not to mention it couldnt have been only 2 senju making it this hard for the uchiha clan. uchiha where over the 100, at the very least, right? senju gotta be at least that much or more. and how come naruto ca be a senju when his last name is namikaze? im not saying the hyuuga are senju (could be though), biut theres gotta be senju up in that bitch. the uchiha where plotting just a few years ago, it coudlnt have been just against tsunade. maybe the village aint just senju and uchiha, but i dont believe theres only 1 or 2 senju there.
It’s a figure of speech. He wasn’t saying that Naruto is a Senjuu; he was saying he has the will that they were known for. If someone says you have the basketball skill of Michael Jordan, that doesn’t imply or make you his son.
I said the only confirmed living Senjuu is Tsunade. I never meant to suggest that she’s the last of her clan… she’s just the only Senjuu that’s actually in the story. Just like there are only… what… 2 Akimichi in the story. I’m sure there are more in the clan.
As for Madara’s comments, he went out of his way to say that Naruto is not a Senjuu, but he shares the same spirit. The “Will of Fire” is just the spirit that is spread throughout Konoha. All good, Konoha nin brought up under the teachings of any of the Hokage have this will, if they adhere to the teachings. It is not indicative of any blood relation. Shodai/Nidai passed their “Will of Fire” on to Sarutobi, but there was no blood relation there. It’s certainly Senjuu influence though, since the Senjuu ran Konoha from its inception.
So even if Tsunade really is the last of the Senjuu (doubt it…), the reality is that the will of the Senjuu is ingrained in Konoha, since the Senjuu have created a lineage of Hokage that all share their attitudes. It’s already been shown that Konoha does not choose its Kage based on just ninja skill. Orochimaru was passed, though it’s been suggested that he was superior to Minato at the time. During the last meeting, had Danzou not cheating with Shisui’s eye, Kakashi would have been selected as Hokage, just because he shares the Will of Fire, while Danzou did not. Merit wasn’t even brought into the discussion.
As for the Uchiha, at the time of their coup, it wasn’t a single Senjuu making it hard for them. Again… I argue it wasn’t hard for them at all… but if you must… the people making it slightly uncomfortable for the Uchiha were Danzou and the elders… Influenced by their relationships with Shodai/Nidai, presumably.
That’s part of what makes the Uchiha coup so bad. They weren’t really even going against anybody. They were just uncomfortable in Konoha, period. There wasn’t any overt oppression from one clan down on them. They just didn’t like the fact that they weren’t trusted by the powers of Konoha, so they chose to rectify that by acting in a completely untrustworthy fashion…
I disagree. Yeah, everyone had it pegged as happening, but everyone had it pegged as such because it’s a common flaw in Japanese storytelling where they do this sort of shit. Itachi was too popular a character to actually keep him as a villain, something I’d liken to Marvel Comics’ attempt to make Venom into a hero in the 90s (though the key difference is that, at some point, Naruto is probably going to end while Spider-Man is intended to last indefinitely).
It’s not like the Naruto series doesn’t have its fair share of characters freaking the fuck out and becoming super-duper evil. We saw it with Orochimaru, Sasori, and so on down the list of Akatsuki. But no, no, Itachi, who just so happened to fit that same “I’m so powerful I freaked out and killed everyone” bill, hung out with all of them for years on end, killed an untold number of people during this span…and just happened to be a totally nice guy, and by sheer coincidence, happened to be one of the most popular characters in the series. Granted, it’s possible Kishimoto planned on Itachi being among the most popular characters in the series (basically every popular Japanese character falls into one of two archetypes) and had this set up from the start…but he just happens to be a genuinely shitty writer when it comes to character development (Kishimoto? A shitty writer?!). But I’ll give him the “benefit of the doubt” and say that he just sacrificed his initial plans, which might not have been quite so shitty, to make some fans happy.
I don’t read Japanese storytelling, aside from Naruto, and I called Itachi being good years ago.
Good games to those I played yesterday. The grand finals was pretty hype and this ranbat had a very nice turn out. I was late for work, but it was worth it.
Good point. I re-read the page and there isn’t an explicit statement that Naruto is Senju, just a potential inference or more likely, a comparison.
itachi was too nice to be a bad guy, dude never killed a konoha nin cept for the uchihas. since the start when he was introduced he ever kill a konohan? though itachi as a villain would have been as good. now hes the dude that sacrifced himself. then again itachi being a good guy isnt that weird, not a final villain, and there is no way sasuke could have died. maybe at the end, not now.
half this thread called that.
Ok.
But you realize that Itachi actually turning out to be a good guy makes absolutely no sense, right? Which is my point. Plenty of people saw it coming. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t stupid fanservice.
It made sense to me. I liked that turn. It makes things much more interesting.
I’ve stated this before, but I’m not a huge fan of “good v. evil”. I think it’s lame writing. I’m much more interested in the clash of competing interests, and the evolution of the Uchiha story gave us that, as opposed to “Itachi is crazy”.
I saw Itachi being good coming… but not just for the fuck of it. I saw it in the story. In Itachi’s interactions throughout the story. It seemed fairly obvious to me, honestly. It made perfect sense when it was finally revealed.
Just because you didn’t read into it properly doesn’t mean it was poor writing.
itachi always had the sixth power ranger status on him. what im wondering is are they really gonna let sauske be evil for the rest of the series. deep down i know he’s gonna be good…just dunno how their gonna turn him. i cant see naruto’s talk no jutsu being that powerful on him.
fuck that. let him be evil. this series hasnt seen a really evil bad guy since orochimaru.
There were hints from the moment Itachi was introduced. If it makes no sense, you weren’t paying attention.
Itachi never really did anything bad.
Remember, Nalto is the best character. He believes in himself. He rides on toads.
and hes lookin for sauce dick.
So what were these hints? And more importantly, how do they offset all the bad stuff with the Akatsuki?
Just go back and read. There are loads of clues whenever Itachi appears.
As for whether or not they offset “bad stuff with the Akatsuki”, well, they’re not supposed to, since he had to adopt a lifestyle of “evil” as part of his mission. He had to seem like a prick, if the Uchiha massacre story was to be believed.
That being said, he still never really did anything. He had one job in Akatsuki: to capture the Kyuubi. Obviously, he never did it.
Honestly? That time Itachi and Sasuke were in the hotel, he could of taken Naruto, he bitch smacked Sasuke to all hell.
itachi’s status as the big bad boogie man helped him a fuck ton. its kinda like that scene in tf1 movie when starscream shows up everyone was like “OH SHIT ITS STARSCREAM…DIPSET!”
