I’m probably the last one in the thread to realize this but, Tobi = crappy anagram for Obito?
Like, is that why he only uses one eye, because Kakashi’s got the other one? If their power’s are similar it kind of makes sense, even though he’s supposed to be you know, dead.
That’s because they’re still abiding by fanservice. They did it with Itachi before, where this guy who had spent almost a decade with an evil, murderous organization focused on world domination was actually a totally nice guy…and they did it because Itachi is a popular character. Sasuke isn’t such a bad guy…he just fell in with a bad crowd (like…four times now). Granted, Kishimoto probably never had the testicular fortitude (or intent) to kill off one of the most popular characters in the series. And that’s probably because, yeah, he’s one of the most popular characters in the series.
That’s just one of the problems with Japanese storytelling. This issue is just compounded by the other glaring flaws with the series thus far.
sigh I know I’m breaking rule #1, but Itachi’s shift was in no way fan service. It was so obvious most of us called it a long time ago, and it’s so integral to the central conflict that there’s no way it was tacked on to please anyone.
Yeah, that theory was around before Tobi even revealed his sharingan. It kind of makes sense if Madara does body jump, considering Zetsu’s pretty much his right hand man. Zetsu is from the Hidden Rock, which is where Obito died, so it’s not unrealistic to think he found Obito’s body and brought it to Madara.

Nono, I genuinely meant that I just realized this whole thing, mainly because my slow European brain can’t be bothered to remember Japanese names. I think there’s something about Naruto that makes us Dutch guys thick as tar…

Obito would only have 1 eye, Madara only shows the one eye; they both have black spikey hair; they both act like naruto (see obito as a kid, and Tobi capturing the 3(?) tailed beast); they even have similar names (Obito = Tobi, only with a missing O, which is similar to an eye) but not sure how well that holds up since its in Japanese originally.
Overall it’s been a theory around for, oh, 2 1/2 years now. But at least you came to the conclusion on your own!
Does the japanese language even have anagrams like that? I wondered the same thing once about the city names Tokyo and Kyoto and I think the answer I got was something along the lines of, “it doesn’t work that way”

so it’s just missing that ? and you can move around the other 2 characters. It’s not quite the same with tokyo and kyoto…as both of the "o"s in tokyo are long, and only the first is long in kyoto.

oh, sorry. well the answer is still yes. sort of. TO BI and O BI TO are what the blocks should translate to. TOU KYOU and KYOU TO can’t really be interchanged because of the longer TOU in tokyo. otherwise they could if you didn’t write their kanji

Question to you guys. Originally, I watched the anime subbed up until the point where Naruto and Sasuke fought. Once the fillers came out, I stopped watching it. Now, what chapter or episode would I start on so I wouldn’t miss story and skip the lame fillers?
