Well it depends, how long does it take for Conan to hand over his finished show to NBC Headquarters, who can then begin sending it out for broadcast to all the affiliates? Lets assume it takes 1 hour to get the shit edited. That gives NBC 1 1/2 hours to watch the show, know something was up, figure out the proper way to deal with it, re-edit and encode the entire show, and still get it out on time. Thats cutting it really thin. I really honestly don’t think that part was necessarily pre-approved by anyone at NBC, but I guess we’ll find out if some reporters start doing some digging. The other night, coming back from commercial, the band was playing Zepplin and Conan laughed and said, “Oh Zepplin? That costs NBC a lot when we play it” or something like that. Sure theres a budget, but all this stuff is billed and paid at a later date, not up front.
Also, Leno is not funny. At. All. At least not to my tastes, and to the tastes of lots of others. You already admitted yourself how staged and phony Lenos show was (handpicking people to sit in the “Lets touch and praise Leno” section), that just reflects on the guy enough, I don’t understand why you feel this constant need to stick up for him

EDIT: It’s funny you talk about Leno being disingenuous when the link I posted earlier confirms that the whole Conan Bugatti skit was fake. Ooh, look at Conan (not really) sticking it to NBC by (not) spending a bunch of money on a sketch whose punchline is about spending a lot of money for the sketch. What a rebel! :rolleyes:

Anyway… There’s just so much happening, I can’t read all of this. So basically, Conan has been paid to stop hosting the show, and he can’t appear on another network until Sep 1st?

It was ALWAYS back to back. he means Pre-Conan’s Tonight show. Jay originally came on at 11:35 pm everynight when he was the host of the tonight show. This is also when Conan still hosted late night. Times were simpler back then…All the way back in 2009…

Conan not being on until Sept 1st is really not a big deal. As was said even if a deal was inked today it’d take at least that long to get a set, advertise etc. As for the car skit it’d only have been better if he smashed it with a sledgehammer or the Masturbating Bear jizzed on the hood.

Also the best thing to come out of this for me was that I discovered Hulu and remembered how fucking awesome Craig Ferguson is. He’s actually got the best monologue in late night. His brash in your face attitude and that accent are a hilarious combination. He doesn’t really need good material to be funny.
