Back when the time skip first happened, I wanted Sasuke to come back as pure villain. And that happened, and I should be happy about that…but I dunno. He still doesn’t really feel like an antagonist. Just…misguided.
I think its the storytelling’s fault. Itachi became a hero, and now Sasuke wants to validate his brother’s sacrifice. Plus, the people he’s targeting haven’t exactly been likeable - the Konoha elders, and Danzou? Nah. He was sent after Killer Bee, but we have no reason to care about him.
Plus, when the manga isn’t focused on him, we have Naruto who is clinging onto this friendship that no longer exists and is desperate to save him.
So I dunno, it feels a little too forced? I’m glad Sasuke is villain status now but I think it could have been done better.
Why should anyone settle for second place when they can have first? Madara tried to keep the Uchiha above water with the Senju, but his crew bailed on him, and now they’re in their graves because of it. I agree with Musolini on this one. If my close family or friends died, I’ll most likely want some payback too. Sasuke wants true justice :china:.

I liked Sasuke’s angle better when Pain did it, honestly.

sasuke has never been the logical type. KILL ITACHI!!! --> DESTROY KONOHA!!! seems a natural progression for him. dude is driven by primal emotions. either way it’s lolz

Does Naruto know the true story of the Uchiha clan? If he doesn’t, this spells big trouble for our hero. We all know Naruto is a sucker for compassion.
We all know how Naruto wants the ninja world to try to understand each other. Can Naruto deal with the fact that Sasuke’s rage is very justified? Can Naruto come to accept the fact that he has been working and trusting a nation(leaf) that has committed a whole world of evils against a certain clan? He’s about to go through some serious pain if he wants to save the ninja world.

I don’t care what happens it’s good to be back to the main characters after 5 yrs and see some naruto the hero time. I remember the good old days…
I bought all the anime up to Orochi vs 3rd. Those episodes used to be inspiring I want to see some more. Sasuke is in no shape to take on Naruto though
I think he has on some level accepted the responsibility; but Kishi keeps pushing that idea that you can accomplish the same end without having to murder people. That’s the core of everything Naruto does. As misguided and sometimes downright stupid as it can get, Naruto simply can’t help but try to see the good in everyone. No one is irredeemable, blahblahblah, etc.
What the recent chapters have done, IMO, is more clearly define the opposing ideologies: on the one hand, there is the established thought as to how the ninja world works: Black-Kage, Gaara, Itachi, etc.; they all share the opinion that Sasuke has permanently fallen to the darkness and cannot be redeemed. On the other hand, you got Naruto, with his fuckin’ FnJ working wonders on practically everyone INCLUDING Gaara-Kage. It’s hard for him to argue against something that he has personally seen work more times than we can count.
What we can’t forget though is that Naruto always wants to protect the village and do what’s best for the village; in his mind, that’s what being Hokage means. He knows the history of the Uchiha clan, and he very well may know Itachi’s role in that (we still don’t know EVERYTHING they talked about while in Itachi’s genjutsu), so in his mind, Naruto may have already said “While horrifying and deplorable, ultimately it was for the good of the village.” So he can feel compassion, but only to a point. The choice is there though: the life of his bro-friend versus the good of Konoha, and the greater stability of the ninja world at large.
So Naruto let Cloud Ninjas beat up on him to “take responsibility” for Sasuke’s actions as a former Konoha ninja.
…You think he’s going to let Sasuke take a shot at him to “take responsibility” for Konoha’s actions against the Uchiha? Given the way the story’s been going, that seems the most likely step.
do you guys ever find it kinda odd that in discussing a chapter of naruto, you produce more text than was actually in the manga release?
