Yeah…Marvel 3 compared to Guilty Gear, in terms of BALANCE? Dude.
It’s cool seeing new interest in AH3. We just played Saturday actually:

Fuck Weiss’s hitbox she is so hard to hit while crouching and it annoys me every time you can’t do your wind oki setup because of her damn hitbox.
I honestly think this is a very important thing that most fighting games should have, gg had how many fucking options on block.
Block
Faultless (little meter…normally)
Instant
Slashback (2% meter)
Dead Angle (50% meter)
Burst (burst meter)
I mean woah, that is 6 things you can do while blocking.
But see, again, that’s a requirement that has to be fulfilled via your team selection. Having entry mixups on snap seems like a gimme, but not every team has effective snap setups, so you’re already having to make adjustments to your team just to have a chance to beat the character, which is a huge red light to me.
It’s not about “is Phoenix beatable”, it’s about “Phoenix is really stupid, to a degree beyond Marvel’s general stupidity”.
I agree that most of the broke stuff in games these days doesn’t really qualify when you compare to some of the older games. But that doesn’t make the new games good. Nobody said Wolverine/Phoenix/Yun/Kung Lao are unbeatable, but there just doesn’t seem to be any reward to figuring out how to beat them. The games don’t get better or deeper or more interesting, you’re just staving off the wave of retardation or trying to beat it down with more stupidity. People don’t dislike Marvel because of the brokenness, they dislike it because once you figure it out, it’s dumb. Yes, someone who’s dedicated to Marvel will figure out how to deal with Wolverine and Phoenix, but they’re not necessarily doing anything more interesting. I mean, shit dude, you play Zero, a character who is repeatedly stated as being extremely stupid and theoretically unbeatable. Beating Wolverine and Phoenix with that is just not a good argument for the game. Ditto for Dante (w00t Hammer).
What made broken stuff in old games interesting was that it was either difficult to do or you were forced to make hard decisions in general due to a lack of options. Stuff like that is lost in this generation of games. Everything is too easy and/or too weak. Lame.
Only 5, but plenty of trunk space. Definitely trying to bring setups with to practice / have casuals.
Edit: Room was 100 even, if anyone else going to VA needs to bed down it it, just lemme know ahead of time.
I might be down for VA. Idk what my schedule is gonna be like with my lady, but if she’s busy I’m there. I’ll let you guys know; maybe a Friday night gathering is in order.
Yeah, Shiki had some real good ideas. I am implementing them now. You coming out for the first one next wed?
TBH I think my Zero dies in almost every match I play. It usually ends up being Dormammu or XF3 Dante that wins games for me. Been reading too many DevilJin posts man lol
Notice I said theory. Also, you don’t play like the tournament Zeros, you like your offense too much, per usual. I didn’t realize just how lame Zero actually was until I watched some matches recently.
I don’t necessary think things need to be hard to learn, but maybe difficult to setup properly, like Wolverine’s mixup is way too easy to setup, I mean assist+berserker slash its not only very easy to perform, its also you can do this shit any time your 1/2 a screen away or less. Like from what I remember of GG and now that I’m playing AH3, to setup really good shit you normally need to combo them, often times ending in knockdown and/or spend meter along with the execution requirement. On neutral your options to do really good stuff are more limited and more often then not are in avoidable situations by the other player and cost meter to do.
lol. It really doesn’t make sense. Having the smallest crouching hitbox, yet big enough to disrupt Wind oki. xD I won’t complain though.
EDIT :
And yeah, I don’t mind crazy unseeable mixups and big damage as long as it’s hard to set up or costly.
If you’re busy I understand, but we don’t have to have a gathering in order to play. If you’re free and I’m free then we can play. When I first got on SRK I said if people are down to play so am I. I prefer offline than online anyway, even if that means driving out to play. That also means if I’m free and someone else is free and wants to play we can play at either their place or my place. That’s why when I asked “who’s playing” I wasn’t directing it to just gatherings but to people who may be available to play sometime.
I’ll be making every Charlotte Ranbat possible, unless I’m too broke to drive or get a job where I can’t get every Wed night off.
This is exactly the sort of thing I’ve been wanting to see in our scene, Charlotte especially. I’d encourage you guys in the Eastern part of the state who are serious about SF4/MvC3 to make as many as you can. I know gas is fucking expensive and it’s not practical to expect out-of-towners to make every week.
That’s why I’m in support of the points system I proposed. Even if someone can only afford to come every other week or so, they can still get prizes at the end of the season if they place well enough.
By the way, Charlotte still supports and plays Tekken and BB, if you haven’t heard.
like hype? like balanced X-Factor? like fast paced puzzle games with fighting game elements? like good games?
look no further.
I play lame if I have to, IE vs Wolverine and what not, or Haggar / Tron assist. He’s actually awesome at laming it out and having a super fast super high priority projectile at the release of a button that auto corrects makes him pretty hard to safely approach. I fought a Zero / Tron player in vegas that did just that, basically just jumped around calling tron and looking for openings, and then let buster rip when he was absolutely sure it would hit. I really did not want to press buttons vs him.
lol. That is awesome. Actually played Catherine last week. Had no idea there was versus mode too. xD
Noel brown and fightingGM confirmed for river city runbacks!
