Nash Combo/Tech Thread

Good shit with this video GroundedSF(And everyone with these great tech vids)!I have a question though, how did you get b.mk to link to st.mp? I tried to lab it out but couldn’t get the combo on Mika.

Cheers  The second half of the video is meaty + counter-hit. I think without a counter-hit the best you can do with meaty b.mk is +5, which isn’t enough to link st.mp.

Oh yeah I know that it was ch.meaties. I just can’t get the link. Maybe because it’s sim?

It should work on everyone. I just checked and it works on Mika. If you hit on the last active frame you’re at +7 so you can actually link st.hp too.

HK SS -> st.lp (whiff), HP SB will whiff against Ryus back roll 3f shoryuken if you are as close as possible to the opponent

HK SS -> cr.lp (whiff), HP SB will cover quick rise and back roll on all cases, there’s only 1f difference between st.lp and cr.lp but in this case it’s critical
on quick rise hit adv. is +9/+11/+4
on back roll hit adv. is +14/+16/+9

I’m currently theorycrafting HP SB setups for corner KDs and I’ll probably update the previously posted g.doc in a day or two after I’ve finished testing them

This might be something so obvious people have already talked about it…

Does anyone have any specific tech for using V-Trigger activate to disable wakeups?

Video example with Nash:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GyXgjPRHHk&feature=youtu.be"]https://youtube.com/watch?v=2GyXgjPRHHk&feature=youtu.be

Tested quickly through most of the HP SB setups
HP SB appears to be in most cases the best setup option in corner as it tends to cover both quickrise and back roll wakeups
Also HP SB setups tend to give crazy hit advantages even on block

Plain HP SB covers QR & BR:

cr.hk
mp,lk,hp
lk sonic scythe
ex sonic scythe

cr.lp (whiff), HP SB covers QR & BR:

hk sonic scythe

st.lp (whiff), HP SB covers QR & BR:

ex tragedy assault

More detailed data can be found from this: google doc

So a new video was released showing how necallis DP can be low profiled.

I knew nash didn’t have anything low enough in his face, but at range I found the crmk was safe from being dpd.

Maybe a good way to still apply a meaty pressure without fear of dp

Saw how many setups there are, good job. I didn’t see this one though

Mid Screen
MK SS - EX Sonic Boom delay EX Sonic Boom (not too much or else it uncombos or knocks opponent too far) - with correct delay this combos to MK SS again. This setup easily covers back roll too.

Are you learning nash? @Eternal

Yeah, closest thing the game has to Cody. I only recently started actually playing much at all, put in more time in last 2 weeks than I had in the 6 before that.

How does he remind you of cody? I find him very similar to juri just with his fireball game and most of his normals. Though maybe my playstyle just hasnt changed at all.

Slow walk speed, nothing to do on wakeup, good pokes but mostly slow, frame traps based around normals, Most key normals are slow startup, can zone with slow startup fireballs that recover quick but for the most part plays the mid range game with pokes and dash ins.

There’s a bunch of EX SB combo tech from afar although the ranges/setups are kind of specific.

In terms of setups I’ve got an Evernote going continuing what I posted earlier in the thread. Reorganized to be a bit more useful in looking for setups that have a plan B for no tech and when possible cover quick rise and back roll.

Yeah, but even if you don’t do that specific delay for another combo it’s an option that keeps them pinned. There is no delay after the first MK SS. It’s just something to add to repertoire as a knockdown setup. I’d bet there is more you can do. I’ll look.

Ah I wasn’t downplaying it or anything. I came across that myself and think that’s solid stuff. EX TA is good for that as well since it reduces tech options.

Ex TA
Double Dash cr.MP (No Tech = Safe Jump)
-If No Tech Backdash EX Boom VT 50/50

Albeit more meter intensive could definitely help close out the round with a dirty mixup.

Found a wonderfully useless gimmick: EX SS - Dash - EX TA. It makes reversals go the wrong way, but typically you recover after they do so it’s useless unless they do something big like a super. Still funny.

I thought that could possibly work midscreen, but I was having trouble testing it when I got the idea from playing around with EX Tragedy Assault follow ups in the corner. Good to know!

I also think you can get the same mixup after crush counter sweep midscreen (the frame counts are similar), but again, I’ve been having trouble testing it. That, and I think my time playing Nash is dwindling. Anyway, I made a video explaining the full sequence that I use in the corner here:

And, here’s the YouTube description:

A couple of other notes:
[] M. Bison (Dictator) - late V-Reversal can be blocked by Nash
[
] Dhalsim - To beat Yoga Sunburst, delay and change your V-Trigger to the neutral version, so Nash winds up behind Dhalsim:(and follow up with a short combo like cr.MP, st.MP xx LK Sonic Scythe); to beat Teleports, delay your V-Trigger to give more time for EX Sonic Boom to travel

FANG - To beat EX Nikankyaku, wait after EX Sonic Boom and react to what FANG does: if he tries to escape, you can punish; otherwise, you can V-Trigger to put him in a mixup
That setup is pretty cool. Just found an alternative meaty setup if you’re without meter for EX Boom.

After the f+LK cr.MP if they don’t tech you can throw in another f+LK (whiff) into f+HK. +1 on block and +5 on hit. So without CH you can link b.MK into whatever (TA if you’re going for endless oki). Get a st.HP if they do end up hitting buttons.

Also the setup above if safe from at the very least Ryu’s MP SRK and can evade the EX DP if you go for cross up VT. The EX Boom will counter hit MP SRK after the invulnerability runs out and you can convert with nj.HK. Will have to do more testing versus other invincible wake up options.
