Yo Nathan I’m down for that VA trip. 3SOE PS3 Master Race reporting in. Same Lag as 360 hahhahahahahahaha Hold Dat!!
Also, Sofa King, we still don’t have an official time yet… but it should be about 2pm Saturday.
I will post again when I know the start time though.
I am down for va
I already admitted my mistake, why must you feel the need to reinforce the point?
Because PS3 USB peripherals add an extra 2 frames of input delay toward that 4.
Is there anyone in the Winston-Salem area that plays MK9?
I’d like to see every popular game flourish in NC… except 3S, fuck that game.
lol j/k I just like seeing the 3S heads sweat and post “play 3S, it’s a good game”.
Don’t let my recent posts give anyone the wrong idea though, I’m not quitting any games and when people want to play MVC3 and MK, those are my #1 priorities, but I also want to support the other games, especially if there’s interest in them right now. As far as MVC3 goes… all the BS is beatable if you put some effort into it. To make the GG analogy, it’s like Eddie… he seemed unbeatable when I first saw a good eddie player but obviously people figured it out. I kinda felt that way when I first fought Phoenix, and then later when I first fought Wolverine, but now I can say that neither are unbeatable. Wolverine is still dumb but atleast I know what to do to beat the dumb. You just gotta stick it out but I think characters like that weed out who’s actually dedicated to a game and who’s just playing it.
When trying to host a tournament in NC what should I take into account such as cost, location, etc.?
I’m sorry I didn’t see this til now, but that number is a landline only. It can only take direct calls AFAIK.
You may want to take into consideration that 10 people may not show up per ranbat, and adjust the point distribution. For instance, if you and I are the only two at a ranbat, 1st probably shouldnt get 10 points, and 2nd 9. That would be kind of unfair.
I’ll be down at noonish, but 2pm sounds pretty good place closes at 10pm. We can do these pretty much every sat/sun, on sunday the eating place there is actually open from 4-9pm as well.
Going to download dat Arcana after the storms pass and see what all the fuss is about.
If I end up liking it and putting some effort in, maybe I’ll even try to make some sessions/tourneys. Who knows…
Went ahead and got 3SO. I like 3rd okay. Might try online eventually, so you might see me doing generic shoto shit or a middling Duds.
Actually hope they do CvS2 one day. I actually like the game more now than I did 5 or 6 years ago…
No BBCS2 ? I’d do everything in my power to organize a 4 person carpool of BB players including driving to pick people up to come to this tourney and maybe we could generate enough interest for 2 carpools.
GVegas was very well reported on last time. If your able to include BB let me know.
That makes 5 for my van. We need to figure out if we’re splitting a room or not so I can reserve it. Figure everything else can be [S]ad-libbed[/S] “planned” at EZ on Friday. Expect much BB practice from me this week.
Seconded, if the current BB trend here holds up, I could probably get the carpool together to attend this.
Bad analogy. You’re talking about a Capcom game.
Arc tries to make all of their characters in their game have enough tools to be able to be viable.
Capcom just dumps a bunch of stuff in their games and lets the players sort everything about. If shit gets too bad, then people can pay to play a version of a game that fixes mistakes that should’ve been fixed before the game was even released.
If you’re saying the stuff in recent capcom games is worse than the stuff eddie could do… I’m not sure you’ve played GG enough. Yun dive kicking you repeatedly doesn’t have shit on unblockables and pocket assist characters. Only reason Yun was even a problem was just by comparison to the other characters. Same thing in MK with Kung Lao. They’re just better than the rest of the cast.
If you’re driving and you don’t want to drive back then we should just rent a room for the night. Just tell use the rates and we’ll figure it out from there. So I guess that makes me, you, Raf, Sal and Demarcus. How many seats are in your van?
There’s a big difference between talking about BB and actually playing BB. You said you’d play with me, but when and where could we actually play? You don’t host, and I can’t host either. Josiah’s was an option until now, but that’s passed. I had NO IDEA that people ever played at State, I’ve been to State to play BB once and then nobody ever mentioned it again.
To be fair, I’ve been extremely dicey on the scene lately and don’t have much time for gatherings, so there’s that. But last night was probably the most I’ve played CS2 with other people EVER. Prior to that, what I saw was mostly waffling and people who were apprehensive about playing or didn’t seem to really be putting time into learning the game. Not to mention people who just wrote it off completely without trying it out.
This is still a terrible analogy because you’re leaving out a lot of details, like the fact that most of these games run on totally different engines. Eddie in GG is POWERFUL, but it’s GG, where you have three different ways to guard, one of which gives you a free out of Eddie’s pressure in many situations, plus you have a Burst. GG’s engine gives your character answers when the character’s design has no more answers to offer. This is in stark contrast to most of the current Capcom offerings. If your character has no sort of reversal and you get knocked down against Yun in AE, you are all sorts of screwed. If Wolverine gets in on you with an assist in Marvel, you are very much screwed, unless you happen to have Haggar on your team, ETC ETC ETC…
It’s an ok analogy when you look at it without really delving deep, but the truth of the matter is that even the best Eddie player in Japan, who is highly biased towards his character, which he should be, considering his Eddie >>> any other Eddie, to the point where he pretty much isn’t even playing the same character, and yet he STILL thinks the best matchup Eddie has in the game is 7-3. There is no matchup worse than a 7-3 in GG, and the majority of them range from 5-5 to 6-4, among the WHOLE cast. Phoenix is beatable, but if you pick the wrong team, I have no doubt she can 10-0 you. There are certain characters and teams she just murders by design. As much as you want it to be the same thing, it’s not the same thing. I know you love Marvel, but that game is messed UP. Stuff is easier to do while being more broken, with less options overall. GG isn’t perfect (lies, yes it is), but it’s much, much better than almost everything new to come out within the past couple of years.
I mean I feel like if your team has entry mixups on snap in, you can beat phoenix. Jump back homing shot isn’t something most people have a direct answer to but she has to come down eventually. The stuff she does is dumb but if you save xfactor if you can’t stop dark phoenix from coming and you have meter, you do have an answer to her, you just can’t be risk averse if you want to use it.
Probably wasn’t the best analogy but I guess what I’m getting at is that people consider stuff broken way too easy these days. Marvel’s a pretty broken game period so the fact that Wolverine and Phoenix are broke isn’t such a big deal when you consider how much of the roster is in some way or another. And AE, Yun is just better than a lot of characters. Same with Kung Lao. Doesn’t mean he’s broke though… it’s just bad game design.
