shit about helping the community grow. We got a scene now in Fayetteville. Over the course of a few weeks Kevin, Will and I helped get a new venue to both have sessions at weekly. We invite many players to come and check it out, even getting a lot of the local cats interested. Guys who wanna play and learn and get better. If someone calls them out you bet they’re gonna back their shit up and play. They wanna travel they wanna get better. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR THE COMMUNITY? I have a lot more free time than I used to, so you can expect to see us more regularly at gatherings and tourneys alike.
One little flame war isn’t gonna deter the whole new Raleigh scene. If anything Duo and Damagepoints want my head now. If they beat me, I work hard to get better, If I beat them they work hard to get better. Money ensures nothing is held back. It’s like with Mike back in the day. He would talk so much shit and I wanted nothing more than to beat him at 3S. Everything I did was to beat him at the time. It worked. As much as I disliked him, he had a lot to do with my development as a good 3S player.
And if you’re gonna bring the history of Cali’s dominance for all those years, Look how SoCal and NorCal used to treat each other. they hated each other and were still better than the rest of America. So consider that in your Uno Dimensional view.
@Roski
Yo, I’ll try to make it through next Monday. No guarantee’s because of Finals but definitely after I’ll swing through regularly. Oh and do you guys still play 4? I need a lot of practice in that too, I’ve probably fallen way off in the 6 months that I was a ghost.
DOUBLE EDIT:
This is probably the biggest post I’ve ever made.
shrug I won’t make excuses then, I admittedly haven’t been willing or able to do anything for the community as of late. I’ve just personally grown really weary of the shittalk, more often than not it seems unnecessary and it does more harm than good IMO. It’s good that you guys are doing your best to grow the community, just try not to counteract it with behavior that tears it down. Keep doing what you’re doing.
How sweet, although I’m also down for MM’s, I need to play under pressure more outside of tournaments. Although I’m feeling mighty free in any game not named MvC3.
EDIT:
Although I was serious when I said I was NC mid-tier until I win a tournament. Until then Matt/Alex are the bullies and I’m the karate kid patiently working towards my shinning moment.
im with Blake, i even said publicly that this might be my last year doing this whole “competitive” thing. ive been at it for years and even though i NEVER place terrible in WHAT I PLAY locally, rarely do bad when I travel and bust my ass for the “scene”…i feel like i get nowhere fast. i may not ever be that guy on the podium at the end but i achieved what i wanted, i made myself a name in my community for being solid, respectful, humble, and generous. all the disrespect, shittalk, and the egos have worn me down to the point where i feel like the feelings transcend the game, if that makes sense.
winning isnt everything to me…but it helps lol
plus im just ready to graduate into Tony Major’s status. im there, i CAN play, but i want to socialize more!
Duo/Dmgpts: would you or anyone in your crew happen to play Tekken? if so, you care to MM in that as well?
Cape Fear Games said they’ll do tournaments for fighting games. They asked me about which type of tv’s people play on and I thought that would be in your department.
This is the shit I like to see. I don’t care who wins, but someone needs to GET BODIED.
P.S.
That’s not true, I kinda wanna see the new Raleigh people get bodied by the NC Mid Tier and higher. How well new people handle getting bodied is usually a good indication of their resolve. Also, I’m challenging Tom to a FT100 in 3S for $1. But we’re doing sidebets, and I’ve got $50 on Tom and need someone to match it.
Looking for people in NC to help start a community
Sup all, new here. Started playing Wonderful World or WanWan and got a friend to play. After that we got some more people playing and I’m trying to get a community started. My friend said that I should post here and I am. We live in Greensboro and are trying to get more people to play because playing the same 5 people over and over gets a bit tiresome after a while ya know? ANYWAYS, heres a link to the wikisite with the game. Wonderful World - Poverty Wiki
Hope some people actually join so that we can host some small tourneys and help attract more people to the game! Also, if this is in the wrong section, let me know where to move it to and I will do so.
